I watched and re-watched the interaction between Anandi and Shiv, and after catching up on old episodes, I get where the CVs are going with certain qualities of Shiv.
A few times Shiv has insisted to Anandi that he has his own opinion, and does not form an opinion based on heresy. Jagya, however, has always been influenced by what other say. As a kid, he got in with some guy (forget his name) with whom he used to bunk school. I think the CVs want to show how Shiv is totally opposite in this matter from Jagya. This is Jagya's worst trait because he has made very big mistakes (asking for property) under the influence of others. This is Shiv's best trait, he is not swayed by gossip and sees Anandi for who she really is.
Jagya wants a modern wife - she should be educated, speak English, dress in a modern way - but also be traditional - take care of Jagya's needs by cooking, etc., be less successful than him, respect his family no matter what. Shiv is not focused on modern vs. traditional as much, in the sense that he wants a traditional enough girl who will get along with his family, but he focuses more on qualities rather than modern vs. traditional.
Jagya is a spoiled brat, he wants everything on a platter. As a kid, Anandi did his homework for him. He wants everything easily and doesn't want to work for it. Shiv works hard, he got to where he is with hard work and dedication, he is very dedicated to his work. Jagya also blames everyone around him.
Jagya's turning out like this is partly Dadisa's fault. Dadisa spoiled him rotten, she taught him to not let Anandi be more successful than him, she troubled the beendinis a lot to keep them under control. For her, her sons mattered the most. She kept blaming Anandi for all of Jagya's faults, today he blames her for snatching his family. Over time Dadisa has changed, but the damage to Jagya has been done. He also grew up in a small village where everyone knew Dadisa, so he could get away with a lot, villagers also respected him on account of Dadisa alone.
In addition, Dadisa always curbed Anandi. She punished Anandi and insulted her brutally. Only now is Anandi's true self coming out, this is who Anandi really is and was meant to be. A confident girl, not scared of fighting for the right thing, knowing everything about her town and working for her town's progress. This is the real true Anandi.
The combination of Jagya and Dadisa were a huge setback for Anandi, I do hope she is able to open up completely with Shiv.
I love how Shiv is so different from Jagya, this gives Anandi an opportunity to fall in love and find the life partner she truly wants and deserves, I really hope she sees that.
