Blaming Draupadi for everything : Isn't it victim blaming?

In today's episode, Draupadi's laughter was blamed for all coming misfortunes.

Yudhisthir said that her mistake was something to be worried about.

Even "Samay" said that her smile would be very expensive.

I somehow felt that they were subtly blaming her for what is to soon happen to her.

It felt eerily similar to dialogues said today like - "Girls who go out, wear Western clothes, party etc. Invite molestation, rape etc."

I was highly annoyed with this.

Anyone else felt that?

That scene first of all, is a major crime-appropriation on BRC's part. Aj ke din mein if he showed that, bande ka show karne ka sapna na usi din toot jaana tha. I also get irritated by all that. I hope he will change his tune after the deed is done.

Haan in the show, what she said was 100% wrong. But that doesn't warrant disrobing her in public (or even in private for that matter), nothing did, and nothing ever will.

Firstly toh I don't think Draupadi ever mouthed those words. Secondly, as Pro said, nothing can justify the vastraharan. If this is the analogy then Duryodhan should've been killed long ago, for the anginat offences he had committed.

This event occurred for the establishment of Dharma but attributing this to that vyang is well, unacceptable.

I too was horrified hearing everyone blamed Draupadi from Samay to Yudi. Entire episode she was indirectly blamed. First of all, she never said anything in book. Show makers seem to hate women. Even if said she was not wrong because this baap-beta messed with their lives. Even if Draupadi did not insult Dury still vastraharan, vanavas and war would have happened because the evil scheme was happening from before only. Subhadra was not there otherwise she too would have been staked after Draupadi and disrobed like her. So blaming only Draupadi for war is too much. So what all happened during Ludo Game would happened even if she had not insulted him. Insult was just bahaana to blame women for everything. She did not even insulted Karna in swayamvar in book. Even if she did why only she blamed? What about all the misdeeds of Kauravas and Shakuni?

Yah it's really pathetic when they just blame draupadi directly..

Means its just shown in tv series that draupadi laugh at him..but was it really happened ?

N whatever duryodhan did with pandva means he try to kill bhim when they were kids,he try to kill pandva in lakshgruh..he give the totally waste land khandavan to them..n after all this if draupadi does his one insult or laugh then

he has right to do her vastraharan??

In the texts, Draupadi was not even in the scene. When Duryodhana fell in the water, all the Pandavas laughed out.

That "Andhe ka putra Andha" line is taken from some folklore/theatre, as far as I know. It's not in the text.

What they are showing is the height of misogyny! The attitude is: women must behave within a very limited framework that the authoritative men of the society will decide and if they don't, it will have a dire consequence because she is dangerous! And what consequence? Public shaming and molestation.

Now, I don't know if she really said that blind one dialogue for real. But even if she did, nothing can ever ever justify her humiliation. Duryodhan had too feeble a substance and too massive an ego. Everyone is aware of his violent end.

Misogyny aaj bhi hota hai. See any present TV except few ones. The hero cows ro heroine's life even for silliest reason. Still heroine falls for him and it becomes epic love story.

Frankly dear friend, I don't watch a single itv show. I know they are pathetic and cringey, almost all of them. Love? They know nothing about this emotion and only spread negativity. How do I know? Because people watch and it is really heartbreaking 🥺. Thank God that my mom has no interest in them. But the change will come for the better some day.

Twitter people especially new viewers are so horrible on Mahabharat and Ramamyan tags. They idolize Kumbhakaran and Indrajeet but hate Vibhisan because Vibhisan betrayed his nation while other 2 supported Ravan fighting and dying for him. There are people who love Karna and justify his acts as he had sad life. Kunti is called evil than Kaikeyi for not telling truth about Karna. How is it possible? When unwed moms are shamed and punished even today? Women are called feminists and compared to sweet characters of Mahabharat and Ramayan as if feminist is a gaali. They want women to be like Sita and other women. Some call Ram attacking Ravan along with Jamvant, Angad and Hanuman as unfair because he is supposed to attack Ravan alone instead in group? Some call killing Drona by cheat was wrong as they were supposed to be good people who should have killed him be fair means. Yesterday Draupadi was bashed for insulting Dury and most of those bashing her was women only. And surprisingly this time men on twitter defended her saying Draupadi never said that in book and even if she said then what Dury and gang did was not justified. More than old viewers, new TikTok generation viewers are hard to understand. And without researching they fell for RMC version ending of Ramayan ridiculing women saying things like feminists and feminazis will burn. I too was called names once but I block them. Still there are some good people to discuss. So these are the new vierwers both boys and girls who are treating it like some 3rd class Mills&Boons or Wattpad story. I won't be surprised if one day we will have Wattpad romance fiction on Ravan-Sita and Duryodhan-Draupadi too where Sita and Draupadi changed Ravan and Duryodhan with their love. Ghor Kalyug😆.
