That Night…
Shiv was looking at the mirror on his closet. He looked at the golden shervani and smiled to himself. It was not very usual for the collector of Jetsar to admire himself but tonight was different. He liked the way he looked. Every moment he saw that there was a smile that was emerging for no reason. He felt like a schoolboy who had developed his first crush.
Shiv whats happening to you? He questioned himself
'Abh muskurana band bhi karo , ghar walon main sey kisi nay bhi dekh liya tho thumhari band baj jayegi' he whispered to his image
He then started to unbutton his shervani when his eyes fell upon at the cell that was lying on the table besides his closet.
'Abhi call karunga tho … sahih rahega? he asked himself
'nahi…kahin bura na manjaye' he reasoned again
'Lekin abh tho voh thumhari mangethar hai. Bura kiyun manengi' he reasoned once again
Without his knowledge his fingers automatically started to dial the number.
Soon he heard the ring
RING
His heart started to race.
'Oh come on control yourselves. Yeh pehli baar thodi na hai ki thum Anandi sey baat kernay ja rahe ho' he said to himself
Anandi who was removing her jewelry absentmindedly her mind still on the events that had happened earlier heard the ring.
She looked at the time
11:30 PM
A crease appeared on her forehead
'kon ho saktha hai' she thought to herself.
She then picked up the phone and saw
Collector Sahab written on the caller id
Her heart suddenly felt heavy. Her breathing had started to race.
She wondered why she was feeling that way. It was not as if she was talking to him for the first time.
Shaking her head with annoyance at her own silly behavior she picked up the phone
'Hello' she said softly
'Sorry Anandi maine aapko disturb tho nahi ker diya?' asked shiv tentatively
'ji nahi….Kahiye' she said wondering what he wanted to talk about at this hour
'kaise hain aap' asked shiv.. not realizing what had blurted out of his mouth
'am mera matlab hai, kaisa laga aapko aaj ka din' he said correcting himself
'acha tha' replied Anandi. Not knowing what to say to him. Her mind was filled with emotions but she did enjoy the entire evening.
There was a momentary silence
'aapko kuch aur kehna hai' asked Anandi
'ji ..ji nahi….
I mean ji han..'
'Mujhe thanks kehna tha' said Shiv
'Lekin kiyun? Shukriya tho mujhe kehna chahiye aapka. Aapnay meray liye ithna kiya . aapki vajay sey main apna vachan nibha pa rahi hun aur aapnay ma sey bhi baat kerwayi aaj' said Anandi gratefully
' Main isiliye shukr guzar hunki aapnay aaj agay badnay ka faisla kiya. pichlay kuch dinon sey main samajh saktha hun ki , aap khoyi khoyi si thi.. lekin aaj .. aapki muskurahat ko dekhkar bohot acha laga' said Shiv
Anandi looked at the mirror and calmness spread on her face
She slowly smiled
'aap humesha is tarah muskuratay rahiga. mujhe bohot acha lagtha hai aapki ye muskurahat' Said Shiv softly
Anandi remained silent not knowing how to respond
'Raat bohot ho gayi hai. kal milthay hain' he said
'Good night'
'Good night' replied Anandi
Shiv slowly brought the cell towards his heart and smiled at the mirror looking at this image.
Anandi looked at the cell and then towards the mirror. She slowly smiled …
