I don't agree with you here, I mean India or Abroad Indian oarents are laways more protective. And to some extent,now I believe outside are more protective since our kids are in this open society.

My friend just came to US and she let her daughter(7 years) watch all these serials but my daugher is 8 and we have some rules, In India all parents are very busy and on the top of that, every relative there treats your life as theirs and meddle. How much time can you get for your kids??

In India everyone is trying to westernize and we are trying to impose all the values to our kids.

I believe all parents have to is communicate and spend some quality time with their kids, then where ever they live, they are confident and have their own personality.

I think Ajai Sinha is quite modern in his outlooks and I don't think he is biased about working moms!! Working moms can be good moms too. Yes, I agree Aastha has turned out to be a brat but there are many more people to blame for that than just her mom. Also, I personally have NO sympathy for Archana, good mom or not. She may have raised Sia well but she is a crimnal, a top class one at that. I don't know why Ajai Sinha even expects us to sympathize with her. She ought to have been thrown into jail for torturning so many lives. Too bad that she did not have to pay for what she did - oh, well, yes, she died repenting and all, but hardly suffered for what she did.

Hi aaabbb, I agree parents are protective of their kids everywhere. However I would not agree that people in India are growing more and more Westernized. Some may but by and large the middle class is still pretty much middle class there. We have had big discussions on that and I have no intentions on startinga nother. I guess my point is in a country of over a billion we are bound to see all kinds - some Westernized, some not so, etc. So, it all depends on the individual.

I agree with BS2005 that Aja Sinha is possibly trying to bring Geentics into the picture. Well said.

Agree XYZZEE. When Sinhaji can bring genetics in behaviour, he will soon bring Neha, Anandi, Kavita, Simran's mom, and at last Rashmi's first husband from their graveyards too. Gosh! Ajai Sinha is NOW capable of doing anything.

As far as behavioural similarity between parents and kids is concerned, it can be justfied because they live under the same roof. Since Sia did not live with Simran, highlighting their similar tastes, similar behaviour, liking towards yellow color, etc. would be a foolish thing to show. It might a mere coincident though but then it is a very interesting series of coincidences 😃

I really hope the values of our culture and our country is still same. We plan to return back to India and when I hear all the SMS kaand in Delhi and on "Page 3" and in serials how people are going so casually to pubs, the type of clothes they wear and all. I get very scared...

We too plan on returning to India in a few years. I visit very often and have many cousins and friends there. By and large the middle class is still pretty much middle class. As for the serials, where pre-marital sex, kids out of wedlock, EMA are so common, I take all that with a pinch of salt. After all they have to keep the viewers interested. Agreed, you find all kinds there and the Delhi kind of incidents do make you sit up but then they make news only because it is not the "norm". If it is not an everyday happening they would not be hitting the newspapers.. In my opinion, it all depends on the upbringing of parents and friends' circle..Most of our neighbours in Bangalore are very sober, mature and balanced individuals. So, I am not too worried on that count:-)
