Yes as Shreya mentioned- maybe a silent, brooding artist or a poet..but it has to be something where he has to use his eyes and body language more than words! He cant be an Abhishek Rawat's Nikumb. Nikumb might be cynical, he might have the angst but still hes not the silent brooding types- he is actually pretty chirpy, upbeat and positive in his actions- maybe not so in his thoughts! I cant even see MR playing a Nilumb like character..he just wont fit in. Thats why Abhishek Rawat is such a perfect cast for nikumb- from his body language, mannerisms to his 'pakad' over the language. Azam too for that matter- perfect casting.
Jumping on to NM...I have not seen the credits..but is he the ONLY writer for the show? Or do they have a team? But vision toh usi ka hoga na? I really hope so- that is what I am banking in at the moment that it will be steered in the right direction eventually.
LOL since you mentioned MR, this is reminding me of another discussion that happened in the LTL forum way back after NBT had just started airing and people were asking if MR could have played Mohan...and I'd said no...he just doesn't have it in him to play slice of life...his very persona is too larger than life...and honestly NO ONE ELSE could have played Mohan like Kunal😆...haan Kunal did try to do an MR/Dutta when he played that basti ka bhau version in NBT2 and it didn't work for me...😆...so yeah, some actors are just perfect for some parts.
Anyways, coming back to Nikumb...yes Abhishek is very aptly cast...and I dunno if you saw that interview of his where he mentioned that he was the first choice for the role but somehow things were in limbo for a year and the show went through many casting changes and seemed like he had lost the role but ultimately it came back to him only...meant to be I guess.
You're very right about Ashish needing a part that plays up his eyes and body language than his voice...
Nikumb is a bundle of hyper energy sometimes and that is something I am not able to imagine MR doing...it's hard to put a finger on but there is an everyday ordinariness to the way he talks of some things that Abhishek brings out just right.
Some actors aren't meant to "fit in" I guess...MR is one of them...his aura stands out and doesn't blend in to ordinary/slice of life characterizations.
Re: NM...he's creative head of the whole project I think but the actual writing is done by three people...two guys and one girl...forgetting their names now...but they show up in the credits...I feel like NM sort of conceived the show, set it up but probably doesn't give much input on a day to day basis...the writers probably put it together, ask him to show up whenever they need to shoot a narrative portion and that's about it...
