Yup, found a site that sells the book, no synopsis though... back to google it is...

The story in the book and what Ekta is going to show in Bandini is little different. Only the skeltal story from Retpankhi has been taken.
In the book, the girl is an orphan who is forced to marry this elderly widower who has kids her age. She is not accepted by anyone at her husband's place and everyone goes out of their way to make her life miserable.
The girl finally wins everyone's hearts, including her husband's, but due to some tragic circumstances, has to leave him in the end and go away.
I am so not wanting to see this scenario in Bandini and I don't think this is the case here. Only the main characters and background from the book has been taken, rest all is Ekta aunty's own imagination and I am hoping to see a wonderful love story here!
Cheers,
Soapie

Lolz Sukhi...Fairytale with Malik in place? Mushkil hain!😆 But Bandini won't be tragic at all...they can't afford to make a serial into a complete weepy. Just not done!
The show is based on marriage and the novel was not. So there we have the vital difference...Retpankhi showed the oppression of a low-caste, orphan girl and her struggle with life while Bandini tells the story of two individuals seperated by age, caste and economic status putting aside their differences and coming together as one!
Or in any case, this better be true, warna Ekta ko bahut saare hate mail milenge...😆

ok, so the above question was a bit late.. i was talkin about khemi...
As long as there are no extra marital affairs, kids falling in love with the step mother and all, no unbelievably idiotic misunderstandings i'll be fine..

Just for information, Bandini has been adapted from a 1974 novel called 'Retpankhi' by famous vernacular novelist, Varsha Adalja. It is a popular and award winning Gujrati book, which was translated in English in the late 1980's and some of us on the forum, actually happen to read it!
So in all probability, it is Balika Badhu that has 'copied' from the novel and not even bothered to acknowledge the source of its 'cheating' unlike Balaji Telefilms and NDTV Imagine which has mentioned repeatedly that Bandini is sourced from 'Retpankhi.'
On another note, there is a world of difference between the Gehna-Basant track and the one shown in Bandini.
Gehna-Basant track involves marital rape, whereby the bride is completely unwilling and is forced upon physically, emotionally and socially by her husband and made pregnant against her will.
Bandini, if you have bothered to watch the show in the last three weeks, is about a man, unwillingly forced into a marriage with a young girl, because of business related reasons.
Hope this explains and pacifies your anger and agitation over Ekta Kapoor's 'Cheating and Copying issues.'
Regards,
Soapie
