It was time for the wedding ceremony to begin. The groom is called to the mandap. Shiv is taken to the mandap. The rasam of the wedding begins from the very first step to the mandap. Shiv does the rasam. He has to do the initial pooja which the groom does. He pays attention to every mantra the pundit chants and understands its meaning. He does everything he is told to do. It was the time for the dulhan to join him. Anandi is brought to the mandap by Shyaam and Sugna. They seat her next to Shiv. The mantras continue and so do the rasams. Shiv gives aahuti with every mantra and Anandi places her right hand on his right fore arm while doing the rasams.They perform each rasam with purity and complete devotion. The mandap was surrounded by their family and friends. The other grooms and brides had settled on their respective mandaps. Their wedding ceremonies too begin.
It was time for the 'jaimaal' ceremony. Anandi and Shiv have to get up for the raasam. They were given garlands. The games began. Anandi had to first put the jai maal around Shiv's neck. "Shiv jhukna mat aaj jhuk gaya toh bhabhi ke saamne jeevan bhar jhuk kar rahega." His friends give him sound advice. As if he weren't tall enough for her his friends came and picked him up even higher. It was very difficult for Anandi to reach him. "Arre aapko kya lagta hai dulhe ke doston humaari Anandi akeli hai?" Shyaam, Lal Singh and Abhiskekh ask in one voice. They come and pick Anandi even higher. Shiv's friends try to hoist him even higher. Anandi herself leaps just a bit forward. She is able to put the garland around his neck. In the process she almost falls on Shiv but he holds her in place. They are brought down with Shiv still holding her. She signs him to let her go. He lets her go. Every body clapped for them.
Now it was Shiv's time to do the mehnat. The men on her side step aside. The girls pull Anandi backwards and sideways every time Shiv tried to put the garland around her neck. She was too enjoying Shiv being teased. He gave her a please surrender look. She gave him a mischievious smile refusing to do so. His friends were of no help. They were teasing him. He turns back to them and in a very serious mode is discussing something. Anandi tries to listen but she can't. She sees that he is very serious. He tells his friends to cut the masti. "Anandiji ek minute zara suniye." The girls hold her back as she was about to move forward. "Anandiji wo Jaitsar aur aas paas ke gaon mein pakki sadaken banwane ke project ke bare mein ek bahut important baat aapse share karni hai. Abhi yaad aayi hai please sun lijiye. Shaadi ke baad Minister Sahib yahan hain toh unse discuss kar lenge. Please aage aaiye confidential baat hai aapke kaan mein hi keh sakta hoon." He said in his serious collector voice. The girls were not convinced but they let her go as she insisted that it was a very important work related matter. She steps forward towards Shiv. He immediately puts the garland around her neck. She is stunned at his action. He gives her a sly smile while she blushes. Everyone again clapped and showered them with multi colored rose petals as the Jaimaal was done.
It was time for the kanyadaan. Sumitra and Bhairon join them on the mandap. They do the kanyadaan and place Anandi's hand in Shiv's hand. They give her to him forever. They touch Anandi and Shiv's head to each other's. They are blessed by Bhairon and Sumitra. The three of them get very emotional and Shiv squeezes Anandi's hand to console her and also wipes her tears with his free hand. A small smile appears on her face. The mantras continue and some more rasams. It was time for the 'Gatbandhan' ceremeony. Saachi steps forward and puts a 'khes' pink cloth around Shiv's neck. She ties Anandi's chunar to the khes. She is told to tie the knot very tightly so that their saath remains strong forvever and ever. She hugs and kisses her Anandi bhabhi.
Shiv now has to put the bichhuaa's on her middle toes. He places beautiful toe rings on her feet. This is the first suhaag ki nishaani that the bride is adorned with during the wedding ceremony. Mahi here too teases Shiv,"Bhaiyya jaldi kijiye bhabhi ke pairon ko baad mein nihaariyega. Abhi aapke mann main wo 'Pakeeza' ka dialogue {Aapke pair bahut sundar hain inhe zameen par mat rakhiyega maile ho jaayenge} aa raha hoga na? Bhabhi ko baad mein fursat mein suna dijiyega." Anandi did not get the joke but blushed and Shiv could do nothing but blush.
"Devarjee bhai bhabhi ki itni bhi kichaai mat kijiye ki naraaz ho jaye. Meri devraani ko jaldi jaldi ghar lana hai ya nahi? Aapke bhai bhabhi hi aapke kaam aayenge yaad rakhiyega." "Sahi kaha Anandiji. Sun le Mahi bahut kichai ki humaari toh' Accha zara bata toh wo main MBA karne London ki kitne baje wali flight mein gaya tha?" Shiv too goves him a cute warning that they will pack off Ashi if he teases them too much. "Nahi nahi bhai bhabhi aisa gazab mat kijiyega wo kya hai na bhabhi ki devraani jitni jaldi aayegi aapko utna hi zyaada waqt milega ek saath. Warna bhaiyya aap bedroom main aur bhabhi aap kitchen mein." Shiv and Anandi together were trying to battle natkhat Mahi. Everyone looked on and enjoyed the ched chad.
They are asked to get up for the pheras. Shiv gets up and sees that Anandi is having trouble getting up. He puts forth his hand and helps her up. He had noticed at the time when she was selecting it that her wedding trousseau along with the jewelry was very heavy. He was not there in person but she had sent him a pic on the phone. He did not say anything as she had loved it. The pundit instructs them that the first four pheras the groom would walk ahead and then the bride would walk ahead for the last three feras. With every phera they have to say a vachan. For the first four pheras Shiv walked in front and repeated the vachan and also understood the meaning of it.
It was time for the fifth phera and Anandi steps forward. She too repeats the vachan and understaood the meaning of it. After the sixth phera and vachan was said and done. It was time for the last phera and the last vachan. Shiv hears the vachan and stops in his place. Anandi moves ahead but feels a pull. She looks back at Shiv who is frozen in his place. "Chaliye. Ye aakhri phera hai. Main aage chalti hoon aap chaliye. Shaadi poori nahi ho sakti iss aakhri phere ke bina." Anandi makes him understand as she knows why he stopped.
Everyone tells Shiv to move but he doesn't. He comes and stands with Anandi. She tells him to step back and follow her but he does not instead he held her hand. "Main jeeoonga toh aapke saath aur maroonga toh aapke saath. Mujhpar aane waale sankat ko aap khud par lene ka vachan de rahi hain toh main bhi ye vachan deta hoon ki aap par aane vale sankat ko main khud par loonga." They take the last phera together walking side by side. They smile at each other and everyone around them thank God for making this couple. They sit down for the mangal haar and sindoor daan ceremony. Before they could go ahead with the ceremonies an ear tearing scream is heard.
