@PS: I am fedup of Mahaan Heroines as I call them...I would have very much appreciated if Priya on hearing her mother, glared at her, saying ok till now my money was good but not any longer...atleast I would have done that if my mother ever (which I think she will not in her wildest dreams) did something like this...

tintiny - exactly. I would rather Priya be selfish and rude - at least THAT would show some human emotions, right or wrong. I have no problem with her being the provider of the family; but at least there should be some hint of dissatisfaction! Such mahaanta is beyond me...

I have two bhabhis who are a lot younger then me and born and raised in India and believe me they have no trouble answering back...that is why I find in the soap the naram naram betis, bahus...and even if a girl is soft hearted at least to one parent she would show her hurt and disappointment...that is the human nature.

Nice discussions however I feel that it is too early to judge the show just yet, its only 2 episodes old and I don't think the promos are misleading at all, the promos showed what the main story of the show will be, the beginning episodes is only setting the scene so we can connect with the characters. I think we should just watch the show and start judging only when the story is in full flow. Anyhow, in the interviews Ram and Sakshi gave during the launch, Sakshi said that they will not be meeting in the serial so soon!

I agree with you about the mahanta of heroines in serials now a days...every single TV show is filled with them.(exception being Suhana from SGP...she's just awesome😃)

BUT dont you think that if they do show the selfish human nature aspect in these characters, these shows wouldn't last two days on the air because the aunties who provide TRP's for these shows dont want those characters, because Tulsi,Parvati,Prerna and Archana are the ideal bahus...who wouldn't want a bahu, daughter, wife like them?? They're strong in their own way, give bhashans on philosophies that we all believe in (some of us) but don't act out on it, they're true and they're mahan and are ready to give their left arm for their families

why do you think people consider Tulsi, Parvati, Archana etc above the rest? its because of their OTT mahanta...I agree that it is very unrealistic aspect of a person (NO sane person takes the crap that these characters were put through) yet they still are considered to be popular even today for serial fanatics

I think the reason Ekta hasnt done anything different with the show is BECAUSE of her target demographic of middle class females, that's why we're so disappointed because its been there done that, however that is the formula that has worked for EK in the past and will continue to work for her in the future

I for one do like these characters but also am annoyed when they get OTT mahan. One of the biggest duffers on TV right now is Archana from PR...she was an amazing character but now I feel like slapping her because of her mahanta...in fact the only realistic protagonist Ekta has EVER created is Piya from PKYEK because being a teenage girl I can relate to her somewhat(minus the fact that she is in love with a vampire). I was discussing this with my cousin today that Priya is an older version of Piya...I dont think Priya is going to be OTT mahan like Tulsi etc. I hope she maintains a strong dignity about herself like Arohi from KMH did
