Life starts after midnight for Neha Marda

Neha Marda is one of the busiest actresses with two dailies Balika Vadhu and Kissmat Connection in her kitty. The poor actress has no time for herself and thus it's only after midnight she tries to catch up with her life. She is managing all this without any complaints. "That's the time for me to be with my friends. Mostly if I finish my shoot before midnight, I meet them and we go for a dinner at any restaurants which are open 24X8 like Marriot or Sun and Sand," says Neha. When asked how she manages, the actress replies, "I don't like to creep that doing two dailies I don't get time for my self. This is the choice that I have made and am happy about it."

"In the night I also catch up with movies with my friends and then have a good dinner. Again in the morning I am back for my shoots. Sometimes if I get a break for more than an hour, I call my friends and we go out for a coffee," she adds. When do you sleep then? "I sleep in my travelling time, while shifting from one set to another. For Balika I am shooting at Vasai and for Kismat Connection I either shoot at Andheri or Bhandup. So I get time of 1 or 2 hours where I get my sleep. I think this is more than enough," she briefs. She surely knows how to balance her personal as well as professional life.

Gehna aka Neha Marda Loves To Wear Baby Pink In Summer

I eat a lot of fruits like watermelon and drink jugs of coconut water and orange juice. I feel the internal heat causes more trouble than the hot weather and this results in pimples and an upset stomach.

I completely change my wardrobe in summer. I have replaced my old clothes with cotton fabrics. I recently bought cotton kurtis. I particularly bought light colours like baby pink and white. When I am not shooting I prefer to wear hot pants with spaghati tops.

Neha Marda not friendly on Balika Vadhu sets
Originally posted by sreejeeta
Neha Marda who is playing the role of Gehna in the popular serial Balika Vadhu is quite excited at the fan following that she has been receiving for her performance in the serial. The sprightly lass has signed on the new show Jo Ishq Ki Marzi Woh Rab Ki Marzi slated to go on air on Sahara One and is enjoying this phase of her career now.

Not many are aware of the fact that Neha had actually started faced the camera for the first time as a little kid with her stint as a participant in the popular dance show Boogie Woogie. Then followed yet another dance show called Kaboom.

Besides the dance shows Boogie Woogie and Kaboom, Neha has also acted in quite a few serials till date including Ek Thi Rajkumari which as on the now defunct channel Zee Next. "Though it was Ek Thi Rajkumari which had me playing the title role for the first time, I also enjoyed working in the serials like Saath Rahega Always and Ghar Ek Sapna too."
Neha is playing a very challenging character in the new show Jo Ishq Ki Marzi Woh Rab Ki Marzi too. "I play Sunaina, who is only 19. She is a live wire, full of energy, outspoken, witty and highly adventurous. Music and dance runs in her blood and she is very passionate about it. Life however takes a sudden twist and the two love birds are separated for ten years. The show is all about how Sunaina, with her faith in Sumer's love and their relationship since their birth is ready to face all adversities, in their only desire, to be one forever".

Though she has acted in a few serials earlier and is not a new comer, people presume that she has actually made her debut as an actress with the serial Balika Vadhu, because it has become quite popular. Neha confesses that though acting in Jo Ishq Ki Marzi Woh Rab Ki Marzi was like a picnic, it is quite tough getting into the skin of her character in Balika Vadhu as the innocent young girl Gehna who is married off to an elderly widower.

Neha confesses that it is not a cake walk as far as preparing for the character of Gehna is. "The first brief that I was given was that I had to watch the CDs of Shekhar Kapoor's controversial film Bandit Queen , because the film also deals with the issue of sexual harassment in an adult manner. "

It is interesting to note that Neha, as a part and parcel of her preparation for the character was also asked by the director to maintain a safe distance and not to become very friendly on the sets with the actor who is playing the elder brother Vasant who forcibly gets Gehna as his second wife. "Since I had to get into the mood of the character, I prefer to even keep a distance from Surekha Sikriji who is playing my mother in law in the serial. I just make it a point to walk up to her when the shoot starts and just say a Hi Ma'm."

Neha admits that it was after her episodes in Boogie Woogie were telecast that Sahara One offered her the role in Saath Rahega Always. Besides Saath Rahega Always, Ghar Ek Sapna and Ek Thi Rajkumari, Neha has also acted in a documentary directed by Harsh Chhaya. "I played an 18 year old drug addict girl who gets molested mentally. It was after Rajesh Chaddha of BAG Films saw the documentary and asked me to do an audition, that I was selected for Ek Thi Rajkumari."

Neha says that, as an actress, she yearns to bag a role which will allow her to display her prowess in dancing, since she is proficient in dancing . "I feel that dancing is actually related to acting in many ways. I have learnt Bharat Natyam for nine years, Kathak for seven years, jazz in four years and Salsa in three years. For three consecutive years, when I was 17, 18 and 19, I was lucky enough to win the hat trick in the Boogie Woogie dancing competition on Sony."

Though as of now, Neha is quite busy round the clock working in two daily serials at the same time, she asserts that she is keen on acting in films too. In face, recently though she had bagged a very plum role in a South Indian film, she had no alternative but to forego the role because she could not get off from shooting for both her serials

Neha Marda
TV Actress

neha_m > Hi Guys sorry I am late...this is Neha Marda .. I would love to spread the message of love to all... Do good to the world...

BHARATH > Hi Neha what do u dislike about Balika Vadhu and one thing that made u act in the serial?
neha_m > Dear Bharath, Balika Vadhu is not one subject only . We talk about how girl at a young age faces issues like harassments be it physical or mental tortures... Ballika is a complete issue oriented serial... I think the world is at a point where we have to show the wrong to portray the right message...So that the whole idea of the serial to raise awareness for Girl Child rights...

anki > Hii mam m Ankit, a great fan of yours... At what age did u started your career???I really love your appearance in Jo ishq ki marzi....... And from where r u basically?
neha_m > Dear Ankit.....I started my career 3 years back with Sahara one in a serial called Sath Rahega always ... I played the lead girl ...I am basically from Rajasthan but I was born and brought up in Kolkatta...

pallavi > Hi Neha do u personally support child marriage???
neha_m > Hi Pallavi ... the whole idea of child marriage ...according to me Child Marriage is not wrong but we have to re-modify it to make it a perfect marriage as when grown up we are sensitive enough and mature to manipulate things so often we think that things are not working properly as things are different .when we think we are not able to adapt in the new situations... Child marriage has an upper hand as the time spend is more and from the basic age... In initial ages we have more patience to get our self mould or to mould other the way we want and vice versa...There goes a lot of things with child marriage a girl should be allowed to study ...she should be the girl at the house not the bahu ... On the other hand Husband and wife becomes companion they are like best of friends ....

madhur > Hi Neha how is your chemistry with Dadi of Balika Vadhu ??
neha_m > Hi Madhur... I never thought of being part of the show. I was a watcher of the show when it started, I had a different image of her ... I thought her to be cruel, khadoos ... strict etc she for me was totally negative but it is tough to act with her... As I still have fear of her though she is very sweet and humble but still I fail to talk to her more then Morning M'am ! How are you ... I am fine... she is one person I can't dare to go and talk to ... She is the sweetest person on the sets always jovial...she plays cricket on sets ... but I am scared to talk to her ... ?

preeti > Hi Neha you are very good in Ballika Vadhu ...What all preps did u do for the role of Gehna ?
Neha_m > Hi Preeti... the character Gehna doesn't resembles with me at all ... But it came right in front of me... it took me a lot of hard work as it was totally not me ... to play this I went through loads of things I saw Bandit Queen 15- 17 times ... I was not allowed to play with the kids of sets ... I was not allowed to smile also :(... Day I am not shooting I was made to wear the clothes from the show in my house also... they wanted me to just forget laughing ... I was not given my phone for days they wanted me to go thru depression .. I was made depressed... but whatever I did has paid a lot...

taan > Hi Neha. What were your experiences during Ballika Vadhu
neha_m > Hi My experience was a big opportunity to learn acting ... I learned to how to face camera ... how to deliver my lines.... How to get used to set people... how to get used make up all day long, costumes ... it was a big start to my career ... Ballika is amazing... the first impression is not the last impression the way I had thought of Surekha ji is totally different .. The Aura she has is so positive... on screen she is negative but she is an amazing person... Smita is very lovely to work with ... we do all stupid all fun things on the sets... Avika is a superstar ... Smriti Irani in the making... ? ... I have learned many things right from kid to the most senior actors... Even my onscreen husband is so good to work with ...they all have been so nice and supportive... I will be keep learning...

shazaleen > Do you wish to join Bollywood?
neha_m > Hi Dear my life is very much unplanned ... I am basically in Dance... learned Kathak, Bharatnatyam etc... I never thought of joining acting but I am loving it... so I think better not to plan ... coz un planning makes my life so successful more than planning can do...

Neha > Hi Neha, I just wanted to Congratulate you on your wonderful performance in Ballika Vadhu. Are you similar to your character in reality?
neha_m > I think if someone else has done that role Gehna would have been portrayed in a different manner... I am a very fun loving person but after doing Gehna I have realized that there was some of Gehna in me... I guess Gehna character karne ke baad Neha Gehna ke taraha bann gaye hai... :)

Neha > Hi Neha, what is your experience working in Ballika Vadu? How do you think the serial is different and creates an impact? What is it's USP according to you?
neha_m > Hi Dear... USP of the show we are not dealing with one issue but we are showing what issues women faces at various stages of live. Firstly an 8 yr girl getting in to a thing called marriage at an age where she hardly knows what marriage is!!! ... 2nd Gehna a girl married to a man who is elder than her father, 3rd is a girl who was married at a younger age who does not know what her life going to be... USP is dealing issues at through remote areas...people relate to it ...

neha_m > Biggest USP of the show is Surekha Sikri ji ... she is a rock star :)

findnsecure > Would you have liked to play the character of Anandi or you are happy with this character?
neha_m > Hi Dear I am super happy with my character ... Anandi is so popular I was going to one site I saw myself at number one ( Gehna 's character ) I was so happy... She is one goodie girl who will always do right in her right...I am super happy ... She is a very normal girl ... I don't want to be anyone else...

riya > Do u think depicting girls as the weaker sex in serials is right??
neha_m > Dear Riya .. I guess you have not yet got the main idea of the show...Woman is the most powerful in our serial that is Surekha sikri ji... Maa sa ...Gehna is the one in the show that have own identity.... we exactly show what we are... WE are not showing women as weaker.... Maa saa is the most superior... I guess hero of the show is surekha ji

anamika > Hi Neha ... thanks for chatting with us... tell us about your role in Jo ishq ki marzi ....??
neha_m > Jo Ishq is completely a love story where I am playing a Sunaina who is a girl exactly like Neha Marda... she laughs, bubbly she is a livewire... she does mistakes and confesses toooo :)... she is very egoistic... nobody can make her a fool ... she thinks that she rules the world... she is a nice humble girl who falls in love with Sumer ....they are best friends they get apart and meet in Gurukul after 10 yrs... It is a total Love Story.

amaresh > What are your hobby
neha_m > Dear My hobbies are Dancing I have done 9 yrs of Bharat Natyam , 7 yrs of kathak , 4 yrs in Jazz and 3 yrs in Salsa .. I was a winner in Boogie woogie thrice... I won all India dance com in Bharat natyam ... Dance is in my blood... I have learnt classical singing... I love talking a lot...

rahul > Which is your favorite color?
neha_m > Hi Rahul ... .Pink, purple....lemon & Green

kreek > What is you new serial all about?
neha_m > Jo ishq is my upcoming show.....

love > So what are your expectations from life?
neha_m > Dear Love . Basically to be myself ...according to me I am good to myself... I love myself I don't want to get into what people are used to here in the industry ... I am okay with the world to think differently about me... I don't want to be a superb person I want to keep my parents happy....don't want to hurt in life...a guy that loves me a lot ?

Define fashion?
I feel that you look best when you wear something that suits you. Fashion should be individualistic. I believe in setting trends for my own self. I do not follow the trend of others.

Who chooses your clothes?
I choose my clothes and I do not like any one else intervening with my choice of clothes. Sometimes, I take help from my designer friend Poonam. But the choice is always mine. I love to shop alone. Shopping is always a solo activity rather than a group activity.

Do you like to accessorise yourself?
I do not like to accessorise myself. I started acting in serials at a very young age because of which I have been wearing too many accessories since a young age. Every show that I have taken up requires me to be loaded with accessories be it Baalika Wadhu, Jo Ishq Di Marzi… or Ek Thi Rajkumari. So in my real life, I prefer to keep away from accessories. I just like wearing good clothes along with a nice watch, attractive pair of shoes and a good hair style. My hair has to be done properly. I wash and blow dry my hair everyday.

Is there any particular brand that you prefer for clothes?
United Colors Of Benetton, Adidas and Nike. My sense of style is sporty and casual.

What is your favourite destination for shopping?
I generally shop from shopping malls. I have never been out of India but I have heard that Dubai is very good for shopping. So I would love to shop there. I have heard that you get to explore a lot with clothes, bags and shoes out there.

Which are the clothes that make you feel comfortable?
Denim and a sports t-shirt. I also feel comfortable in short skirts. A kurti with a patiala salwar is the most comfortable thing to wear. You will always find me dressed in them when I am at home.

Who is your favourite designer?
Well, I think it is Manish Malhotra. I love his clothes but I have never bought anything from him as his clothes are too expensive and I never had any occasion to buy such an expensive outfit. For Indian clothes, I opt for Ritu Kumar.

A must have in your purse?
Perfume, deodorant, kohl pencil, hair brush and wet wipes.

What are the make-up products that you prefer?
MAC and Krylon because they don't harm your skin in any way and settle well on your skin. In fact I saw an improvement in my skin after using MAC make-up.

A fashion tip.
Work on your body so that you are able to wear stylish clothes and experiment with clothes. If your body is in shape you get the confidence to carry anything and everything.

A make- up tip.
Use a good quality cleanser. Removing make-up properly is very essential. Splash warm water on your face after cleaning up all the make-up and apply milk cream. Pumpkin juice works best for the skin, so drink pumpkin juice every morning on an empty stomach.

I WANT IMRAN KHAN AS MY PARTNER
Neha Marda's petite looks and quiet demeanour can be deceptive. She might be hitting the airwaves and grabbing eyeballs as a docile prime time

For someone who started her television trek after a win in Boogie Woogie to playing the role of a sad, young wife in Balika Vadhu and the sheltered young girl in Sahara One's Jo Ishq Ki Marzi Woh Rab Ki Marzi, she's come a long way.

Playing Gehna in Balika Vadhu wasn't tough, she says. "The first brief that I was given was to watch Shekhar Kapoor's Bandit Queen, because the film also deals with the issue of sexual harassment. I was asked by the director not to become very friendly on the sets with the actor who is playing my husband. As I had to get into the mood of the character, I have to keep a distance from Surekha Sikri who is playing my mother-in- law!" Neha's also worked in a docu-drama directed by Harsh Chhaya where she played an 18-year-old drug addict who gets molested mentally.

As an actress she yearns to do a role which will allow her to display her dancing prowess. "Dancing is actually related to acting in many ways. I have learnt various dance forms like bharatnatyam, kathak, jazz and salsa." Neha attributes her success to her "supportive parents." Staying alone in Mumbai has its perks, but she also misses the joys of being home. "I miss my friends, the mouth-watering streetfood."

Neha might be single but knows what a perfect date could be like. "I'd like to have candlelit dinner (Thai or Italian cuisine) on a deserted island," she grins. And who'd be the partner? "Imran Khan, of course." Neha has no concrete plans for the future either: "I believe that things go really well if unplanned."

Neha Marda gets nervous on Boogie Woogie

Neha Marda (Gehna of Balika Vadhu on Colors) was invited as a special guest on the show Boogie Woogie, in an episode featuring all its former winners. Neha has won the title thrice so far and her experience shooting for the special episode proved very nostalgic, and overwhelming, for the actress.

NEHA says, "I'll be seen performing at the start of the show's grand finale. In the episode, all the champions of the show will compete against each other."

The actress was initially asked to be a judge but she felt that she was not worthy of the position. She says, "I was told by the Boogie Woogie team that I deserved to be on the show. In fact, they also asked me to judge but it would be impossible for me to sit with the judges who selected me thrice as a winner."

So instead, Neha performed on the song Sajna Hai Mujhe Sajna Ke Liye. "I had only half an hour to rehearse and I did it in my vanity van! Still, it was fun being back on the show," she adds.

Neha has won the Boogie Woogie title thrice: when she was 11, 15 and 17-years-old.
Yet, she still had the jitters when she went onstage again. She adds, "I have done many stage shows and performed at awards functions too. So the stage has never been daunting for me. But when I got on to the Boogie Woogie stage, all the memories came rushing back! I remembered how I would wait for Javed's questions and how I would get scared before every elimination. Memories from all three times on the show were all jumbled in my head."

The actress, who is trained in bharatnatayam, kathak, jazz and salsa, refused to take any payment for her appearance on the show. Even so, she didn't leave empty handed. She says, "When they called me, I was so excited at the chance to perform after such a long time that I was jumping everywhere. They asked me for a quotation but I would have been ashamed to take money from them. I flatly told them that I did not want anything. Even so, they gifted me a gold and diamond necklace. I took it as their blessing."

Asked whether she would ever consider being on a dance reality show, Neha says, "I don't know what the criteria behind dance reality shows are but I would love to be on one."

Boogie Woogie, judged by Ravi Behl, Naved Jaffrey and Javed Jaffrey, airs every Friday and Saturday at 8pm on Sony.

Neil and Neha's Kismat Connection

Postby prachi on Sat Jun 13, 2009 9:02 am

Sahara One's and Sagar Arts, show Jo Ishq Ki Merzi Woh Rab Ki Marzi is all set to relaunch with a new title and story line. The star cast will be the same but in new avatar for Kismat Connection. Neha Marda talks to us about her new avatar in the show. "I am donning a modern look and is bit nervous. I have been wearing lenga all these while on screen and suddenly will wear one piece dress giving a modern look is something I never thought of."

Buzz up!"I even asked my designer that will I be able to carry my self well in the show. Though off screen I do wear such kind of dresses but not on screen," she adds further. When asked of why the title and the story track of the show were changes, the actress explains, "I think Jo Ishq did not go well with the urban audience. That love story was if 1890 era and the TRP's were also dipping. Thus we were given a notice of a week and things changed." Talking about the storyline she reveals that, "Again it's going to be love story between me and Neil but narrated in different manner. I just hope people like this show," she concludes

A source from the production House reveals that, "Beside Neil- Neha there are two more actors who will be seen in the show. The first episode starts with Neha and her fiance and Neil with his Partner . Ankiet and Prenal are the new faces but there were seen in Jo Ishq… The story revolve around the reincarnation of the leads" Let's see if the change in title and storyline grabs the eye balls?
