I liked today's epi for the storyline movement...more specifically for the details we got on Nikumb's backstory...so on to the list as always.

1) The opening scene with Nikumb being impressed by Yamini's acting in the rehearsal scene...nicely done...especially well done by Abhishek in conveying that one bit where Yamini turns to look at him after everyone praises her and Nikumb just has this half-smile on his face before he walks over to praise her...

The conversation after this so aptly captures that awkwardness of newfound friendship where you yearn to talk to someone, want them to be around but still don't really know what to say...lol...so both Nikumb and Yamini were giving somewhat awkward smiles to each other in b/w even as Yamini as usual happily gushes about how much they trust each other and what a great team they make😆...Nikumb's awkward smile in response😆

Then the bit with Yamini ever so smartly managing to convince him to come for the engagement...holding him up to his own promise of gifting her something for the darkness task being completed successfully😆

2) NM's narration about how NY are taking the next dosti ka phera...which is all about HAQ...and this was what came across the most in the NY scene too...Yamini was more obviously exercising HAQ on Nikumb without much hesitation...it's the newfound confidence she is developing in herself and their equation with each other...it is the most natural next step in friendship...jataaoing HAQ on each other😆...and Yamini so cleverly reminded Nikumb that he also chose to do what he thought was best for her even if she didn't like it particularly so she's now returning the favor😆

Anyways getting back to NM's narration...beautiful as always...the way he describes how Yamini is knocking at the window to Nikumb's heart, trying to peek in with her badi badi aakhein...lol...asking that Nikumb grant her those rights in friendship...but sadly Nikumb has once been badly burnt...there was a time when he gave those rights to someone freely of his own will without having to be asked...and was only left heartbroken in response...

NM rightly cautions us that he knows Nikumb...and Yamini will get nothing but heartbreak in response to these attempts she is making to open the window to Nikumb's heart...excellently narrated scene👏👏

3) Nikumb discovering some old pictures in his backpack and getting flashbacks about the girl he loved...it seems the girl spurned him for his idealism...his paagalpan as many call it...the fact that he wasn't financially stable seemed to have been a big issue...which is why Nikumb has such a big chip on his shoulder about it, is SO cynical in general...to have been berated for the very thing he holds most dear...his theater, his creativity...has to have been a big blow...his financial instability was mocked...

I find it interesting that despite so many oppositions, Nikumb clung to his dreams...in a sense those dreams became a driving force for him...and that is why life will come full circle for him once he falls in love with Yamini...who happens to be more successful and financially stable than him...that will deffo become a sore point...except this time the result will be different from Nikumb's previous experience...Yamini bechaari will have to face a lot of Nikumb's demons in the process.

4) The last Nikumb-Azam scene where Azam again tries to convince him to come for Yamini's sake but Nikumb has lost his mind over painful memories being evoked again so he's refused to go...him lashing out at Azam over how Shaheen is probably trying to remind him of the difference in their social stratas also shows just how bitter Nikumb really is on this topic...I liked how Azam handled it...saying he will do what makes him happy rather than presuming that the whole world is bad cuz of Nikumb's experience.

Precap: Yamini looks quite pretty in that outfit :-) I guess Nikumb is going to show up ultimately thanks to a guilty conscience? LOL maybe looking at that scooter will be the final catalyst to make him go😆

Lovely analysis... loved the episode...
especially nikumbh - azam scene...
the scene started with azam being so excited and the whole reaction to the
sherwani and letter was funny and cute. One can understand nikhumb's pain.
His pain has made him bitter and catches up at times.
Azam gets hurt and probably the first time they had a little argument which
was high on emotional quotient yet subtle. I seem to be loving their chemistry
more with every passing day. Their friendship is relatable. Kudos to the writers
and both the actors. 👏 👏 👏

Finally watched the episode. You're right it was a great set up, character development and movement in the story.
Like you I am really enjoying the friendship angle of NY relationship and the wonderful growth and slow awkwardness as they become close. Love the sweetness and newness of the relationship. I never would have called it haq or right on each other but NM's wonderful narration and your write up makes me see how that is done. To me it is comfort level with a friend where you know you are not being judged so you can say anything to them. You can be yourself and ask them for things without worry. Loved how Y asked him to come for her and N understood without her saying that she is scared of being alone at the party and later asked Azam to stay with her the entire time. I guess that is the reason he will come to the party.

Another thing I loved was the giddiness that Azam experienced when he receives Shaheen,s gift and the way he tries to calm himself...it was adorable. That kind of stuff can be OTT but it works so well here.

Can't wait for today.

Thank you :-)

Yes, the Nikumb-Azam scene was beautifully done and they are usually the highlight of most epis...I love how Azam does understand Nikumb's pain but still doesn't let his negativity bog him down...neither of them acts mahaan about their friendship either...another that I like about them :-)

@bold: Ahh but see in simple terms, that very comfort level is also known as HAQ...it is only when you are comfortable enough with someone that you start to exert a right over them, EXPECT something from them...that is the point that NM was trying to make I feel and that is how I understood the scene too.

I also liked how naturally Y asked him to come for her...and while it was done ever so subtly, she ended up planting that seed in Nikumb's head that she needs him to watch out for her at the party...it showed later on also when he asked Azam to watch out for Yamini at the party😆...yes his care, worry for her will make him come...along with a possible guilt conscience about hurting her and letting her down😆

And i finally get down to talk about this episode. I missed today's one.

For the first time, we got a proper insight into Nikumbh's back story. I enjoyed the way it was told, Maybe it did get a little dramatic, what with the bangles getting crushed in his hands... But it also made sense because it is such a fair point. Financial security is almost always a point when two people want commit to a serious relationship. Nikumbh was obviously immature back then, while also hopelessly in love with a girl and with his theater. And when she left him, he decided to walk over his crushed dreams (which is what they tried to signify with him walking over those crushed bangles) to pursue what he really loved. And theater has loved him back in return. He may not be a millionaire, but he still is a respected name when it comes to theater in Lucknow. It has given him an identity, a home and a place from where he can look at the world and challenge and dream.

I too see the two clashing over this at some point in the future. But let us see how that unfolds.

On an off note, I hope they shoot the entire play when they finally perform it on stage. Not just tidbits, but the entire play from start to finish. Maybe they can have a maha episode or something. I would love to see Yamini's portrayal of Shakuntala and Nikumbh's vision coming alive on stage. They have done pretty well so far. Almost every episode begins with them rehearsing a scene. Like nothing will allow the show to get deviated at this point.

Getting back, I loved their conversation. Like you said, the portrayal of a budding friendship is SO realistic. Awkward smiles, going overboard with praises (and then admitting it), while also putting across their haq on each other. And they way she manipulated him into coming for the engagement... hah! 😆

Much of the beauty in NM's narration is in the way he chips in his thoughts while also leaving space open for the viewer to interpret. The way he says he knows Nikumbh because he is obviously his character, but also letting the viewer realize that that's not it. Of course there is more to Nikumbh than what his own creator can see. Like all stories and all characters. Because in many ways, a viewer/reader shapes a character. The narrative is wonderful. And of course, so is his narrating it. Like we all have said time and again. The atmosphere he creates... Someone should just rip his scenes and upload it somewhere.

About Nikumbh-Azam, he did raise a fair point regarding that gift from Shaheen, no matter how bitter it was. Coming from him, it made so much sense. But I also LOVED Azam's response. What a wise man! 😆

Anyhow, I will be back with my take on the episode today after I am finished watching it! 😊

Actually honestly, I LOVED the narration of this flashback...the way they used the light and darkness vis a vis lighting in that scene...the song choice was also very good...and then the fact that they keep the figure of the girl in darkness...it's only her voice that comes across to us...the taunting tone in it hitting at Nikumb, his reaction to it...this was another excellent theatrical/stage tool they used to portray a scene...really enhanced the scene IMO...word to the bit in bold...on a second watch, some scenes add to this even more...the way Nikumb speaks of dreams in any context, be it his own or when he's encouraging Yamini and telling her that dreams are only fulfilled for those ppl who KNOW how to get them fulfilled...who are willing to fight to achieve them...his passion for his dreams shows in these statements

Like nothing will allow the show to get deviated at this point. The whole play might be difficult to show but I guess they will show crucial scenes from it...as it is it turns out that Nikumb is going to end up playing Dushyant😆...but yeah it would be nice if they could show the whole thing and see the result of all this hard work put together as a final product.

Much of the beauty in NM's narration is in the way he chips in his thoughts while also leaving space open for the viewer to interpret. Like all stories and all characters. Because in many ways, a viewer/reader shapes a character. Well said...I too love this fact about his narration...the way he talks about the characters as if they are both known and unknown to him...his ability to be both the creator as well as the audience in such instances is what is fascinating...the musing, whimsical quality he brings to the narration when he teases the audience both with what is to come and what already is...he helps us understand the characters and at the same time muses about them in such a manner that our interest and curiosity is piqued further about what it is to come...essentially it is a very simple story, very predictable in nature too...but what NM brings alive for us is the very essential MAGIC of STORYTELLING...cuz stories may or may not be that great, it is the way they are TOLD, NARRATED that makes them special...and this one is being made special thanks to the way NM talks about it...about the characters...

Anyhow, I will be back with my take on the episode today after I am finished watching it! 😊 Cool😊
