Right said. Perhaps people need to be more careful in putting their views across. Surekha ji is a veteran. She's a product of NSD, one of the leading (but less acknowledged) faces of India's arthouse/new wave cinema movement in 80s, has superb body of work on Doordarshan itself. These Zee, Sony, Colors shows are just other feathers on her cap!

No one in BV cast can even stand in front of these veterans like Surekha Sikri (and the man who played Mahaveer Singh. Even the one playing Daddu has several successful plays, films and TV shows to his credit).

These people got public glued to TV even before much of BV cast was born. It's sacrilege to take others' name in same line as these legends'!

A true test for Pratyusha's talent would be to see her bring her magic to another show and make a success of it. Then we can talk, otherwise she might just turn out to be a one trick pony. She has yet to prove her longevity in the business.

@ pari - Just to answer your Qn. Show can go on without anyone when the exit is clean. Announce before hand, end the track properly, give a good closure and then bring in whoever you want. Here it was all done in a hurry with 2 days notice with callous disregard to the viewers of 4 yrs. In my opinion the replacement is also not good. All in all...am getting a substandard product and since am the buyer here...I should have been properly informed if you want to bring a drastic change in the ingredients.

and YES - sometimes the actors do get bigger than the shows because of their fan following. Case in point - Barun Sobti. I dont know if he will be sucessful in his other ventures...but they had to shut shop because he quit.

I agree to your last point whole heartedly. She suits the role of Anandi and does her job really well here. That does not mean she could do a good job in other serials or any other venture. She does have a long way to go to prove herself...but she has proved in BV that she knows Anandi really well.

The barun sobti show does not have strong story. It's the main leads that ran the show with their chemistry. Don't compare that show with BV. He left the show for movies. It's obvious if u get fryers from movies anyone would opt movies. If Sid contract is over with BV team and he getting offers from movies he will quit BV without even thinking twice. Actors r very ambitious about third careers.

However a hoard of new viewers have come in to BV for Sid and Prats. The chemistry is now gone. The older viewers like my Mum and aunts have related to Prats during her depression stage acting and were VERY much attached to her screen presence and they feel betrayed that Prats as Anandi only suffered and when happiness is here, then she is replaced. All am saying here is Anandi was a person we related to. Even though infidelity was dealt in several shows..here it showed a bubbly, lively girl becoming a shell of her former self and we followed her journey. Pratyusha was amazing in many many difficult scenes which the older generation have appreciated. So...She is a star in her own right in BV.

@bold. You're right. But in this situation there is a lot of hearsay. Pratyusha herself says she cannot give time. Whatever the reasons, whatever the situation, both parties parted amicably, as far as we know. I refuse to follow sheep mentality and believe whatever rumors are thrown out there. Speculations can go in favour of or against either parties. Bottom line is that the show must go on. For how long, we will see. But making Pratyusha the victim here is not doing her any favours. She made a decision and so did the PH. Why should the replacement be unjustly devalued because of the suddenness in decision of BOTH parties.

I understand ur feelings. I too want Sid with prats but we cannot get her back now. I prefer to watch my favorite show instead of cribbing about why pratyusha left the show. Frankly speaking lot of new viewers came back only after Sid entry not bcos of prats. Viewers got bored of anandi jaga gauri story and everybody wanted a guy for anandi. People lied Sid as shiv character was very well written. I bet if there was no guy in anandi life all the new viewers would not have cared so much for prats exit. It's very hard to accept this but its true. I also agree without anandi ansh is incomplete, so people u like Sid will not like him romancing with toral.

Suddenness in the decision is the issue here Pari. Atleast 15 days notice is decent. You cant change an actor in 3 days. Even Toral has said in an interview she was auditioning for another show and they hurriedly picked her for Anandi without even auditioning with Siddharth.

if the exit is clean and is mutual...Why do we have mud slinging articles and interviews with random persons defaming Pratyusha 3 days after she quit? If the decision was mutual and hunky dory..then do not unleash stupid articles and interviews about Pratusha not paying a hair dresser. Bad taste.

If the decision was made months before hand...they could given a logical end to the AnSh love story. Confession and they getting intimate would all have been over and change the actor when they are getting on in life like a normal couple. Why now at this juncture? As an audience..I feel cheated and so do many others.

Finally...Thanks to you and Sheetsden for holding a normal argument without getting personal or angry.

I like a good discussion too Lavy. Thank you for taking it in good spirit and actually being prepared to hear another side.

I understand you feel cheated, and frustrated. it's just that there are so many rumors, and since when has the media ever been responsible and not promoted sensational stories. This situation could have been brewing for a while, and probably got out of hand at some point. Who knows? I am just speculating. Nothing concrete here. One thing I 'read' was that Toral had auditioned initially when they replaced Avika. But she was the second choice and Pratyusha won the role. It seems natural that they would forego the formality of another audition if they were rushed to find a replacement. Again, this is just pure speculation.
