woo hoo! loved the update...as always 😆

thank god she didn't enjoy the date 😈 tee hee hee...now it'll be easier
for other things to happen 😉 and finally...she admits that she's fallen
for him 😳

when sagar called i was like "yesss! he's going to say i love you or
something." 😆 but then my hopes were crushed 😆
i had to read that paragraph twice to confirm that it was sagar 😆 i
got all excited like an idiot 😆 😛

*sighs* when is he going to admit he's fallen for her? oh well, i'll just wait

This part is all in Vidya's point of view. For Recap go to pg. 143

I glanced in the girl's bathroom mirror on Monday morning, debating whether or not to apply another coat of lipstick. Last Friday, I would have seized any opportunity to ensure that my make-up was picture-perfect. Today....I didn't care all that much. Besides, I didn't really like the lipstick I had bought—it tasted bad.

"Hey, Vidya." Srav greeted me, breezing into the bathroom, brush and make-up bag already in hand. "I need to do a quick repair job." She gave me a pointed look. "And so do you."

"Hi, Srav." Dutifully I pulled the tube of lipstick out of my backpack. I couldn't very well tell Srav that after all her hard work, I had decided that I was okay with looking more or less the way I had for the last four years.

"So...was Saturday night the best evening of your life—or what?" Srav inquired, dabbing concealer onto the nonexistent zits on her face.

"Uh..." How to answer that question? In some ways Saturday night had been great.

I had finally seen the truth, liberating myself from the pathetic crush that had dominated my waking hours for as long as I could remember. And I had also realized, at long last, that a person was more than a hairstyle, gleaming white teeth, and the right attitude.
But that date had also been horrible—and not just because my Tushar bubble had been burst. Now that I had realized what I really wanted—Sagar—the fact that I couldn't have him was more painful than anything I had experienced regarding Tushar. Of course, that particular piece of information was the last thing I would ever share with Srav.

"Tushar is, like, the funniest guy I have ever met," Srav continued. She had moved on to powder, carefully dusting her face, then blotting with some kind of cotton pad. "He totally cracks me up."

"Yeah...he's really funny." Actually I didn't have much of an opinion on whether or not Tushar was witty. I had spent the majority of my time sneaking glances at Sagar—not appreciating Tushar's particulate brand of humor.

"I don't know what was wrong with Sagar that night," Srav went on. "He was so uptight. I've never seen him act so...lame."

"Lame?" I asked, my voice a tiny squeak. "I didn't think Sagar was being lame."

Srav rolled her eyes—not an easy feat in the midst of apply a fresh coat of mascara. "Sometimes Sagar is just so not fun. He's lucky he's so cute—otherwise I wouldn't even stick around with him."

I couldn't believe Srav felt this way. She had to appreciate Sagar for more than his dark hair and intense eyes. Didn't she feel like the luckiest girl in the world to be dating a guy who was so intelligent and sensitive and interesting and funny and...I had to stop myself. I couldn't think about Sagar like that. It was wrong, wrong, wrong.

Sure, any girl in her right mind would love the way Sagar looked. But that wasn't the most important thing about him—far from it. Appearance was....well, just that. It didn't have anything to do with you as a person.

I didn't bother to even tell Srav that I didn't think I cared whether or not Tushar asked me out again. She wouldn't even understand. Just like she didn't understand a lot of things—like Sagar's amazing personality...
