The history you spoke of I have read of the same while I was reading up the reasons for the community to be so obsessed with their "looks" (-I think we have had this discussion before) .. Also agree about them being secluded ... Few pages back I stated the same: the reason why they aren't so receptive to other cultures and people! .. Globalization and western influence is a good change for their society ... But I think it'll take decades for them to open up to the idea of "openness" to ALL .. 😛

Sam, I did read your take on it. I admire how you don't say anything without analyzing the stats. You stick to what you have seen & known personally. 😊

It's funny everyone was waiting to brush their teeth😂 well they wanna look perfect so....

The close off society... 👀 I hear them...

I'll think more about it though.

Thank you for sharing again!🤗

Its an forum open to varied views, I like how you address things without hesitation🤗

Btw, you should try 'Abyss', I kinda think its like MoA, yet I can't comment about how the pace goes in the coming epis. 🤔

When I was in Beijing I met a lot of Korean friends. They told me that they usually woke up at 5 in the morning to get ready for 8 o'clock class. Also they told me that rather than English more people study Chinese and Japanese. First, because their countries do a lot of business with Japan and China; second, because it is easier for them as they are taught the Hanja; Hanja is similar to Chinese Hanzi and Japanese Kanji.

I heard they typically (not everyone) bathe at night due to their weather conditions/ busy subways. But I feel it is pointless to talk about it, as bathing is Individual's preference, be it when they want to, how long they want to, however they want to. 😆 It can never be a norm Same is the case with getting ready too😊

I watched "An ode to my father" today, and I got an idea of the same things you said about Korea being secluded for a long time when it was a poverty stricken country and also about them being downright rude to foreigners on their face (an instance is shown in the movie). Now they are getting more exposure because of some of their companies becoming global giants, kpop gaining popularity worldwide, their cinema and dramas getting recognition, etc. But english is still a barrier it seems, and unless they fully overcome it , things will still be difficult for them. This makes me think, one of the few things that Angrez did good to our country is English education.. or else it would have been as tough for us as koreans.

Did you watch "Ode to my father" I remember crying buckets for the mining scene & the end scene where he finds his sister. That movie is pure Bliss ❤️

You are right, Shaz, they did feature the country's post Independence struggle. Btw, India and South Korea share the same Independence date, 15th of August 😃

Yes I did!! Have u too? I loved the movie so much.. I was crying so much that mom got scared and was like what happened? 😆 The mining scene didn't make me cry that much.. what made me cry was whenever he would talk to his father .. "Abuji.. it is so difficult for me" 😭 Actually his whole journey made me cry.. esp in the end when its revealed why he doesn't wanna sell the shop.. oh gosh I cried so much 😭😭😭 Ofcourse the sister part was very emotional too.

Its such a such a beautiful film❤️... !!! All thanx to Sam that I watched it! She loved the film and praised it so much that I got curious about it and watched it 😳

Actually, the Korean liberation day from Japan is celebrated both by the North and South Korea. They had their independence in 1945. They were under Japanese rule from 1910 -1945; this 35 occupation rules under the Japanese was Korea's greatest humiliation and setbacks of Korea. A lot of Koreans were forced to take Japanese name and surnames; they had to learn the Japanese language. There were also a lot of Koreans who migrated to Japan at that time to work as a factory labours because the Japanese needed it.

World War II ended up setting a lot of countries free for good. Though it's sad how many had to die horrifying deaths for that to happen.
