SECOND CHAPTER
TWENTY MINUTES EARLIER
Priya walked to washroom still looking around for him. The air was thick with his usual scent as she walked past the table he was sitting at. The cafe was dimly lit specially in its corridors to create a warm and serene ambience. Suddenly she felt a tug on her wrist, next thing she was being pulled into an unknown direction. The clicking sound behind her alerted her more. She turned around only to be lifted up in his strong arms and crushed into his tight embrace. She instinctively wrapped her arms around his shoulders, he pulled her back just enough to take her lips into his. His kiss was hot, hungry and demanding. As he hungrily trailed his lips from her lips to her cheek, tasting her jawline and then her neck and cleavage, he couldn't help scraping her tender skin with his teeth causing her to lose the little sanity that she held onto till now. She was melting and sinking into his touch seduced by the taste of him and how so expertly he commanded her with his touch. Her one hand sank into his thick silky hair while the other moved to his shoulder, pressing his lips more onto her skin as she arched back. She felt both powerful and shy. She had been thinking of nothing else but being possessed by him...taken wildly, roughly, and desperately. He was still so focused in refamiliarizing to her body, inhaling the scent of her skin,his large hands moved roaming on her curves memorizing every inch. She reached for his shirt desperate to feel him and ripped at the front. A few buttons flew, enough for her to feel the sheen on his body that spoke of his hunger and desire for her. He lifted her more to get better access, there was no modesty, no shyness but heat and desire, natural and earthy.
As they struggled to satisfy their primal needs,he suddenly paused then hesitated to continue, his touch had lost its desperation and warmth. As if she had been doused with icy cold water, she struggled to open her eyes to find him staring at her. He put her down on the floor and cupped her face " How could you do that to me Priyaa?" his voice was now laced with pain " Why did you leave without giving me a chance?" How did you expect me to move on when you have been my entire life for the past eleven months"..." let me tell you that If that's what you think our relationship is all about and if you couldn't see past that then I DON'T WANT TO CONTINUE THIS RELATIONSHIP EITHER!"
Why were these same words sounding harsher coming from his mouth? HER OWN WORDS WERE HAUNTING HER NOW!
FOUR MONTHS EARLIER
She had just sat down to have her dinner after a long day when her phone rang.
KAPOOR MANSION
There was an eerie feel to an otherwise lively KM this evening. Priya was rushed to a room with many machines hissing and beeping. Everyone was gathered around the bed talking in whispered tone. She stood rooted in her spot to see her beloved Dadi laying there looking so pale and fragile struggling to take the next breath. Dadi slowly raised her hand and signaled her to come close to her. Tears were now pouring relentlessly to see the woman she had come to love so dearly. " puttar ro na maine zindagi ko jee Bharke jeeya hai aur dekh aaj bhi sab kaam Kaaj chodhkar mere pas baithe hain" ( I have lived my life fully and look even today i am lucky to have my loved ones here...implied meaning)
She reached out and held Priya's hand " meri Ek khwaaish hai jo abhi tak puri nahi hui bus woh puri ho jaye to mein Chein se apni yatra pe ja paungi" ( there is only one wish of mine yet to be fulfilled before I go)
Through confusion and tears Priya looked up at her, dadi continued in her feeble voice " kya tum mere Golu ka haath thaamogi!"( will you marry my grandson!)
If she thought that her life had been like a roller coaster ride till now then this was definitely the climax point where you get thrown off the steep edge! Seven months ago when she had started tutoring Natasha Kapoor, she thought that she had hit the jackpot, not only had she found the means to get enough money together to gift her best friend a honeymoon package but also had gained the love of a family while tutoring Natasha at her home. Three to four times a week she got to look forward to spending time with dadi, Nitasha and Rishab. She had seen him a few times ( ok..ok...so more than a few times) the man she had only read about in newspapers and magazines ,THE MAN SHE HAD A CRUSH ON". Their interactions were far and few but every time she saw him he simply took her breath away!
They had been married for almost three weeks now. This wasn't the conventional marriage...married off in a hurry, both were still trying to come to terms with the fact. On top of that living under the same roof...in the same room...same bed with the man who made her senses go weak was pure torture to her sanity. He was thorough gentleman...from giving her space to adjust to her new life and him, he quietly helped by making room for her books, clothes and other belongings even though She could sense that it was big change for him too.
Along with admiration, the sensual heat was starting to build up between them. They had whole heartedly accepted this Reluctant marriage. Sparks were already there they just needed right conditions to turn to fire... which the expert dadi knew how to handle with the whole team of helpers on her side. When the dori of her blouse had knotted into a tight double knot, he had to come to her rescue trying whatever it took...with his teeth skimming her oversensitized skin, his wet lips scorching the points of their contact...she surrendered to the thrill,the adrenaline and the driving need to take it further.
Together they delved with the same intensity of passion into this unexplored realm.Their relationship had become the one of intense physical need for each other. She was living a life that she had never even dreamed of with a loving family, a passionate relationship and a secure financial future...until
He had to leave for an urgent business trip...he had only been gone for two days, she felt so emotionally vulnerable without him. She was missing him, and it was a numbing kind of miss where you feel like a part of you is missing. The fear that what if once this honeymoon phase was over...would he want her, need her the same way,kept pestering her. She had fallen in love with him...was it the same for him? Her need for him scared her. Her emotional turmoil was making her insecure...Just when she was at her wits end with these questions and doubts,her phone rang. Her best friend wanted her urgently. Before leaving she left a note for him
" Dear Ram,
I am leaving!...I don't know when or if I will be back but I do need some time to sort out my life. Please don't get me wrong...our marriage has been the best thing that has happened to me and you have been nothing but a wonderful companion...but I don't want to continue this relationship. These few days away from you have made me realize that we are in this relationship for all the wrong reasons. Ordained by circumstances we were brought together...but we are two very different persons and in time you will realize that we are not meant to be...Maybe I am wrong about this...and i sincerely hope that I am but for now I need time to sort this out. Please don't make any attempts looking for me...if it's meant to be ...we shall meet again!

PRESENT TIME
As she walked towards the exit with Neha, her mind kept reeling with thoughts...Was she really that naive and childish to not see that it had been nothing but love all along! From giving her time to adjust to creating a racket, lining up specialists and top notch doctors when she looked pale and sick ( from depression) to making attempts to connect with her family and friends ( which she denied for her own reasons). Sure ...it was never spelled out in words or even spoken of ...Were flowers, cards or confession really needed in lieu of warm bear hugs, butterfly kisses and unconditional care and respect! If taking care of her every small or big wish WASN'T LOVE THAN WHAT IS! If laying awake with her, massaging her back during that special time of the month,trying to soothe away pain WASN'T LOVE THAN WHAT IS!. If following her around without getting any rest for the last couple of days WASN'T LOVE ...THAN WHAT IS! Despite the fact that she was the one who decidedly to leave so abruptly and without giving him a chance yet here he was...
With tears welled up in her eyes, she turned around to face him
" Aa..aau...aa...ouch! Yaar, yeh kya kar rahi ho! "( What are you doing!) yelped Ram in pain
" Arre ...baba...galati Ho gayi humse! "( we made a mistake!)cried Neha..."please humare kaan chodon...yaar..bahut dard ho raha hai!" (Please let go of our ears, it's hurting a lot!)
" Accha aur Uss dard ka kya Jo tum mujhe de rahe ho" ( what about the pain ( heartache) given by both of you!)
Letting go of their ears..." Thodi der ke liye toh meri Jaan hi nikal gayi thi ( I almost believed you for a little while)then I put two and two together"
Ram " this is not fair yaar! You are the one who left without any explanations! You...you .".Priya quickly placed her finger on his lips. Looking at Neha and Ram, she pleaded " I am soo SORRY! I am sorry for ever doubting the love of the two most precious people in my life...I have been so fortunate to have both of you in my life yet because of my own insecurities, I doubted you...please...please! Mujhe maaf kar do!"(Forgive me please!)
"Ram... I was afraid of rejection, rejection from the one person that mattered the most...I am sorry that I couldn't see past my fear of rejection ...I wanted you to tell me that you were in love with me just like I was but now I know that love is not about just saying those words, rather love is a promise about Understanding unspoken words, being each other's strength and taking care of each other through life's ups and downs ...and you have loved me all along!"
Ram opened his arms and she walked right into his embrace and placed her head on his heart feeling home again!
Ahem! Ahem! Neha coughed, sulking she added" okay love ke chakkar mein friend ko toh bhul hi gayi" ( you forgot all about me)
Priya looked up at her and said " a friend is a person who knows all about you and still loves you...I am so blessed to have a friend like you. Neha, I am sorry! I really am...please mujhe maaf kardo!"
" Accha theek hai, tumhe pata hai Ki tumhaara Rona mujhe accha nahi lagta...just because you married Ram ...is baar tumahri galati maaf karti hun!" ( you know I can't see you crying, besides you married Ram so I forgive you this time!)
By the way, How long have you two been plotting this? And how did you two meet? " Priya fired away boggled by the fact that Neha and Ram knew each other.
Ram sheepishly admitted " woh after our marriage, you looked so down as if you wanted to share this news with someone close to you...and remember I even asked you...so I did a little investigation of my own...that's how I found out about Neha and believe me I didn't want to interfere but I couldn't see you so unhappy either so I called her up and explained the circumstances in which we got married". " ...and when I saw you happy again I knew that Neha had gotten in touch with you...besides..."
Putting his arms around Priya and Neha on each side Ram exclaimed " Saali itni khoobsurat ho toh dosti jaldi kar hi leni chahiye!" ( when sister-in law is this beautiful then befriending her sooner is better!)
" AAH...AAUU...OUCH!" Both Priya and Neha pulled his ears!
YEH LAMHEIN YEH PAL HUM BARSO YAAD KARENGE
YEH MAUSUM CHALE GAYE TOH HUM FARIYAAD KARENGE!
We will remember and cherish these precious moments for years to come, we will be yearning for this season once its gone.
