Agree that the men need to be taught to respect women but I don't get what is wrong in teaching the girls self-defense. It is such a huge confidence booster for the women knownin they can take on any man. And even men do all these knowing women are weaker physically. So, if the girls show them they can physically stand up to these men what is worng in that.

Changing mindsets is going to take a long time. So, till that time the women are supposed to wait for the men's mindset to change ? Self-defense is something better than nothing and it is one of the steps we have to take to make our country safe.

self defence is find...nothing wrong in tht but it will help only a small section of woman tht too if they r lucky enoughto escape.
A large section of woman and girls r still at risk...
and we cant sweep this under the carpet tht mentality will take ling tume to take...i hav been hearing this for 30 years...is there a time limit ?
Unfortunately I dont see any effort by the media n govt in changing the mentality...even ngos focus on prevention rather than handeling the men.

If fear of law can be instilled in other counties why not India ??
Our men r no diff frm others...the cases we hear in news r juat the tip of the iceberg...the conviction n reporting rape in india is very very low...
And if the curlpit is influential he will walk off scot free.

My cousin is a doc n work with an ngo who give therapy to rape victims...they get 15-20 rape victims every week...and 90% of cases remain unresolved or unreported...somewhere the laws r failing miserably.its the failure of govt and the society.

Oh no Maliika don't be so harsh !!!! u know the poor rapist is just a child a minor in front of law...they will only give him strict punishment when he turns adult and gets released from the jail and attempt some more sever rapes 🤢...our Govt. needs more Nirbhaya to give punishment to such devils...just one case is not enough for them 😡

And I might sound the harshest here, but I wish the public would take things in its own hands and mete out fit punishments - in case the courts don't.

The roads and the world belongs to her just as it belongs to a man.Why should she rely on the goodness of men and good behavior of men?

Self defence classes are only aimed at working women and college going girls that group is vulnerable to attacks.

Do these women have to stay out of the roads till the men get some sense into their heads?

What is wrong in making a woman more self confident?

Why so much opposition to helping a woman learn how to defend herself?

Why wait only for laws to be made and enforced?

What is wrong if a woman is taught teach a potential rapist a lesson??

I have no idea about self defense but i live in the city/country where i dont need it...and i can go home walking alone at 1 am or 2 am after a dinner with friends and since it is one of the hottest cities in Spain it includes short skirts/ open t-shirts in short not much clothes...and i dont need self defense...i think that is what Muku is trying to say😃

@Yas ur lucky...in india mentality is still changing 😆 which will take centuries 😕
