Oneshot 3:

Grey.

Santu thought she had never seen a prettier shade of Grey. But she always felt rather odd when she saw this colour.

'Why though?' The small voice at the back of her head that had been bothering her recently asked.

"Because that is the colour of his eyes." She said to herself.

"Santu, what are you talking about?" asked a very familiar voice behind her.

Santu leapt up and whirled around and locked eyes with the very pair of eyes she had just been thinking about. Dharamraj's eyes were a warm, rich, Grey, fringed by dark lashes. Dharamraj's soul reflected in his eyes. When he was angry his eyes would turn to a dark shade of stormy grey. If he was sad then his eyes were pale in colour and lost their sparkle. When he was happy they were bright, sparkly and big. At the moment it was filled with slightly amused confusion.

Words tumbled from Santu's lips and her face flushed red "Erm, ah, er, what are you doing here?"

Her Hazel eyes, the ones that always sparkled with life and happiness, contrasted magnificently with her dark locks. Her eyes locked with his and Dharamraj felt a chill creep down his spine at the intensity of her gaze. He felt his hand twitch, wanting to jump to his hair of its own accord because of his nervousness, but he controlled himself and instead opened his mouth to speak.

"Well I happen to live here. Why? What are you doing?" he replied, grinning cheekily.

Santu's heart fluttered at the grin that crossed his handsome face but she berated herself for that kind of reaction. Instead she answered his question.

"Enjoying the fire." she replied, dropping back to her original position on the couch, "Care to join me?"

She glanced back at him over the edge of the couch, back at his eyes. 'They really are quite lovely you know.' That little voice said. Santu chose to pointedly ignore it.

She watched as Dharamraj nodded, dropped his things on the table and walked around the couch to join her. They sat together in a companionable silence, staring into the fire.

After a few minutes of watching the fire Dharamraj turned his eyes toward a more mesmerizing sight and gazed at Santu instead. She was so perfect to him, so much the embodiment of everything he loved. She was passionate and fiery. She was witty and smart, not to mention absolutely gorgeous. And her eyes were of the deepest shade of Hazel. She was just so perfect.

Santu was Dharamraj's younger sister's (Khadambari's) best friend. Ever since she started staying at the Mayavanshi residence during the summer, Dharamraj had gone out of his way to befriend her. Although Dharamraj was incredibly handsome and had women of all age drooling over him, he had never paid attention to them. However he couldn't help but be attracted to Santu like a moth towards a flame. Santu and he were now very good friends, even though there was a 10 year age gap between them. But recently he noticed that she had been acting a little odd around him, nothing obvious but it was still there.

Dharamraj opened his mouth to ask if something was bothering her but it seemed the words just wouldn't come out. He closed his mouth and opened it again, like a fish out of water, trying to get the words to flow but it just wouldn't work.

Santu finally registered that Dharamraj was watching her instead of the fire and she paused. 'He really is very good looking,' she admitted to herself, 'not to mention very sweet and kind. Hell, I could even call us good friends. But why do I feel so jittery around him all of a sudden?'

Slowly she turned her head to look at him and her Hazel eyes locked on to his Grey ones.

Grey.

Hazel.

Grey.

Hazel.

Grey.

Dharamraj stared deep into Santu's eyes and he could feel courage bubbling up inside him as he leaned forward, moving a hand up to caress her cheek.

Santu felt a strange feeling rise up in her and she tilted her head into Dharamraj's hand as it cupped her face. Dharamraj drew her closer and their lips met. Santu felt a jolt of electricity shoot through her leaving the nineteen-year-old feeling giddy and happy.

Kissing Santu was everything Dharamraj had imagined it to be and more; his euphoria sky-rocketed when Santu responded and kissed him back. He slid one hand around to encircle her lower back and another into her hair. She wrapped her hands around his neck and deepened the kiss. They remained like this for another moment before slowly pulling apart.

"Well I suppose this explains why I've been thinking about you so much." Santu said with a small breathless laugh, not removing her hands from around his neck.

Dharamraj barely registered her words, his head was still in the clouds and his heart was still going a million miles an hour. He traced a finger along her jaw and grinned.

"Yes," he said finally, "I suppose it does."

They stared at each other for a moment, getting lost in each other's eyes. Again they felt themselves coming closer again and just before their lips met Santu was visited by the thought that she had never seen a prettier shade of Grey.
