Thanks for speaking for EVERY young and teen audience in the country. Now that you have vouched for ALL teen and young audiences in EVERY corner of the country and abroad, there is really nothing to worry about anymore.😛 Indian TV should now glorify more spicy story lines like the adventures of the rapist or a reality show on the best domestic violence since the youth is immune to TV anyway.

Interestingly, many renowned researchers have concluded that TV has a profound effect in shaping identity and subjectivity, especially among the Indian youth. Robert Jensen of UCLA has a famous article on the
Power or TV and its effects on women in India. Then there is Arvind Rajagopal of NYU with his famous book Politics after Television . Renowned social scientists like Leela Fernandes, Mellissa Butcher, S Ramesh Kumar, Ashis Nandy have researched and concluded that TV in India is a very powerful social medium and has the power to change and reshape society.

What amazes me is that these are well known international researchers in the most prestigious universities of the world who have toiled in the field for years together and reached the conclusion. Maybe they are stupid and making false claims in the vacuum since apparently EVERY teen and young audience has a different set of values for forum discussions and a different set of values for their personal life.
Poor things wasted their whole lives in such useless research, getting alarmed over silly things😛

Antara🤗

Hai hai intna statistics de dhi...chalo all the researchers wasted their time...TV does not have ill effect on teens or elder people...People watch it and do exactly opposite things...They follow their heart and brain.

true vasu. Bechare researchers and stupid us too. We were foolishly discussing the teen audience in general. But since one member has spoken for ALL teen and young audience and has assured that NO young audience is impressionable by TV, the discussion was pointless.

Maybe next time when we discuss any group in general
----society, urban supporters, college students, teen lovers---we should first ask a specific member of that group. Whatever that one member will say will vouch for the entire group. Social science research will be so much easier. 😛

By the way, I really want to see Indian TV going more adventurous now.😉. Rapes, crimes, violence, abuse all should pour in. How does it matter? The teens will still be sanskari and morally grounded no matter what they see on TV 😛 Indian TV is too tame yaar thinking of the family audience. 😉

I am sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings. Few years ago I used to watch a show "Mitwa something". My MIL was here at that time. One day my daughter told her dad 'Thank God I am born in US, if I were in India I would be killed and I wouldn't be alive today'. My husband was taken aback. She was little girl then and the story of that stupid show had affected her and she thought all girl babies are killed in India. That is why I am more worried for kids who are preteens. I am not shub chintak of adults.
I am not making fun of anyone's age or I want to judge anyone here. I only posted in this thread when Annika got warning for writing the truth. All are free to express their thoughts. But reporting to moderator for someone's POV is what I object.

Good you apologised redapple! It's better to be on the safe side and apologise in advance, rather than irking people, driving them nuts to report your posts and get rebuked my mods for hurting sentiments of fans!

I hope touchy and sensitive fans are okay now and don't hit the report button.

I can only say, redapple, Antara, Suchi, Vasu why don't you guys ignore others?

I also ask those who report posts - why don't you ignore? Apne kaam se kaam rakho. Kisi ke kuch keh dene se inn kalpanik kirdaaron ka kuch ukhad nahin jayega!!

Read what you want to read, believe what you want to believe. No need to argue with others and give undue importance and attention to those who are never going to listen and always going to laugh no matter what.

Yeah ageism was not right. People of any age can be intelligent or foolish. Being younger doesn't mean you're foolish and being older doesn't mean you're all wise. Foolishness and naivete have no specific age limits!

annika: I don't think anyone attacked specific members in the discussion. We were discussing about the bad effects BV might have on young and teen audience. That's a general topic of discussion on the influence of social media on youth. Now if suddenly somebody jumps in and says you are talking about us or giving gyan to us specifically what can you say?😆. We discuss the serial with reference to many social groups---------rural viewers, college students, urban viewers, older viewers, housewives, working women viewers etc etc. Now each one of us belong to some group or the other. Does that mean that every time there is a discussion about my group, it's meant as a personal attack to me and I have to fight ?? That's the weirdest logic you can hear. I also believe in ignoring certain posts because it's useless to debate. But if everything is interpreted as personal attack then it's impossible to discuss anything in this forum. Who knows each time we curse Jagya, there might be a doctor in the forum who thinks this is a personal attack on him. Or every time we criticize Gauri there might be a college girl who thinks it is a personal attack on her.

Things are taken very personally in this forum. Once I made a statement that many people blame rape victims and some members thought I was implicating them----as if I am supposed to know their hidden thoughts about rape.😆 Another time there was a poll on Munni Gausa (You must be familiar with her from JT) and the poll was reported and closed down because people thought Munni Gausa was a derogatory name for Gauri🤣 Now what can you do about that??

Annika ...i generally try to ignore many posts and awesome logics..but can't help myself...I know very well that no one is gonna change their POV...but I just love irking people to discuss and tell their POVs...few months before the forum was much worser and we have seenworst bashing of the character Anandi and all the characters supporting her...Many have joined hands and done the bashing with passion...I am happy the forum is much better now...All the members discuss decently and try to pull each other's leg directly or indirectly...I am still amazed that your post was reported...

Its too hard to resist the kick I get arguing and though I don't believe even for a moment that the opposite party will agree with me...i just keep longing to get even one very logical explaination that could ring a bell...

I agree with you its not good to get into trouble, but it is fun to just go very near getting into trouble and pulling back...Will try to resist though

The discussion was about ageism and romance...and as I told earlier the idea of romance changes from the age of 10 to 60...It is a fact..So the discussion was going on like that...but some people felt offended...what can we do...at this rate we have to make threads saying faint hearts not allowed

ok Annika will try my level best to avoid...bery bery tough but will try... but if someone posts extremely funny logic then god help me

@Tanvi i agree if your inner roots are strong u wont be lured by the evils of society, but here is the example of Gauri , a highly educated girl who has seen the evils of child marriage , yet she fell for Jagat's lie. It can be luv but yet it has put her and her family under the shadow of social stigma.

Simillarly, there r many girls who become easy prey, glad to know you dont take this stuff too seriously but just wish every girl could think the same.
