Part 10
Amar watched as Divya scrunched her eyebrows together, deep in thought. It was her turn to place a word on the scrabble board, and like any other decision she made, she took time to plan and road map before giving a final answer. He chuckled as a smile erupted on her face. She had finally decided on a word.
Forming her word on the board, Divya turned to her brother and gestured for him to continue. All this while, she felt Amar's gaze on her face but she chose to look at Maasi and Armaan instead. Those intense eyes always manage to disconcert her, and she just couldn't let that happen when there were others around. She startled when she heard Armaan scream loudly, "One...double letter...double letter...triple word...WHOO!!!"
Laughing, Amar placed his words next to the ones Divya had. He added "vejuice" to the already existing "oli" that Divya had placed earlier. Divya gasped, waving her arms about in excitement, "That's not allowed! That's not allowed! That's two words!"
Amar waited until she looked at him to reply, "It made you look at me, didn't it?"
Divya's face turned crimson as she turned to gauge Armaan and Maasi's reaction. Fortunately, they were too busy keeping score to hear Amar. Biting her lip, she whispered, "That's two words. We're not allowed to have more than one word."
Amar glanced at the board before looking back at her and shrugging, "It's three words actually."
Divya looked back at the board and frowned, "No that's two. Olive and juice."
Armaan, finally getting back into the conversation, chuckled, "Hehe...good one Amar."
Divya scowled at Armaan, "What's so funny? That's two words!!"
Finally, Maasi realized what they were talking about and turned to Divya, "It is two words. But it can be three words."
Divya looked around at the three of them as if they'd all grown extra heads, "What are you guys talking about?"
Patiently, Maasi explained, "Well, in written form, there are only two words. But when you mouth the words..."
Before Maasi could finish, Amar cleared his throat. Divya turned to look at him as the other two looked at her, gauging her reaction. And then Amar proceeded to "mouth" the two words and shocked the living daylights out of Divya.
Anyone who doesn't know what 'olive juice' is all about, mouth the two words and you'll find out! ๐
