15 August 2009: People, take some time out to pay homage to all those who laid down their lives for the peaceful life we are leading today. Most we can do is to remember them on few of the occasions and acknowledge their great doings. We all have had the heart-wrenching experience of learning about their struggle of pre-independence period; let's hear it from our youthful tele-India what they think of the changing face of India, today.

We can live peacefully today only because of the heroes in the past who had sacrificed their lives. I genuinely salute all of them on any day. This year due to Swine Flu my school is closed, but I will go for flag hoisting ceremony in my colony. As part of this country that is freed on the cost of the lives of many brave leaders I make sure I don't dirty it by littering here and there. I have actively participated in the program 'each one plant one' ran by my school, where we had gone from door-to-door to make people aware of the importance of planting trees.

For me freedom is to live life without any restrictions, but it does not mean waywardly. I salute and thank all the heroes of the past for sacrificing their lives to give us this wonderful free country. I am proud of my country for various reasons, one of them being the warmth about which a foreigner once told me. If I could do anything for my country, I would like to work towards its bright future that is to educate underprivileged children. My favorite patriotic song is Aye mere watan ke logon as it's a tribute to all the freedom fighters.

Balika Vadhu: Anandi's father Kajan Singh will go to Mahavir Singh to buy his mortgaged land back, but Mahavir Singh will snub him. Kajan will then go to Kalyani for help, but she refuses to recognise him. Anandi will listen to the conversation between them and go to Jagya for help. They go to Mahavir Singh and tell them that they are Kalyani's grandsons and request him to return the papers. Kalyani comes to know of this and scolds Anandi for insisting that Jagya convince Mahavir. Balika Vadhu airs at 8.30pm on Colors.

What is cooking between Sugna-Shyam? The on-screen Jodi of Balika Vadhu Sugna-Shyam is appreciated by audiences. On Facebook Vibha Anand put up some cool pics of her and in reply to that one of her close friend, wrote that Shyam will be fulltoo fida on her. Vibha has so far not commented, and her silence is suspect. We are following!

We are talking about Ulka and Gagan Gupta. Ulka will be seen as Jhansi Ki Rani in Zee; while her father Gagan Gupta is doing Balika Vadhu. Is it like a competition between the father and daughter in the race for the TRP's?

"Not at all, as I know Balika Vadhu has its own sets of viewers while Jhansi Ki Rani will have its own. I am proud of my daughter that she is essaying such a great role on TV," states Gagan Gupta.

When we asked Ulka about the competition she utters, "I don't know anything about this. I just know that my show will do well. Though Balika Vadhu is also good, I use to watch that too."

Balika Vadhu has been the number one show, where as Jhansi Ki Rani is just about to start after many problems. The storyline of the two shows are totally different; expect the timings, which is 8:00 pm on Colors and Zee respectively. Will the viewers shift their loyalty? It is something to be watched.

Though there seems to be no competition for the two (Ulka and Ganag) but the fight to win the TRP's will always be there between the producers and the channels. Let's see who wins the race this time…

Avika Gor (Anandi of Balika Vadhu): The 12-year-old is married in this show that highlights the issue of child marriage. Avika is always seen in heavily adorned ghagra-cholis and a lot of jewellery in the show. At public events too, she is usually dressed in traditional outfits. It would be great to see her dress her age.



Avinash Mujherjee (Jagdish of Balika Vadhu): Though he usually wears a school uniform or traditional clothes in the show, he occasionally wear casual t-shirts and denims too. Off-screen, you can see Avinash sporting trendy denims with t-shirts and jackets.

"I used to like Pallavi Joshi and Sachin as child actors. In the current lot, my favourite is Jagya (Avinash Mukherjee) from Balika Vadhu. I have watched a few episodes of the serial and he looks great on-screen."

"I have two favourites – one is Anurag, who plays my onscreen nephew in Basera, and the other is Anandi from Balika Vadhu. It's great fun with Anurag, we play carom or hide & seek on the sets. I hope he impresses audiences. I also like Avika Gor, who plays Anandi; my whole family watches Balika Vadhu.

Anandi thrown out of her sasuraal

There's more excitement in store on the hit show, Balika Vadhu. Mahavir Singh, a new entrant in the show, will create havoc in Kalyani's family and in Anandi's life.
Once again, we will watch little Anandi shed tears, and her usual conflict with Maasa will get her into big trouble. Maasa will not spare her bahu this time, and throw her out of their house.

Anandi, who tried helping her parents get back their land from Mahavir Singh along with Jagya, will be exposed to Maasa by Mahavir Singh. Mahavir will visit their place to inform Maasa that her grand daughter-in-law and her grandson had visited him with the request. This doesn't go down well with Maasa, as she had warned everyone against visiting him. Anandi's disobedience and Mahavir Singh's taunts make her take the harsh decision to throw Anandi out of the house.

How Anandi copes up with the punishment remains to be seen, but with Mahavir Singh back in Maasa's life, there are more shocks in store.
