Why Did You Go Away? Part 1
DM sat in his armchair reading his newspaper. He didnt feel comfortable, walking over to the the window to let the cool breeze in. His eyes searched the Angaan, where Santu would do tulsi pooja and on rainy days dance... chum chum he could hear her anklets ringing in his ears.
Smiling sorrowfully at the portrait that hung upon the wall, he asked 'Where have you gone? Why couldn't you tell me the truth?'
*Two Years Ago*
Santu woke up, did her chores and left the house, lately Santu had been leaving the house early morning, returning mid afternoon. No-one questioned her of her whereabouts, Why would they? She was loyal and trustworthy.
DM however was curious as to where exactly Santu had been spending her days with. He asked her a few times but she simply replied 'Nowhere special Maalik'. This was not enough for DM.
The next morning, he waited till Santu had gone and followed her. She walked until she reached a small white house. DM had never been here before and neither had Santu ever mentioned this house to him or any relatives that lived here.
Suddenly... a young, handsome man greeted Santu. DM was taken aback, Was what he was seeing reality? He watched the man lead Santu into his house.
DM felt hurt and confused he didnt understand what was happening and how long this had been going on for.
After a couple of hours of thinking he concluded that he would set Santu free from all committments so she could marry and be happy with the man she truly loved.
Santu returned home to find everyone seated in the hall. Everyone looked at her with questioning, sorrowful eyes.
She walked towards Baa and Babuji enquiring 'What has happened?'. They remained silent.
DM held Santu's arm gently... 'you can go when you are ready. I know your truth, you no longer have to be in a relationship that provides you no joy. I followed you and saw where your true happines lies.. you are no longer a bandini. you are now free.'
Santu felt belittled and disbelief in the lack of trust in her husbands words. She didn't say anything in her defence. she took everyone's blessing and walked away.
Hiten and Toral saw what was happening and told Santu that they should tell everyone the truth but Santu stopped them.
'Not this time. Maalik, no longer trusts me if he had ever loved me then he wouldn't have humiliate me infront of everyone. Its too late this time, I have to leave.'
Hiten and Toral both decided that whatever had happened was partially their fault therefore they wouldn't let Santu leave alone and all three left the M-Mansion together.
What happened after that brought a storm into to DM's life and changed Santu and DM's life completely...
