Was searching for someone's status and what I got was-

On a personal front, I'd like that my show doesn't get stretched beyond its limits and a good story doesn't get spoiled. You can easily see that I have still kept alive the essence of its theme. The day I would feel it is being stretched out I'd like to end it. It's better to bid a dignified farewell to a successful show than to keep stretching it.

But things are not always in our hands. Once a story acquires a slot on a channel, the writer hardly exercises the prime control over its story because by then, the channel's monetary interests are also vested in the show.

This is when you need to add new stories and fresh tracks. As writers we all share the wisdom that no single story can run for 7-8 years. We have to bring many stories together and weave them into one. It depends on the writer and his talent to do it convincingly.

So until and unless the channel gets another equally profitable show that can replace it, they won't put an end to it.

if we again talk about Balika Vadhu, you can see that the characters of Jagdish (Jagya), Kalyaani and Gehna are much more multidimensional and complex than Aanandi or Sumitra.

Therefore as a writer, you can play around with the secondary characters, male and female both. It is a much more enjoyable process to write them. But there is no scope experimentation with the heroine's character. It is sad but true.

Now it's a personal feeling of mine that the channel-people are unnecessarily frightened of the TRPs. I think they are neglecting a basic thing. See, you need to have a graph in your story and that is what which creates interest. But when you are trying to reach from one peak to the other, you will have to jump and soon it will become a plateau. You have to get down from one cliff and then try and go for a higher peak.

You can't have a perennial ascending graph. Not only it would be dull but it is impossible to achieve. The fluctuation is essential and natural.

Keep your eyes, mind and heart open and be responsive to whatever you see around. As a writer, you'll have to pick your subjects, characters and stories from your surroundings.

Maintain closeness with your family if you wish to write for TV. It's necessary for a television writer to have a deep understanding of the complexities of human relationships and the warmth of family bonding.
