But she is talking from a social/cultural perspective of there being a difference between a boy's responsibiliy to his parents and girl's responsibility to her parents.

I have always felt that anandi has a lot of covert hostility towards her parents for her child marriage.

She will never voice it outright ... but it is there ... it was there in her speech when she won the award and she talked of parents who are so thoughtless about their daughters' futures when they get them married at young ages...
So while she sort of gives them the respect that is due to them because they are her parents, internally she does not have those feelings for them... it is not just the child marriage part... but even later on... when she ran away in childhood because of dadisa's atyaachaar on her, then too her mother had dragged her back and brought her back to the haveli without bothering about what problems anandi was facing in her married family... and a few other instances like that...
She probably feels that her parents were just offloading her onto the singh family. Her parents never once entertained any problems she had when she was adjusting to the singhs ... it is anandi's good fortune that sumitra always took her side when dadisa used to tyrannize anandi ...
I dont blame anandi for not calling her parents ... she doesnt have those feelings towards her...
I mean there is a clinical type of recognition that these are her parents ... so because of the person she is, she will give respect to them from that clinical perspective ... but I think emotionally she has been deadened to the prospect of her parents as parents.

Even I felt that was the case. She never thanked her parents in her speech. She knew that she could never turn to them for support.I think she has learnt at a very young age not to expect anything from her parents.
They probably did whatever they did keeping the welfare of their daughter in their mind. They knew that their little girl is sensible and they should have sat down and explained these things to her she would have definitely understood once she knew why they are doing all this.

I think the title sound track of Balika vadhu explains what Anandi feels about her parents.
Does any one know the lines?

It is merely a mistake of CVs', but not Anandi's or Singh's family. Not only Anandi's parents but also Singh's own daughter and son-in-law were not there at award function. Does that mean Singh's family avoided their daughter? And so many characters were not there on the award day (a discussion went on in the forum about those people by that time).

The reason must be that all these actors might have gone to some other shows, so this sudden absence of them from this show. Now that, after Shiv's entry, the story needs Anandi's mother for a short time, they brought her in, that too in a dying condition so that they can end her character in this way. If the story needs Shyam or Suguna at any time, they would suddenly appear in the show telling that they were just back home from a long foreign trip or something like that.

But there should have been at least a telephonic contact between Anandi and her parents like they are doing with Sumithra now.

Don't know why they did not show any interaction between Anandi & her parents after that, where she clears their misgivings & reaches out to them. Maybe cause like u said the CVs want to show this as another fallout of Bal vivah.

I thought they did show a phone call between Anandi and Bhago? Because Anandi was feeling really bad that she'd hurt her mother's feelings, and got ill herself, and I think Sumitra sat with her the whole night changing pattis on her forehead, and eventually made her phone Bhago when she came to? In fact at the time, if I remember right, it was presented as though Sumitra was insufficient, because Anandi kept murmuring Bhago's name and obviously really wanted Bhago's comfort... but since those events I think Sumitra has further taken Bhago's place in Anandi's mind. I guess, as tinoo's said, Anandi has a history of reasons to feel that Bhago has not been there for her when she's needed her. I think the current plotline makes a lot of sense because Bhago now has a final chance to be there for her daughter and "redeem" herself to some degree, and this time she's going to use it... and then die in peace, I guess.

I think we're supposed to assume she kept in touch with them "off-screen". But like tinoo said, it isn't that natural for her to keep in touch with them very often... she feels like they weren't there for her when she needed them most, so... I guess she just doesn't feel the urge. It's sad, but like I said, another ill-effect of bal vivah they are trying to showcase. Anyway, ab hoga telephonic contact... Shiv hai na? Woh is maamle me bhi kuch kardega xD I think he should ditch the IAS stuff and seriously consider a career with Nokia... "Connecting People" 😆 /end PJ
