Can any1 tell how to give transparent effects...i mean like in this image:

Here the text is written in a different shade of transparent while the triangle on the right hand side is different shade.How to acheive dis?

Also can anyone tell how do we achieve a perfect merge?When i merge my images using eraser tool i dont get the perfect merge which i see in other ppl's siggy ...like this:

but made some
