Good points Sree - However, I still think Abhi is jumping to conclusions..There is a difference in whether the world believes the girl who was "raped" and if Abhi and Simran do. The difference is that Simran *knows* Sid, the world does not. If I put myself in that situation - I know I would not have been able to comment on such happenings/accusations if the person were unknown to me, but if the person were really close to me and I trusted the person, I would have trusted the person (I think and hope so anyway)! Here Simran knows and *trusts* Sid so I see nothing wrong in her showing her confidence on Sid. As for her trusting Sid and not having trusted the others as much - well, even she admits she has made a mistake in not trusting Shankar.. She does not want to repeat the very same mistake in Sid's case - more so since she has known Sid since he was a child! I think after having learnt from bitter mistakes in the recent pasts, she is more cautious and is also willing to trust people whom she has known for so long.

I do not think Sid being her future SIL has much to do with it. If it were proved beyond doubt that he had raped a girl and if he really had, Simran would have agreed and admitted to it and would never support him. She did not even tolerate it when Aastha (junior) had cheated in an exam. In fact it took a while for Simran to forgive Aastha on that, she was so furious..So, I don't think the situation would be different if it were her SIL - that too when the crime involved is much more heinous than cheating in exams.

I however would give Abhi a benefit of doubt for his behaviour only because he did not know Sid as well as Simran did..As I wrote in some other thread, maybe he is aware of weaknesses towards the opposite sex.. He has been in that situation himself - though he was never so perverted that he would commit a rape.

Great points Pallavi!!! Especially the line where you said, you give Abhi a benefit of doubt just bcos he does not know Sid as well as Simran. Very true!!!

Why is Simran brainless for supporting Sid. She has know Sid from childhood. He has absolutely no track record of doing wrong deeds. If he had to rape a woman, he would not have waited this long in Astha Nursing Home. He could have done this ages ago.
If I was accused of something, when I did not do anything, I would expect my family and friends to believe me, as I have not anything of this sort in the past.
Agreed there is a first to everything, but unless you can prove it, why hold Sid guilty for rape. It just does not stand a leg. Sid's personality and behaviour does not go with the fact that he raped a person.
Abhi is living in another world... he is proving to be brainless not Simran

I am not trying to defend Abhi in any way because i do feel that he is a weak character. However, as a person who has a weakness towards the opposite gender, this rape scenario would appear to be very different to his ownself. It is estimated that about 20% of the women who file 'rape' cases and incidents actually were never raped - it was a consensual decision at the time. Later, if the guy refused to commit to the woman, she filed "rape". I dont know about Indian law, but in the US, if a rape is filed against a guy, it has legal repurcussions for the guy because it is recognized that DNA test may be positive, but it did not have to be rape, so questioning and limiting the person to staying in the city is an expected event. Like I have often said in other discussions (I guess it was on Sinndoor), rape is not forgivable under any circumstances, but the opposite side of the coin is that women realize that they have the power to place a male in a defensive situation.
With respect to what Abhi is doing, he is probably thinking that if Sid indulged in sexual relations with that lady and later she claimed it as "rape", then it could have been a "mistake" on Sid's part. The lady might be claiming rape simply because Sid was going to get engaged to Sia on the same day. It is a dicey decision for anyone, let alone Simran and Abhi.
In Shankar's case, whoever tried to attack the lady - the act was necessarily and evidently violent in its origin - with the hysteria and scratch marks, etc. This behavior is absent in the case of this lady and her accusation of Sid. Shankar is shown to be a less educated individual with a history of crime and loose character. While Sid is a male doctor who works in a (primarily) gynaec hospital. Simran probably realizes that in this field, women are exposed to very personal situations with their doctors and is tending to believe Sid's explanation. One thing that I have noted (in India and the US) that if a female is meeting a doctor (male or female), a nurse is usually present in the room no matter what the consultation is about. Of course they do not show this in TV serials or movies all the time and i know exceptions are made for when a female meets a female doctor. O well...this is Astitva after all and anybody can feel and decide anything...so I should not try to second guess anybody!! 😃
