When I add a PSD, it works with the first frame only and not others. Why so?

While making gifs, I convert my frames to timeline and the merge the layers for "smart filters" as I sharpen my gifs before adding the color. Is there any way we can stack gifs in that format? As in while the gif is in timeline and layers are all merged in one. Without closing the gif and re-opening it.

Tutorial for blend gifs please!

I use CS5 Extended.

This is a way of reopening your saved gifs :) I do this often if I want to stack. Hope it works! :)
