As I said before...its a page turner...

its a thriling plot with Jagya as a full-fledged villian...very different from the show...makes it interesting

This update is dedicated to Zarna, such an ardent fan and supporter. I hope this chapter lives up to everyone's expectations. Please let me know what to improve upon because it is for you, my dear readers that I write. I also apologize for the Hindi but I feel that certain dialogues lose their intensity or their original meaning and depth if translated. Please PM me for translations if necessary.

The phone rang somewhere in the background as Anandi pulled away from Shiv who was fast asleep. She answered it groggily and registered Mahi's voice on the phone. 'Bhabhiii! Can you hear me? Are you there? Are you still asleep? Did bhaiyya not let you sleep? Hawww' Mahi teased. Anandi sat up and looked at the clock on the wall: 10: 32 AM, it read. OMG, she must have fallen asleep in Shiv's arms when he pulled her back. It was so late and he was late too. She realised she was holding the phone and Mahi was asking her if she was there. 'Yes, Mahi. I am here. What's up?' She asked him. 'Bhabhi, I am coming home tonight and since we won, and I was man of the match, I want to throw a party. So, I want you and Shiv bhaiyya to come., Mahi said. 'Mahi, are you sure this is a good time to party? Dadu isn't well. I don't think ma or choti ma will allow it', Anandi replied somberly. She was sure Shiv too would be annoyed at the fact that Mahi was inconsiderate enough to host a party with his teammates when their dadu was unwell. 'Relax bhabhi; the party is at the Taj. I am not that insensitive, and just so you know I'm bringing a friend too,' Mahi said. 'Oh my God! You are bringing Shreya!' Anandi squealed into the phone causing Shiv to open an eye and look at his wife. She never ceased to amaze him. One moment she was so mature, so calm, so reasonable and the next she was squealing with delight. Shiv smiled to himself, awed at the contrast, and as the sun rays crept into the room he registered what time it was. Then, remembering it was Saturday, he turned over muttering to himself about how no one ever let him sleep in peace, or let him spend any quality time with his wife.

'Shiv! Shiv! SHIV!' Anandi nudged him with a finger, feigning fake horror at the fact that her husband could sleep until 12p.m. She had given Shiv time to get up, while she got ready. 'Shiv!' Anandi tried again, pulling the duvet off him. 'Shiv, suniye na; do you think it is wise for Mahi to have this party? I am worried it's going to look so insensitive and selfish', Anandi reasoned with him. 'I really want to meet Shreya, but don't you think its would be wiser just to have a quite dinner and Mahi can have this party later. You do know, regardless of wherever he has the party, it will be covered by the media', she said to him. Shiv sat up, and took her hand in his. 'Anandi, I don't think Mahi understands the extent or the seriousness of dadu's illness. He's very shielded and spoiled. He knows dadu is unwell but not any of the details. Choti ma and ma decided to keep it that way. But, I think you are right. I will call him and ask him to change his plans to dinner only,' Shiv said. 'He's bringing Shreya. Do you think the family is ready to meet Shreya?', Anandi asked him. 'I don't know Anandi. We have been busy here, with the contractor meetings and your new idea about the school cultural program fundraiser. I haven't had a chance to ask choti ma and ma, because they are trying to get dadu's tests done. Papa is busy with his new export orders that need to be shipped off in 2 weeks. I don't think Mahi's love affair has been a priority at the moment,' Shiv stated. Anandi hoped her and Shiv could meet her first and gauge if she was ready to meet the family or if Mahi and her needed to take time. 'Fine, it's decided then. Can I go back to sleep?' Shiv asked with a serious expression even though he was joking. 'SHIV! Mahi is flying to Udaipur today from Mumbai. You need to speak to him as we just discussed. I thought we could go home. We can spend time with dadu too. However, you are more interested in sleeping. Fine!' and she attempted to walk away as Shiv held her hand. 'I was teasing, Anandi. Don't walk away from me, Mujhe chod kar maat jaya karo..mein nahin reh paunga tumhare bina', Shiv softly said. Anandi turned back and sat on the bed smiling at him. 'Let's go to Udaipur, see dadu and meet Mahi's friend. I know you want to meet her, and so do I. I'll get ready. But Anandi, promise me you would leave me. I would die'. The last sentence was whispered to her, and if Anandi had not been looking at Shiv intently she may have missed what he had said. Anandi put her hand on his mouth feeling an agony more severe than any other sear through her at the thought of losing Shiv.

*********************************************************************************************************

Mahi sighed as he hung up and looked at Shreya. There would be no party, just a dinner with his bhaiyya and bhabi. He had just been told that dadu was undergoing a series of tests and it would seem insensitive to throw a lavish party. His brother had sounded serious over the phone. He was beginning to get seriously worried about dadu. 'Shreya, do you mind if we just have dinner. We will throw a grand party when your new movie is a superhit,' Mahi stated feeling terrible for cancelling what the party they had both been looking forward to. But what his brother said made sense. It would not do to throw lavish parties at the moment. Shreya smiled at Mahi; happy to be around him, to be introduced to the brother and sister-in-law he thought the world of, to be part of his world. She did not need a party; she just wanted to be around him, with him. 'It's alright, Mahi. I am happy to go to just dinner,' and she squeezed his hand tightly. Mahi smiled at her, his amethyst eyes lighting up causing the butterflies in Shreya's stomach to flutter around again. The plan was that Mahi would stay at home and Shreya at the Taj. She would have dinner with Mahi, his Shiv bhaiyya and Anandi bhabhi, and if she was lucky visit his parents. Mahi had promised to take her sightseeing and since she did not have any shootings or ramp shows for 4 days, she was quite looking forward to her holiday.

*******************************************************************************************************

Shiv had turned on the TV while he was getting ready for their trip home. He had to be back ASAP, and he had explained to Bheem Singh that the contractors were going to submit the final quotations for the contracts by Monday at 5p.m. He would be back by Tuesday AM he had said and look at them, and pick carefully the best man for the job. He had also left instructions regarding the sponsors that Bheem Singh had to call. The difficult task was going to be getting sponsors. Shiv wished Anandi applied for more funding for extracurricular activities rather than try to raise funds from sponsors. He had a gnawing fear that business sponsors, in the interest of advertisement and sales would not be too happy to sponsor young girls from a small town in Rajasthan. Sponsoring them would do nothing for them. Then again, they may consider it charity and try and claim it back from the government as a tax free deduction from income tax. Anandi would never accept charity. He would have to figure something out. The best option would be to apply for more funding and not involve any private sponsors.

***************************************************************************************************

Shiv and Anandi had been ready to go to Udaipur when Bhim Singh announced that the Jeep had broken down and they would have to take the car. Shiv didn't mind and was quite glad as the car had air conditioning that would save them from the sweltering Rajasthan heat. As he and Anandi, drove towards Udaipur, he noticed Anandi was subdued as if lost deep in thought. He knew she worried for him, for his safety, and for his protection. He knew she would go to any extent to protect him. He reprimanded himself inwardly; he should have been the one protecting her, never letting Jagdish give her any more sorrow. Shiv was aware that Jagya knew that the best way to hurt Anandi was to hurt those closest to her. He knew Jagya would want to hurt him because hurting Shiv would mean hurting Anandi. But Shiv also knew that his love had the power to erase the past and make it better. He hoped against hope that his wife would not overlook the volumes that his gestures spoke; hoped that she realised that his only desire was to cherish her existence in his life, forever. That unlike Jagya, there was no deviousness, no ulterior motive, no ego involved in the love he showered her with. He hoped she understood that he would heal every wound Jagya had given her, heal to such an extent that no trace, no shadow of pain would be left behind.

Shiv decided to turn the radio on then and as if mirroring his thoughts the words of a song played:

Tumse dil jo lagaya toh jahaan maine paaya kabi socha na tha yeh milon door hoga sayaa

Kyun Khudha tune mujhe aisa kwabh dikhaya jab haqeeqat main usse tod na tha

Saara din beet jaaye saariraat jagaye baas khayal tumhara lamha lamha tadpaaye

Yeh tadap keh rahi hai mith jaaye faasle yeh tere mere darmiyaan jo hai saare

Teri meri baaton ka har lamha sab se anjaana do lafzon mein yeh bayaan na ho paaye

Har ehsaas mein tu hai har ek yaad mein tera afsana do lafzon mein yeh bayaan na ho paye

Teri meri meri teri prem kahaani hai mushkil do lafzon mein yeh bayaan na ho paaye

Anandi looked at Shiv as the song played and then whispered to him, 'kwabh ko mauka diya hai humne Shiv, itni aasani se toot ne nahin denge isse, as she put her hand on his arm as he drove. Shiv unsure if he had heard right, afraid of looking at her while driving changed the station and another song played:

Aahat khwabon ki, chahat dhadkan ki Unke kadamoon ke hai ye nishaan

Chahe kuch na bolu, chahe raaz na kholu Ye samajthe hai meri zubaan

Mujhpe barsi jo teri nigaahein Meri saanson ne badli adaayein

Aise naino ki baaton mein koi kyun na aaye Tere naina, tere naina, tere naina re

Tere naina, raahein saja de Tere naina, doori mita de

Tere naina, dhadkan ko bhada de Tere naina, palkon mein samaa le

Wallah

Zakham pe marham, tere naina Dhool pe shabnam, tere naina

Jag bhoole bhoole, tere naina Dil chu le chu le, tere naina

Tere nainon ke aagey jo taare bhi sharamaye ..Pa ni sa ni sa ni dha pa ni dha pa ma ga re sa

Tere naina, tere naina

'This song describes what I feel about your eyes', Shiv whispered and Anandi smiled at him her heart beating the the fast paced rhythm she was growing accustomed to.

*****************************************************************************************************

Jagya kept calling Anandi's phone but it kept repeating an out of coverage area message, so in fury he called up the Collector Offices and was told by Bhim Singh that Shiv and Anandi had gone to Udaipur, and when prodded further said that they were meeting Mahi at the Taj. 'You can run, but you can't hide Anandi', Jagya said as he poured himself some coffee. I will find you even if you go to the ends of the world with that husband of yours. So Jagya called the Taj and booked a suite for himself; he was going to Udaipur too.
