Tutorial # WhocaresImmahavingphun😛
So Flora (upar wali madamji) asked me a few days back how to make siggie in cs5. After getting over the shock that someone asked me for siggie tut,😲 I started to think how hard it is for beginners who download softwere and read tons of tutorials on siggie making, but have no idea what tool is used for what purpose and where to look for coloring adjustments. So this is a detailed (hopefully) explanation about CS5.
When I started Photoshop I downloaded 7.0, which is the first version of this softwere. Those who started from 7 would know the later versions of PS (cs series like 2,3,5,6 and cc) has basically the same layout. IMO if you know nothing about PS go download 7, it's the easiest version. For this Tut I will show cs5, you will find a lot similarities in both version.
This is the cs5 window. (open in seperate window for big size)
******
1- layers, where you will see the pics when you making a siggie
2-animation window (you won't need this for a simple siggie)
3- various tools like move, eraser, brush, crop, select. Most important thing.
4- The various features like window, file, edit, image
5- adjustments- for coloring a siggie like brightening, layer, change colors
As a beginner, it's adviceable to start blending with two pics. To open a pic/ multiple pics, go to File (left corner top)>open, then search your pics where you have saved them, click on first pic, then keep pressing control button as you select second one, then third, and so on. Then click on open. Your pics will open side by side.

Now that your pics have opened you need a new document. Press Control+N and a window will appear. Put 500 in width and height and click ok. You can cut your siggie later if you feel it needs resizing.
Back to the pics you opened. If your pics are HQ sizes (like 720 or 960) it won't fit in 500 sized document, right? So you need to resize them, for that go to Image (third from the left corner)> image size, then put dimension in them. Your siggie size is of 500 so keep it lesser than that, then press ok. Do it with both pics (since we are doing two pics blending), then press control+A (select the whole pic), control+C (to copy it), then go to new document and press control+V (paste). These shortcuts are really necesary to do work faster, so learn cut-copy-pasting soon!
This is how your ps looks like.
Now both of your pics are in new document and what you need right now is eraser tool. This is a eraser tool.
The circled part in the pic click on that, and you will see a new window (as per the right one). Don't freak out, for now all you need is a soft brush (the brushes which are ticked mark). To increase or decrease size press ] or [ button on your PC. These are brackets we used back in good ol'd math class, in case you don't remember.😆
****The difference between soft brush erasing and hard brush erasing-
Now onto your siggie. Before doing anything on the pics click on this
Erase parts which overlap each other, cut off sides which you think looks extra (you can do this later too)

Now onto coloring. This is your adjustment window. (If don't show go to Window second to the right on the very top, in the drop down click on adjustment. There would be a tick beside it if it's showing.)
The four important adjustments- Brightness contrast, layer, curve and coloring. Curve is for lightening up your pic, brightness contrast is to make pic crisper, layer is to darken it or reduce black areas and color is to change colors. Play around with them and you will have ideas as to how they work.
After tinkering around my siggie look like this (small tip, you can use gradient adjustment 3rd row second to the last tool, select black and white, then put it to soft light/overlay to give your siggie a bit different look)
**Lighten, screen??? Where???
Here

You are almost done, now only text and texture is left.
Text totally depends upon you. You can chose a simple text (this whole write up is in a simple font for eg), or a cursive font. I tried both and they look like this.

You can put them on lighten/screen to see how they work. To make them more visible duplicate layer (ctrl+J). Then you can also do this.
The ticked marks are the main tools when you working on a text. Play around as per your liking. My font now look like this.
Now if you want you can add texture. There is a big ass tutorial based on texture only by our very own teacherji Desto (Starwalker Link ),
so if you are in a mood please visit her gallery, but to keep it short try bokeh textures. Just search them on google you will get tons of them, download, open/copy/paste them on siggie, then put it on lighten/screen. Now your siggie is ready. ***(Looks ugly I know, but yours will look wayyy better😛)
Phew. So this was 2 siggie blending for people who have just started. Practice with pics, size of siggie, coloring and textures. Increase number of pics gradually, and in no time you will be Pro. Do try out the tut and show what you have got, for any query post a reply and any of us will gladly help you.
