She objected to her brother marrying a divorced woman and took an instant dislike to her because her future SIL did not conform to her idea of a SIL. Just because her to-be SIL is the perceived lead of a show, does not mean every character in the show has to like her.
From being the only girl in the family whose wishes were everybody's command, all her actions were measured against her SIL,who in any case, being the "so called" lead, was a paragon of virtue.
Demoted from her exalted position in the house, Sanchi took it badly and decided to behave in an immature and foolish manner. She was taking revenge on her family for not listening to her. She took extreme measures and was punished equally harshly.
Had her parents and grandfather taken pains to understand the girl better, things may not have taken such drastic turns.

And the cultural difference was just too much to tolerate...stark contrast in lifestyle...of orthodox, backward most rural to very urban, liberal and modern...how dadi sa behaved and reacted seeing Ashima saying quite offensive words against her in their local language because she was culturally very different...So also Sanchi reacted...she had some forms of hopes and anticipation for her future bhabhi which was tragically destroyed...she wanted the best for her handsome, foreign-returned highly educated well-settled never married - never in a relationship single brother ( and she was right too, along with chhoti maa who kept saying Anandi cannot forget her first marriage ...people kept bashign chhoti maa...but she was fatally right...Anandi kept running to BH, dressed like their Bindani and rejected her husband's lifestyle and clothing...was so mad about Bh and Jagya that she was even prepared to lose shiv and her marriage just to side up with Jagya...she destroyed Shiv's life and killed his two children...the girl...who is the Shivraj Shekhar's daughter would be twice pampered than Sanchi, but now she is a tortured slave thanks to Anandi and the boy is in her mom's ex's house and Anandi is busy solving her ex's matters like Shiv's son does not exist...) someone rural and again divorcee and who would run to her ex for no reason and at every chance...Anandi not accepting Shiv physically added fuel to fire...first she was socially quite unfit for Shiv and his family and she rejected Shiv and her current sasural in favor of BH and kachhi umar ke pakke rishte...(when Anandi is the greatest example of impossible attachment to Bal Bibah how can she hold Puja responsible...in Ganga-Mannu-Ratan issue she was right, Jagya had wronged her ...but here she is wrong and I must say so) ...and the show was double standard again..if it is Anandi's Jaitsar saheli, she can marry an American returned that too against dadi bua's consent...but when Sanchi-Jagya issue, she brags about cultural difference..!!
Moreover Anandi tried to run Sanchi's life...what she will wear, when she will sleep and what she will eat and where she will go...she is trendy city girl...why do you want her to behave like same Jaitsar ganwar ...who was she...just a Bhabhi...the fact that my brother married you Anandi, does not make you own my life...you are not my mom ...that was what Sanchi has to say...she resented the nose poking by Anandi...when Anandi, after marriage, dresses like Jaitsar bindni, why did she try to change Sanchi's super urban city lifestyle instead of adopting to them?? Only her parents and grand parents have right to say and they don't...(City Elite people pamper girls, give them equality and freedom, fun, unlike you Jaitsar people for whom girls are baby making machines tied and bound in ghunghat and marital raping and assault machines like Ganga, urmi, gehna and others...)..And she is the sort of bhabhi who chooses to side with the man who dumped her ... So Sanchi hating Anandi was quite justified.
Anandi was so much into her ex-sasural and kachi umr ke pakke rishte that after their son Shiv's death, his family decided to let Anandi live in BH and in their contact for good and even sacrificed their own grandson and lost their grand daughter...if Anandi was a blessing to BH, she was a curse to Shv and his family...his children, Shiv committed only one mistake in life...that is marrying Anandi...else ladkiyon ke line lagjate Shiv ke liye...had he married some other girl of his culture, single and in love with Shiv, he would be happy with his kids, wife and family...
So chhoti maa's concern was spot on and Sanchi's disliking too and reason for disliking Ganga was she was after the man she was about to wed who had no standard to be Shiv's family's maid servant even.

At least after marrying the lawyer, Sanchi never thought about Jagya and her loyalties lay with her husband and she is happily married and settled now in her preferred urban life with a great paying job in MNC...thank god she did not marry in Jaitsar and tolerated husband's ex Anandi 24/7 ... doing tel malish in ghunghat living in Jaitsar (it suits people like Ganga and Anandi, not Sanchi who is brought up like a Princess) where I doubt there is a cinema hall let alone a mall or any place of fun and frolic like swimming pool or hotels or facilities of city life ...loving in laws and husband and quite successful professionally too...anandi is a big failure, her loyalties are always with Bh and her child marriage sasural and bindh and she is nothing much professionally too and the GaNga who she chose over Sanchi now is treating her like dirt...it is her Karma for lying in court in favor of a man who dumped another woman like her.
