Believe me self-respect cannot be determined by someone else's actions against me and I think that is exactly what you are doing. You are determining Anandi's self-respect through Jagia & Gauri's actions or now through Sanchi's . Whatever Jagia did, he lowered his own respect in his DS's, Aji's and whole family's eyes but I refuse to believe that it did any damage to Aji's self-respect. As far as I can see, she became apple of everyone's eyes thanks to Jagia's adultery. She studied became the sarpanch so gained so much self-confidence & respect...thanks to her tenacity and courage. If you would have noticed Ira has been rude to her but has eaten her words and apologized every time. Sanchi ( we know she is doing it to please Aji) but did say sorry so people inflicting pain have apologized or have vanished in thin air like Gauri 😆

Anandi is a strong self respecting women...as she could forgive childish Jagia after all that he had put her through. Forgiveness is mark of a strong women. She forgave J as she saw him truly repenting for what he did, how would that damage her own self-respect? If you really understand or well try to understand self-respect it's a lot more than it seems at face value. Self-respect is not as brittle as you are making it.

I firmly believe that self-respect can only be made and destroyed by one's own actions, not by someone else's.

No matter what Jagia did to Aji's but her respect for HER OWN SELF never got affected. Her self respect and faith in humanity is intact.

Well, I did not want JaAn reunion but that was not for self respect of Aji ... I always felt they were not meant for each other. There was an underlying disconnect in their relationship. But if Aji would have chosen to accept J even after all he had done then I would have thought that there was true love and understanding in their relationship ...J just got a bit wayward😛, I really cannot see how that would lower her self-respect.

At first I also took self-respect at face value and I pretty much had the same opinion as you Libs...( With age comes maturity😳) but if you really understand or well try to understand self-respect it's a lot more than it seems at face value. Self-respect is not as brittle as you are making it out.
