We always place our mothers on a pedestal and treat her as the soul of our family. But the father is someone who is ignored more often than not. The mother being a replacement of God is an oft repeated phrase. But there are no such eulogies sung for our fathers. It may be because fathers are not overtly demonstrative with their affections; the mother is the one who generally is. However, that certainly does not mean that a father loves his children any less.
TellyCafe brings you the opinions of actors who know that Papa cares!
Ankita Lokhande
I had always wanted to be an actor since I was a kid. My father wasn't really convinced as he used to say that the acting profession wasn't really suitable for us. However, I used to imitate the actors shown in various ads particularly that of Pepsi, where Rani Mukherjee, Kajol and Shahrukh were endorsing the brand and Shahid was a junior actor. I had written about my dreams of being an actor in a blue corded diary and addressed it to my Papa. I pleaded with him to convey my message to Grandpa who was not in favor of acting. However, I kept it hidden and did not reveal it to my father. My papa, somehow, managed to go through the contents, after which he never stopped me from chasing my dreams. Al though he has not admitted that he has seen my diary, I know it is so, as I know my papa well!
Neil Bhatt
We had an open gallery at our place which did not have sliding windows. I was interested in the events taking place below on the ground and tried to have a look. I had been on the verge of falling down, when my father came up quietly and distracted me by neatly changing the subject. He then took me away and I followed him without a single murmur of protest. That was clever of him indeed! I appreciate it till date.
Vibha Anand
I simply love to shop and used to conjure up heavy bills whenever I accompanied my father on a shopping spree. My father stood by as a silent supporter while I shopped to my heart's content. Despite getting red in the face at the sight of the bills, he chose to keep quiet. Later on, I tried to make amends by talking sweetly to him. My papa's quite smart and understood the reason for my sweetness well enough; however, he chose to remain silent.
Karan Wahi
I share great vibes with my father. Al though we argue and quarrel over the smallest things like watching different TV channels. This, in spite of the fact, that we do have three different TVs in three different rooms. Ultimately the fight ends with both of us watching the same channel separately, in different rooms. I do understand that my father loves me. This may be his way of wanting to spend some time with me.
Ragini Khanna
I had trained in singing for almost 15 years and it was my father's dream to see me as a successful singer. However, I was more inclined towards acting and chose not to inform him while I was busy doing small skits and ads. I hid the truth specifically to avoid being scolded. I informed him when I was about to sign 'Radha Ki Betiyaan', as it was going to be on national television. I was scared of his comments but all I got was an 'OK'. And it carried the message loud and clear. I was really touched by his gesture.
Romit Raj
I used to be real bad in Hindi which was reflected in the marks I got. My father chided me every time and told me that my neglecting the language would cost me dearly as I may have to make use of Hindi, later in life. Now, after joining the industry, I regret not paying attention to his words and have to study Hindi all over again. I wish I had listened to him then. I know now, that he cared for my well being. Love you papa.
Kritika Kamra
My father is terribly caring and knows what I love. Every time, I go home, I find my room ready and arrangements made so that I can just relax and enjoy my favorite things . I simply love eating, 'chaat' which gets prepared as well. However, he denies having organized anything especially for me. But I know papa, mom is very diet conscious and will not allow me to have junk food. I know it's you.
Karan Kundra
My father asks me about my career and my future prospects every time I meet him. I used to work with him previously but had joined the industry with 'Kitni Mohabbat Hai'. He never forgets to ask me whether I am happy and satisfied with my career progression. He still worries about me. But he is very proud of me too. All the scolding that I receive is because he cares.
Well said guys, a father is really the one who remains out of sight and doesn't want to take any credit for his thoughtful gestures!
