An Obituary (to keep my promise)
R.I.P
Bayttaab Dil kee..ummm..whatever'🤔
..and balaji persists in its "namkaran" spree based on famous old hindi songs..wah..what a pick !! But what was the "dil" bayttaab again for? Please remind me'anyone?
Saw the episode ending with Shamoli's monologue on how she found the "tamanna" of her "bayttaab dil"..but damn me'what was this DARN tamanna? Marrying a rich guy was it? Aha !! hey wait !! but did she not hate rich men and men in general..oops shallow me'her tamanna was to find "LOVE"'.phew !! and I, drowned in my stupidity, always thought that the "tamanna" was to find a life, identity blah blah blah 😆
But at least Shamoli had some tamanna..whatever be it..what was the tamanna of the rest of the gang? 😉
Veeru prolly had the tamanna of becoming a lawyer eventually'but woh to waisey bhi hota'no need for a "story" for that'but may be secretly his dil had the bayttaab tamanna to get married, because that was the "bonus" he got at the end of it all'at least that's what is been shown !!
What was Kunal Mehra's tamanna? To become a rebel at the fag end of his life and marry a maid? Ahh, no'.it was infact to finally find someone who can stand up to him'see at least someone had a structured "tamanna"..me happy !!...or may be his dil secretly had the tamanna to make use of itself in a "social cause" ;)..not bad ! 😃
Karishma mehra had a tamanna to get her kids married'uff my head hurts !!
The rest really did not have any tamanna, kasam se'.they were mere fillers and backgrounds
Lets (or rather let me) not delve deeper into finding sense in this senseless crap-fest'let the departed soap Rest In Peace..what say !!
The Story of a One Liner
When I was a kid and even when I am grown up most of the stories I read or am being told has something to offer something you think about after you are done reading/listening about it'no matter how trivial or how profound it is'..
In the other end of it are stuffs like David Dhawan movies that claim nothing and are PURE entertainers'you'lI see them to pass time and take a break from your rather meaningful life'dance to some "jhakkas" tunes and be happy seeing the rather handsome akshay kumar or applaud how good a dancer Govinda is, despite his "almost obesity"
But in either of the cases, the good stories or the time-passes, they are stories "BUILT" on concepts (good or bad)'you derive a one-liner moral based on these stories'.but alas, here a story was built on a supposed one-liner that too a middle line of a song..so what can one expect !!
Free Riding in exceptional cases does make consumers "Reveal" their preference
But me a stubborn woman, still found a moral of the story..naah, not the story Ekta's serial factory produced'I have drawn a moral from the rather "bigger picture"
There are two concepts in economics ' the problem of "free riding" and that of "revealed preference". The former arises in cases when the latter is unidentifiable. When you cannot gauge the actual volume of demand for a good, you run a risk of people who enjoy the benefit of a good/service without paying for it (generally happens in case of public roads, parks etc). Tax payers and non-payers enjoy the benefit of it alike.
In this soap, the makers tried to "free ride" on the already existing demand for a certain Mr. Kundra. They roped him in, for no rhyme or reason into a half or un-baked soap, just to grab eyeballs and tug at the fragile hearts of several hundred lamenting fans who were severely mourning the loss of an Arjun Punj'.well, they did succeed, but for a while'.this rather sloppy soap of an affair did eventually led many of those fragile-hearted fans to "reveal" their preference for quality..and the net result? Simple, they QUIT !! and in a business when consumers quit, the business "shuts down"....a no brainer!!
So Moral:
Hey, just because we are sloppy soap-watchers , you cannot take our "taste" for granted !!
A Wastage:
Arjun Punj is still fresh in my memory..and judging by that, Karan Kundra deserved a MUCH better role'poor thing !! it might seem he has this "jinx" for shutting soaps down'but I believe he was only being a nice friend and doing diligently what he was asked to do'I hope he gets a role someone writes with "him" in mind !!
