I prefer side characters to main characters. Main characters are usually one dimensional. They have limited growth.

While side characters show the real people, their behaviour.

While the main characters maybe the face, it is the side characters who supply oxygen and blood.

Main characters are idealized versions, sometimes far from reality. While most side characters are flesh and blood characters.

Do we want to see only young husband and wife, making small talk and looking into each others eyes, hugging each other in episode after episode?

This is a fiction show.People watch it to escape from reality and not to remind themselves of all the problems they face in the real world with real people.

Healthy dose of fiction where people get to see something they can only dream of most of the times and not experience in real life mixed with some amount of realism is necessary for entertainment.

Majority like to see young good looking couple looking into each others eyes and talking more than the so called real life characters which seem to have no basis for their behavior ex :Sanchi and DB.

I am not talking about any side characters in particular.

Once in a while it is ok to see young goodlooking couple in romantic mood.

But a long running serial needs the family to sustain it more than romance. Romance should be part of life and not vice versa.

Balika Vadhu has maintained balance very well and I appreciate them for it. Basant, Bhairon created as strong impression as the younger leads and what to say about dadisa who still casts her spell like a magician.
