Things I liked: 10th July

Nice episode today...most of it went in Nikumb's internal struggle with his demons and Yamini waiting for him at the engagement.


1) The scene where Nikumb is feeling haunted by his past even as Azam pesters him with messages about how Yamini is asking about him...and the way he pulls out his writing sheets to write his column and as usual the column ends up being reflective of Nikumb's own thoughts about what is bothering him...his struggle to escape the quagmire of his past, wondering who Yamini is to him that he should even share his past with her.

I really liked how the "Ruke ruke se hum hain, thame thame se tum ho...chal kahin udte phirein...sun man mere...bhatak le na baawre" paragraph was used in this bit...the lyrics are so apt for the characters.


2) Yamini's constant attempts to get through to Nikumb and despite Azam telling her Nikumb won't show up, Yamini's CONFIDENCE that he WILL show up...and she KNOWS how to get him to come😆...and so she ends up texting him a picture of the ring he'd made her buy as a challenge in the chor bazaar...and telling him that he isn't Dushyant who would forget his promise so she expects him to come...the Shakuntala play parallels continue to seep into their real lives😆


3) Yamini's confidence faltering as Nikumb still doesn't show up and just when she's about to give up and go home...lo and behold there he is😆...I liked how they set up that auto bit...Azam doing a double take when he sees Nikumb in the auto he was trying to hail for Yamini to go home...

The juxtaposition of the Baawre song with Nikumb emerging from the auto was just perfectly done😆


4) Both Azam and Yamini giving the cold shoulder to Nikumb to show their hurt for the way he ignored them was damn cute😆...especially Azam...and then the way Nikumb just THROWS the bouquet at Azam and hugs him...adorable moment!😆😆...and Azam relents after a bit of sulking...not forgetting to comment that Nikumb didn't really show up for him anyways😆


5) Nikumb walking up to Yamini and apologizing for being so late...Yamini initially sulking but instantly melting when he says sorry😆...there was such a pleasant, natural vibe to this scene...and definite undercurrents about how this is becoming more than friendship...it was conveyed through their eyes...very subtly and nicely done :-)


6) The Azam-Shaheen bits were really sweet too...especially the way Shaheen puts a nazar ka teeka behind his ear😆...and even tells off her obnoxious friends for making fun of him...


Oh another interesting bit was Yamini getting semi-mobbed by people at the engagement wanting pictures with her...and her thinking to herself, "Nikumb mujhe bachaa lo is sab se"😆...she really expected Nikumb to come and watch out for her there.


Precap: Raghu and his stupid plans...seems like he's finally managed to see Nikumb with Yamini😆...that aside, I'm looking forward to tomorrow's epi cuz it seems like it will be nice NY conversations, the poetry/singing competition😊

I love this show. It keeps on getting better and better with every passing episode.

And like always I am just going to raise some points that I would be happy to discuss with all of you. Well after watching the bit with Nikumbh and his girlfriend, I began thinking and I had lots of absurd thoughts in my mind. It is so weird that the people who were most important to Nikumbh didn't find his passion for theater something worthy. And what is even crazier is that while his continuance in his theater dreams despite his father's refusal was a form a rebellion, what urged him to not abandon his dreams after his girlfriend left him.

Nikumbh has so many emotions and grudges bottled up inside of him and he really needs to let them out. He has created boundaries for everyone even himself and he is afraid to cross them. He is not a completely depressed or rude person, but his sudden outbursts or reactions leave the opposite person confused.

Shaheen is such a sweet girl :)

Yes, I also found that interesting...initially as you said, it was a form of rebellion...although his love for theater was always there but there was definitely rebellion mixed in, a grudge that his father never encouraged him towards it...but then after what happened with the girl he loved and the way she mocked his madness for theater, somehow his resolve to make it only in theater strengthened all the more...one could say that even as his heart broke, his mind grew all the more stronger and stubborn about his dream...or maybe it grew stronger to compensate for that broken heart...One thing was common between his father and that girl in that both of them derided his love for theater because of the financial instability it brought in his life...in his father's case, Nikumb was still able to kinda let it go to some extent but when his very relationship with the girl broke due to this issue, the wounds ended up being deeper...as seen with his reaction to the picture and how he went into depression after that for a bit.

So yes as you said he's created boundaries for himself...as a defense mechanism...and he has his sore points that he will react in an extreme fashion over...so it is indeed difficult for people around him to make sense of what is going on in his mind all the time...temperamental artist😆
