SanRaj Oneshot:2

Dharamraj grinned as he peered into the lounge room. A young, beautiful, glowing brunette woman was sleeping peacefully on the couch with a baby girl curled up in her arms. Even to this day he marvelled at how he had married the most beautiful thing on earth. The one he had loved so much for so long loved him back. His family meant everything to him. He would give his life to anyone of them without a second thought. Whilst pondering this, Dharamraj remembered one of his wild antics to win Santu's heart whilst they were at college and snorted.

Flash back

"Dharamraj," Hiten one of his best mate said seriously " I very much regret to say this, but I highly doubt Santu will appreciate you proposing your unconditional love to her in front of the whole College.

"Oh Hiten, Santu won't be able to resist the Mahiyavanshi charm! She'll be practically begging for a snog!" He said as he ruffled up his hair and blew a kiss to a group of girls who instantly erupted in giggles and began whispering amongst themselves, occasionally giving him a hopeful glance. Hiten shook his head but didn't say anything else.

Just then they reached the cafeteria where most of the students were sitting down to lunch, laughing and gossiping amongst themselves.

"Go get her Dharamraj!" Shashank, his other best mate roared as he smacked his best friends back.

Dharamraj winked at his friends and gave them the thumbs up before making his way to the girl of his dreams. She was laughing with her friends as she helped herself to a sandwich. Hai Rab, he loved it when she laughed! Her cheeks flushed a girlish pink and her brilliant almond shaped eyes sparkled.When he reached her he leaned casually beside her and rumpled up his hair and shot her his famous knee weakening grin.

"What do you want Dharamraj?" She said bluntly, trying to keep her temper in check. Dharamraj winked and jumped up onto the table in front of her.

"Wha-?" Santu started but Dharamraj cut her off.

"OH MERI DUFFER!" He yelled causing everybody to stop their conversations and turn around to watch what was going on. Dharamraj continued "I'VE NEVER MET A GIRL LIKE YOU! WANNA GO OUT?" Dharamraj grinned and gave Shashank the thumbs up who was beaming up at him and returned the gesture enthusiastically. Hiten was looking up from over his book with a look of pity in his eyes. Many of the girls were eyeing Santu with envy. A couple were even crying. The whole student population was holding its breath…

Santu raised her eyebrow. "Not if you were the last man on earth." She said dangerously with her eyes narrowed. Her face was bright red with rage as she stalked out of the cafeteria. Many of her friends were shrugging sympathetically up at Dharamraj who grinned sheepishly around the hall and rumpled up his now ridiculously shaggy hair as he watched Santu disappear out of the hall. The students erupted in gossip as Dharamraj jumped off the table and made his way to his friends. He glared at Hiten as if daring him to say "I told you so" But Harmon stayed silent.

"Bad luck Dharamraj!! There's always next time! She's bound to realize she likes you soon!" Shashank said slapping Dharamraj on the back comfortingly.

"Woh haa kyun nahi kehte?!" Dharamraj said fiercely, "Every other girl would!," he continued, not realising that this was the beginning of his love, passion and obsession for Santu.

End of flashback

Dharamraj grinned at the memory. He would never let anything happen to her or Shreya. His insides curled at the thought of losing the woman he had chased after for so long... Of losing the child he was so proud of. He walked over to the couch and lay down next to his wife and watched her breath. Her chest gently expanded and contracted as she breathed silently. He lay like this for a few moments soaking in this perfect moment. He brushed a stray curl of silky brown hair off her face and she stirred. She opened one eye gingerly revealing a phenomenal, hazel eye. He grinned. She looked so beautiful.

Santu opened her other eye and raised her eyebrows "What are you so happy about?!" She asked. Dharamraj grinned even wider and leant down to whisper in her ear.

"You." He whispered so softly she could barely hear it. She giggled and kissed him lightly on the cheek.

Dharamraj closed his eyes and smiled "Remember our first kiss?" he asked. Santu nodded and smiled back.

Flashback

Snowflakes were gently drifting to the ground, landing silently onto the many that had fallen before it. The college ground was covered in a layer of snow, making it look like a fairy tale. Dharamraj couldn't study…he couldn't get a certain someone out of his mind. He decided to try and clear his mind by sitting at the window. He grinned as he thought of the many fierce snowball fights that would follow soon when a girl walked into view from his window. His heart stopped as he recognized who it was. She was smiling happily and lay down by the lake letting the snowflakes fall into her silky hair.

As if somebody else was controlling his body he ran out. His heart was racing. He had no idea why he was doing this…When he stepped out into the grounds it felt like he had stepped into a freezer. Damn, he should of remembered his Jacket! He spotted her and all thoughts of being cold left his mind completely, infact, he felt strangely hot.

It was then that he saw it…A lone red rose poking its head over the snow…The last rose. He picked it and began walking towards her. She looked up shocked.

"Dharamraj! What are you doing here?" She said. He handed her the rose. It was beautiful…

"Oh my…" She whispered.

Dharamraj put it in her hair and whispered "Your beautiful."

She couldn't help it…She grinned and looked up into his rich, majestic chocolate brown eyes…she finally saw what every other girl saw…she was lost in those gorgeous eyes… He was giving her that lopsided charming smile that she had grown so fond of over the past year.

"..Dharamraj…i-i" She began but before she could finish his lips had found hers. She was melting in bliss…this felt so perfect…

Dharamraj was shocked…After all these years of her telling him to bugger off she was…kissing him? Woah! Wait…they were..kissing? All of a sudden he yelled in happiness. He picked a startled Santu up and began running around yelling in glee. Santu couldn't resist…she burst out laughing. He let her down and they both collapsed and laughed breathlessly.

"Dharamraj..." She was still giggling. "Yes…" she finally managed to choke out.

"Haha..ha-yes..-to..what?" He said between laughs. Santu was suddenly nervous.

"Yes.... I'll go out with you." Dharamraj was still registering what she had said when she was back on top of him snogging him senseless.

End of flashback

That was the beginning of a love so strong nothing could conquer it…Of a love so sweet all the candy in the world could not compare to it…Of a love so rich that all the gold in the world didn't have any hope against it…. …The beginning of a beautiful thing.

Dharamraj and Santu came out of their happy day dreaming and grinned at each other.

"I love you meri Duffer ."

"I love you too Jaan".

They were about to kiss when they were interrupted by a, "haabaa!!" from Shreya who was awake.

Dharamraj sighed as Santu giggled and scooped up her daughter. She was so happy. She loved her Dharamraj and her Shreya so much. Her heart burst with joy when she kissed Dharamraj. And when Shreya smiled up at her she swelled with pride. She knew she'd do anything for her family. She remembered what Dharamraj had said to her just before their wedding… "I'd give my life for you..." And she knew it was true.

Santu grinned up at her husband.

"What do you want for dinner?" she asked.

"You!" He roared and pounced on her. Santu erupted in giggles gasping for her husband not to squash Shreya. He laughed and picked up Shreya, looking into her shocking chocolate brown eyes…his eyes… He was so proud of his daughter.

Yes, he thought. His family meant everything to him. He would give his life to anyone of them without a second thought.........................
