I think being a powerful community leader/social worker would've been better.
Even Mahatma Gandhi was not a politician. He was a leader of the masses, but he exerted tremendous influence over both masses and politicians. In present times, people like Anna Hazare are in a similar mould.
IAS are great, but they tend to be puppets in hands of politicians. Honest ones are just transferred or removed from job on some pretext or the other. Their power to make a difference is limited by corrupt politicians.
Politicians exert power, but I think it's all dirty. Plus, no one lets an honest politician survive! Pardon me, but I feel Anandi is too innocent and lacks the diplomatic nature and diligence required to be a politician! I think even if she enters politics, she could at best only reach the level of being Sarpanch of Jetsar. I simply don't see a girl like her, rise to upper echelons of power.
In our country, politicians are either from family of politicians or they are damn corrupt like Mayawati. Anandi - who is neither highly educated, nor from family of politicians and doesn't know how to ''play games'' to win any battle - can't do much as a politician.
Teacher is a big no-no. A teacher can't make much difference, especially if it's about society! Just as 18 years ago, the Singh family made her teacher shut up, similarly people will make her shut up too! A teacher can only educate and hope that her education has been able to have a positive impact on her students' minds. She/he can't do much to make a REAL impact.
Even a lawyer could have been a better option, considering how exceedingly the judiciary is having great impact on people and government.
