I full agree with you two. But everyone keeps cribbing for something new on TV in terms of content, and some concepts have worked with good handling by CVs and directors. Remember SB at the start? For a new channel and a new show it got some very good TRPs in the beginning because of its story and good direction, despite the content being very dark. If only CVs didn't mess up big time by glorifying just 1 character and moving away from its main theme, it had all the makings of a top-rated show.
If at least 1 PH or channel decide to take initiative to give importance only to the story and not TRPs I strongly believe it will make a lot of difference, because honestly, TV today is down in the dumps. It needs something new to revive it.
The widow in Daastan seems to be the very conventional Indian widow, dressed in white, demure, very sacrificial etc. Not much novelty there. But in Silver Linings, the character does weird things like, signing up for a dance reality show (among other strange things) when she doesn't know a thing about dance, does various things to shock people or her family. People don't mention her husband's name around her beacause there's no saying how she will react.
