I don't know if what I do is the right away or if others do it the same way but here's how I do it.- Once you have your icon colored (and textured, if you'd like it to be), duplicate your background layer/layer 1/icon layer.- Set the blend mode of the duplicated layer to lighten and move it towards right or towards left, say three times. (Select free transform on the duplicated layer and start moving by using right/left/upper/lower arrow. Press the arrow key three times and you will have the image moved three steps towards whichever direction you chose.)- You can now erase the part you don't want of the duplicated image from over your actual image. Alternatively, you can play with blend modes and play with R, G, B modes of duplicated image.- Flatten the image, you're done.Hope this helps.
