manismat nobody was saying hitler and mistress are comparable at all. I have clarified that in all my earlier posts

Besides ,where dictionary meaning is concerned - because they say 'usually a married man' , then it might not always be used to apply to married man either . But here it was clearly used to apply to an extramarital relation in a derogatory way..

as for historically contexts being important in our reception of any word- ofcourse they are important - because whether we find a word originally meant to just describe something neutrally as offensive depends on how its historically employed. For instance before hitler , the term hitler held no derogatory meaning at all - it was simply a proper name ! we consider it extremely derogatory now because of the way a historical character given that name commited one of the worst crimes in humanity and hence anyone labelled hitler now would find it deeply offensive.

its not the etymological or dictionary meaning, but its historical use over a period of time which carries a negative content when used to apply in other contexts - because its historical use has vested it with a negative connotation with potentially abusive implications...

so rohini's comment on feeling hurt at the use of this term comes from the way its been used in the past against other women...

@anjana,
on hitler, there is a lot of right-wing reivalism in India. The kind of north-indian bashing we see in maharashtra, the recent violence against north-easterners across India, are all products of a collective xenophobic mind which is gaining strength by day.
All the more reason we ought not tobe so causual about the use of Hitler etc.

Rohini...you are treading on thin ice now😆 Politics can be an explosive issue..too much so...to be discussed in a fictional forum! I wouldn't advice it😆

@Anjana...even i had epic fights with mods through pms ...har baat pay critcizim ..can't even name a couple no abusive word but was only using another name which fan group didnt use and mod was no way only one name at a time hadh hay...i left the forum in the end along with serial bhaad mein jao😆

yes you are not very kind to Jagaya...😆in fact no one is here perhaps i am .somewhere because i find myself somewhere close to be being kind to him 😆. well i hope that day comes when people's heart softens towards him like for dadisaa seriously people use to hate her so much though some still do to defend their favorite character 🥱though she is redeemed so much but still DS won hearts of most .so hopefully for J that day will come too ..he was a good character ..loved by people after leap but cvs messed up with him now hopefully they will bring the lost jagdish back 😆 .Shashank i love him but i am not the ones who love characters on basis of actors which is a big problem on IF ..so i do criticize J where he is wrong .but i think some members are actually mixing real with reel when someone bashes shanky all i will say to that person grow up ..he is no Jagaya in real

@dolly ...yeah i know you and i are talking about same forum 😆

I understand...isiliye toh bola tumhe...sometime we don't realise the implications of the words we use. So then it is good to accept others' POV...in this case Anajana's since she stays out in the west😊

Robin - sadly there is a rise in xenophia many parts of the world...even parts of Europe again. Even in the U.S. a few weeks ago a white supremacist massacred people at a Sikh Temple on a Sunday thinking they were muslim .

There are ways of owning negative words, but trivialization of certain things leads to repetition of historical wrongs that we should have globally learnt from already.

Sadly that's just not the case be it the genocide taking place now in Syria while the world watches passively despite Rwanda and Croatia, etc.

@rohini ...agree on all counts with you comments about use of term etc...also rising xenophobia...have lots more to say on that topic but the combination of manasi's warning and sleep calling have dissuaded me at the moment 😊

wonder if u guys heard of somebody recently opened a swanky clothing store calld hitler somewhere in india - when faced with criticism they first defended saying they had no idea about the negative connotations , their grandfather was called hitler etc...( ela they used very similar excuses !!) and then demanded compensation for removing the board for expenses incurred. Here is the story

koi mujhe bachao in AnSh or JaAn polls sai .😵..someone put IF COC on them ..still people are living in doubts cvs are so clear in their serial that AnSh marriage will happen 100 percent and Jagaya is coming back to his family ..in his imagination , people coming to his rescue in real his family members no Anandi while cvs are busy in showing either Anandi going away from him or him from her ..still...this has crossed all limits
