Part 4

He half ran to the room. He opened the door and rushed in. She was sitting in the bed, her hands over her face. He walked towards her "Priya" he called her by name. She looked at him, her eyes were red she has been crying. It was only 15 minutes he left her. "Priya wants wrong?" his heart was paining seeing her in pain "Ram..!! My..!! My pen drive..! It's lost" she stammered. "Priya I am not getting anything. What pen drive?" he asked confused. She didn't reply, but tears flowed down her eyes. "God sake what's it Priya?" he shouted. "Ram the last presentation of my project..!! I had it in the drive.. and..." "Its lost" he finished. She shook her head. He went to her and knelt in front of her "Priya we will find it yaar don't cry" he consoled. "No Ram I left in near my laptop and ..." she tried to breathe some air. Ram was hesitant whether he can touch her."Don't you have another copy" he asked. "Ram I can do an entire new one, but its confidential, don't know who took it" she said. "Priya look at me" he raised her chin. She looked at him. He knew that the drive must be very important. She looked at him for a few seconds and passed out completely on the bed. "Is she ok doctor?" Ram asked the doc who was checked Priya. "Yeah Mr.Kapoor she is fine but seems like she is suddenly distressed over something. Ram nodded listening carefully "Why don't you give something to make her sleep so that I can sort out everything". "Yeah I have given her. Just take care" Saying the doctor left. Ram went to the bed and looked at her sleeping. He pulled the duvet and covered her "I will sort out, I promise" he told and turned off the light. He closed the door silently and left. He took his mobile and dialled a number "Kevin need you here immediately" saying he cut the call.

"Kevin looks Priya's pen drive is missing, I just want you to check it in the deck and in the hall, can you?" he asked. His mind was totally lost, her teary face stood in front of him. "Sir you please don't worry we will find it" Kevin said. Ram gave him a smile "Thanks a lot Kevin. I will check in her room" he said and left. Ram entered her slowly and light one lamp making sure it didn't disturb her sleep. He gazed at her sleeping form for some time, he felt relaxed. He slowly searched the whole room going through all her belongings one by one. His eyes felt heavy, he never skipped sleep, but he continued his search. After some hours he sat in the chair in the small balcony and looked at her, she didn't move a bit. Her dairy was lying in the table; he picked it up and opened it. A picture of her parents with her was there. "So her mom must have passed recently" he thought to himself. He flipped through the dairy and after a long minute he placed it back. "I can't break her trust anytime" he told himself. His phone buzzed, it was Kevin. Ram slipped out of the room throwing a last glance at her. "Ya Kevin" he answered. "sorry sir but there nothing here, I searched thoroughly" he said. Rams heart suddenly weighed tonnes. "I won't give up" he thought. "Kevin we are meeting the captain now" he said and cut the call.

As Ram walked to the captain's room with Kevin by side, his legs ached, his eyes drooped. "Sir why can't we see in the morning" Kevin asked. "No Kevin must find before she wakes" he informed and walked faster. They entered the captain's room. He was sitting in a corner reading a book. "Mark..!" Ram called. "Hello Ram what brings you here so late" the captain enquired. "A small problem, one of my friend Priya I mean Mis.Sharma, she lost her drive which contains some important files in it, very confidential" Ram spoke fast. "Oh that's so sorry to hear, but Ram nothing can be done now, all are sleeping, I will make an announcement in the morning" Mark said. "What do you mean nothing can be done now? It's a confidential thing and we are scared that it might be in the hands of wrong people" Ram shouted, he was losing his temper. "Ram just relax what do you expect me to do now?" Mark asked. "What? You're the captain do something" Ram fired. "Ram please find yourself some sleep we will sort this in the morning, I promise nothing would have happened, I will say my people to search in the cameras if anything or anyone is seen to behave abnormal" Mark said. "Sir I think he's right" Kevin interrupted. Ram gave a nod "Fine but I want the drive" saying he left the place. Ram sat in one of the benches in the deck, the air was freezing. He closed his eyes. Her teary face hung in front of him, hunting him. There was only one person in this world whose tears he can never bear and it was his mother, but now Priyas tears made him feel worse. "Sir" he heard Kevin call. He opened his eyes and saw him with a cup of coffee "thanks Kevin can you leave I need some time on my own" he said. Kevin nodded and left. Ram sipped the coffee thinking what to do. He checked the watch it was around 3. As time flew his eyes went too heavy and he fell asleep on the bench.

"Sir wake up" Kevin tried to wake his boss who was sleeping in the bench. Ram opened his eyes and looked at him "Sir I met the captain, he said he will announce when people come for breakfast" Kevin informed him. Ram nodded and left to his room. He checked whether she was sleeping till. "the doze must be heavy" he thought. He freshed himself, he wore a white shirt and blue shorts. The time seemed to drag without her. He had his breakfast alone. The captain gave an announcement and all the people agreed to search it in their rooms. Ram once again searched it in her room but no luck. He went to meet the captain "Mark if I am not getting it tonight then I will have to individually search all the people belongings" he said "Ram but you can't do that, they are passengers not robbers " Mark defended. "Mark till night. I need the drive, it's very important" Ram stormed out. Ram met the doctor to when she will be waking up. He felt so depressed, "what will I say if she wakes up" his heart asked him. He had no answer. He took his mobile and dialled his mother number.

His mom patiently let him speak whatever he felt. She always believed in giving him his space. "Ram listen son, nothing will happen to the drive. I am sure you will get it. Your tensed coz you don't want her to be upset, just calm down and wait" she told hm. "Ma its not like that, you must have seen her yesterday, she was miserable and she passed out, doesn't this show how much important it must be" he said. "ram now relax, look you don't know how she might react to you at his stage, so just tell her to have a talk with her pa just like you're talking to me, now be with her, she needs support until she gets the drive. Just trust fully that the drive is safe" she told him. "Okay ma then let me check her" he cut the call. He checked the time, it was 12. He decided to get her lunch. He filled a try carefully with whatever she took the other day and made his way to her room. He placed the food in the table and sat looking at her. she stirred a bit and opened her eyes looking directly at him. He gave her a smile; she gave a weak smile back. She looked very innocent. He went near her. "Priya fresh up now and have food" he said. She looked at him blankly. She didn't know what was going on. Why was he here? . She had questions but her heart told to obey him. She pushed the duvet and went to the washroom. Ram opened the food and kept it ready for her when she stormed out of the room "ram pen drive?" she asked. "Priya now relax first eat then we will speak about that" he said. "Ram no..!! Where's it?" she asked. Tears welled her eyes. "Priya I told you to eat, will you listen to me" he said slowly. She looked at him and obediently sat on the chair. "I lost the drive" she said. "Priya no..!! we will find the drive" he promised. "Please have you food now" he insisted she didnt listen to him. He took the food and scooped a spoonful "Priya please for my sake" he pleaded. She looked at him, he knew she was fighting her tears. She ate as he feed her spoon by spoon. "Priya if you don't mind, talk to your father you will feel better" he said. "No Ram I promised pa I won't work here, but I broke it and now I am suffering" she said. "Priya nothing is your fault. Ok wait I have another idea" he took his phone and called his mom. He talked to her for a while and extended the phone to Priya "Talk you will feel free" he said and she took the phone.

Ram left the room leaving her to talk to his mom. He knew that surely this will make her feel better. He had some food and came to check her. She was dozing off in the chair, he smiled, he was sure his mom told her story or sang a song. He went near her and carried her to the bed. Her hands clutched his shirt. He placed her on the bed and gazed at her. he tucked her hair which hid her face and caressed her face lightly. He gave a sigh and left. Ram decided to spend some time in gym. He called Kevin now and then and asked about the drive. It was evening around 6. Ram was sitting gazing absently at the seas "Uncle" a sweet voce called. Ram turned to see the small boy "Hi champ" he picked the boy and placed him on his lap. "Uncle where's aunty?" he asked. "Oh aunty is little sick so she is taking rest" Ram told him. "Mmm..!! why did aunty eat ice-cream" the boy asked innocently. Ram smiled "Yeah sought of" he replied. "Aunty promised to play with me today" the boy told him. "Never mind tomorrow we will play together" Ram told him. "Ok uncle can you promise me something?" the boy asked. "Yes champ of course" Ram replied. "Will you take care of aunty very well as she is sick" the boy asked extending his hand. Ram took in tiny hands in his "Pakka promise, I will take the best care of your aunty" he said smiling. The boy slipped his hand in his pocket and took a chocolate "And I bought this for her. Can you give it?" he asked. "ya I will make sure it will reach her" ram told. The boy kissed Ram and got down "Bye uncle" he said. "Bye champ" Ram waved back. The boy ran and stood for a minute and ran back to Ram "Uncle I forgot something" he slipped his hands in his pocket and took a white drive "Can you give this also?" he asked. Ram looked at the drive stunned. "Champ..!! ho.. How.. how did you get this?" he stammered. "Yesterday night I came in search of aunty she wasn't in her room, it was open so I went in and saw this toy near her computer, so I took it for playing" the boy said innocently. ram heaved in relief. "Champ I will give it her but promise uncle something" he said. The boy nodded "Whatever you take from others, just tell them even if it's your parents ok" he said. The boy nodded"Ok uncle promise" he smiled. Ram hugged the boy tightly. "Will see you soon champ" saying he hurried to the room.

Ram opened her room door. She was talking to someone in phone "Listen to me, the drive is safe Ana" she was telling in her phone. She cut the call and sat on the bed and covered her face with hands "I messed up" she said. "No you didn't the drive is safe" Ram said. She looked at him as he held the drive to her. "Ram How...?" she stammered. "you left your door open yesterday and that chotu Ram he took it" Ram told her. She stood up "How stupid I have been" she said as tears poured down her eyes. He slipped the drive in his pocket and cupped her face, he rubbed the tears with his thumbs "Please Priya no more crying, it want your fault and nothing is wrong now..all is fine!!" before he could finish she hugged him tightly, as tight as she could. Her hot tears, he could feel them through his shirt. He didn't know how to react. Her body was pressing against his. He caressed her hair; "All is well now Priya" he said and let her drain all the tears she had.

Ram informed the captain and his mom about the drive, when Priya took a shower and freshen herself. Kevin bought them food to her room. They dined, Ram tired to cheer her but she kept complaining about her. "Priya shall we move out, you need some fresh air" he said. She nodded. Ram led her out, the deck was little empty, ram led her through a stairs and they reached the top of the ship. It was small circular are just for five people to stand, The breeze was so pleasant. Priya looked around, the far end they were able to see rows of light "Beautiful sight it?" she asked. "Ya that's the place we will reach in three r four days" he said. He sat on the wooden floor and rested on the railings. Today He learnt how much she loved her work . She sat beside him. He knew the perfect way to calm her down "Priya can I know what was in the drive, that it hurt you so much. If you wish" he asked. She looked at him "I would love too. I am doing a recent research on neutrinos. And a team of us are working on a new theory and the drive contained some things regarding it. You want to hear my research" she asked excitedly. After a long time he saw her smile, he felt happy "Yeah sure" he said. "Neutrinos are particle that travel a fraction of seconds faster than light..." she spoke continuously lost in her world. E simply gazed at her. She talked for hours and suddenly felt something smooth hit her shoulder. She turned to see Ram sleeping peacefully, his cheeks resting on her shoulder, his breath fanning her cheeks. He smelled good. His eyes looked tired. She closed her eyes and thought; she wasn't clear what happened the day, memories of him feeding her, giving her words of hope flashed in her mind. "What would I have done if he wasn't here? Why does he do so much for me?" she thought. She opened her eyes and saw him still sleeping. He looked like a baby. she nudged him lightly. He opened and dreamily gazed at her and smiled. She smiled back "Shall we leave" she asked. "Oh sorry I didn't mean to sleep" he said realizing he slept. "No Ram please don't be. I felt really good telling it" she said. He smiled and blushed lightly "And thanks you. I don't know what I could have done without you?" she said. "Remember no sorry and thank you in friendship" he said smiling. She hugged him lightly. He reciprocated "Shall we go" he asked. He got up and held his hand for her. They left to their rooms.

No matter how beautiful or worse the day is; it has to end..
