Karna undoubtedly was as Adharmi as Duryodhan. And it's also clear that Krishna's offer to Karna was a hoax, although not sure if Karna actually got the politics, but I still don't get it that how does it prove that his friendship was not genuine

It has to do with keeping the crucial information from Duryodhana, Duryodhana was relying on Karna too.

I just read a piece of information today, when Bheema and Karna were battling on 14th day, There was a point of time when Bheema came close to killing karna but stopped himself as Arjun had to do it, then Karna overpowered Bheema but didn't kill him because he promised Kunti

At this point of time, Duryodhana was relying on Karna to kill Bheema for his victory, If Karna had told Duryodhana, he wouldn't be counting on him, That's betrayal

Not Krishna but his promise to Kunti is betrayal of Duryodhan that's it.

That is definitely an unpardonable sin, but it can not be deemed as a proof for his lack of the feelings of friendship.

He probably could hid the news because he felt that this could be a major blow to Duryodhan. Karna was the only Maharathi on which Duryodhan had complete trust. He doubted Bheeshm Drona Kripacharya and even the members of Narayani sena. Had he known that Karna too has his restrictions on killing the Pandavas, his confidence would have gone for a toss. That supposed betrayal I think did good for Duryodhan and Kauravas

His promise to Kunti is a betrayal, but I don't think there couldn't beba scope of even one mistake in friendship. Yes he was not completely dedicated to Duryodhan (which ironically after reading the posts here I have started thinking probably Duryodhan was) but this doesn't mean his feelings were completely forged.

Yes even I don't believe it was completely untrue. Just that Duryodhan was much better a friend than Karna

Guys just small food for thought: if Krishna really had good intentions towards Karna and him to be king or even him to side with Pandavas, he could have easily told YUDHISHTHIR or Pandavas or simply just Arjun about it. That would make Yudhishthir quit his throne and Arjun would never kill Karna. 🤣

Precisely. Yudhisthira would have abandoned the throne in a moment. 😆

That could be a way to look at it.

But seriously the vibes that I get while reading the text is that both of them might have started on a trading note, but slowly they got very close to each other and genuinely started having each other as their best friend and forever support. I gave my reasons

Read all the posts.

Just want to say that even though Karna betrayed Duryodhana by sparing four of the Pandavas, it does NOT prove that he did not have genuine feelings for Duryodhana as a friend.

He did do his duty as a friend to Dury, he killed 2.37 Akshouni soilders, participated in Abhimanyu Vadh and used his Shakti weapon to kill Ghatotkacha.

Yes, his resolve was weakened due to his parentage reveal and his betrayal was big if you measure scales, but how does that mean the friendship was fake?

He did DIE fighting for Duryodhana. He could have removed himself from the war altogether like Rukmi and Balrama, but he did not.

Also, the points that are made to say that Krishna was just manipulating him, he did not have any intentions of actually offering him anything, that is known to everyone. The POINT is that Karna did stick to Duryodhana, he didn't abandon his friend, he didn't fall for temptation.

It does show him as a man of character, that's my point of view.

@Ankita Some argued Krishna had genuine intentions of offering him everything and yet he gave up. Was just countering this. In fact Karna avoiding Krishna's offer was an intelligent move in his side.
