Murder mystery is intresting..maybe meg husband did or was involved in something illegal and that karan was keeping an eye ..but meg husband blackmailed karan with some raaz and then kran promised he will come back for revenge

Part 8

The night was unusually silent as Arjun and Riya drove back to the ETF office. The tension in the air wasn’t just about the case—it was about them.

The words exchanged earlier still lingered in the space between them, unresolved, like a puzzle missing its final piece.

Riya stole a glance at Arjun, his sharp profile illuminated by the passing streetlights. His grip on the steering wheel was firm, his jaw set.

"Tum phir se chup ho gaye," she murmured, breaking the silence.

Arjun didn’t respond immediately, his eyes focused on the road ahead. Then, after a long pause, he finally spoke.

"Main sirf soch raha hoon… ki sach kitna ajeeb hota hai," he said, his voice low. "Kabhi kabhi woh chehra dikhata hai, jo hum dekhna hi nahi chahte."

Riya frowned slightly. "Case ki baat kar rahe ho, ya khud ki?"

He sighed, his fingers tightening around the wheel. "Dono."

Riya turned away, looking out the window. "Sach sirf tab ajeeb lagta hai jab hum usse accept karna nahi chahte, Arjun."

A bitter smile played on his lips. "Aur tumhe lagta hai main apne sach se bhaag raha hoon?"

She didn’t hesitate. "Haan."

Her voice was quiet but firm.

"Par kab tak?" she continued, her gaze unwavering as she turned back to him. "Kab tak tum is dukh ko apni zindagi ka ek hissa banaye rakhoge?"

Arjun didn’t answer. Maybe because he didn’t know the answer himself.

As they stepped into the office, they found Shree and Chotu still buried in their work. Sameer stood near the case board, his arms crossed, deep in thought.

"Tum dono aa gaye?" Sameer acknowledged without looking up.

"Kuch naya mila?" Arjun asked, shifting back into professional mode.

Shree sighed dramatically. "Sir, Rajeev Malhotra ke call records nikalna itna asaan nahi tha. Unka ek private number bhi tha jo sirf business partners aur close contacts ke liye tha. Aur wahi number use hua tha murder se kuch din pehle kisi Karan Singh se baat karne ke liye."

Riya’s eyes narrowed. "Matlab Meghna Malhotra sahi keh rahi thi. Rajeev kisi ‘purane hisaab’ ki baat kar rahe the. Kya us number ki location trace ki?"

Shree grinned. "Aapke liye sab kuch possible hai, Riya ji! Yeh raha—Karan Singh ki location ek purani factory ke paas track hui thi. Aakhri baar wahan se signal aaya tha."

Sameer stepped forward. "Toh bina time waste kiye, humein wahan pahunchna hoga."

Arjun nodded. "Team ready rakho. Yeh hamara pehla lead ho sakta hai."

Riya grabbed her gun, slipping it into her holster. As they all turned to leave, Arjun placed a hand on her wrist, stopping her for a brief moment.

"Riya," he said softly.

She looked up, surprised at the rare tenderness in his voice.

"Jo bhi ho… apna khayal rakhna."

For a second, she just stared at him, as if searching for something.

Then she nodded. "Tum bhi, Arjun."

And with that, they headed toward what could be the turning point of the case.

The factory stood in eerie silence, its rusted gates creaking under the light wind. The air smelled of damp metal and old grease, adding to the uneasiness that settled in their chests.

"Careful, team," Sameer whispered, signaling them to spread out.

Riya and Arjun moved together, their weapons drawn, scanning every corner. The dim moonlight filtered through broken windows, casting long shadows on the cracked floor.

"Yeh jagah toh poori tarah chhodi hui lag rahi hai," Chotu muttered.

Just then, a sudden noise echoed—a faint shuffle, as if someone was moving behind the metal crates.

Arjun signaled, and they all moved cautiously.

And then—

BANG!

A gunshot shattered the silence.

Riya gasped as a bullet whizzed past her, missing by inches.

"Sniper!" Arjun shouted, pulling her behind a crate just in time.

Bullets rained down, ricocheting off the metal surroundings. The team took cover, firing back when they could.

"Kaun hai yeh?" Chotu yelled, trying to get a clear shot.

"Yeh log jaante the ki hum aayenge," Sameer gritted out, firing towards the unseen attacker.

Arjun’s eyes darted around, calculating. "Riya, mujhe cover do!"

She nodded instantly. "As you say, Sir!"

With quick precision, Riya fired toward the source of the bullets, forcing the attacker to retreat momentarily. Arjun used the chance to sprint forward, jumping over debris.

And then—he saw him.

A man, dressed in black, slipping through the shadows.

"Ruko!" Arjun shouted, but the man was fast.

Too fast.

Arjun chased after him, Riya close behind. They weaved through the abandoned factory, their boots echoing against the cold concrete.

Just as Arjun was about to reach him, the man turned—and threw something.

A flash grenade.

"Riya, peeche hato!" Arjun yelled, shielding her as the blinding light erupted, momentarily disorienting them.

By the time their vision cleared—the man was gone.

"Sir, woh aadmi kaun tha?" Chotu panted as they regrouped.

Arjun clenched his jaw. "Wahi jo humse door bhaag raha hai—Karan Singh ya uska koi aadmi."

Sameer ran a hand through his hair. "Humare paas ek hi clue tha, aur woh bhi haath se nikal gaya."

Riya exhaled, her eyes scanning the area. "Nahi… kuch toh hoga jo usne chhoda hoga."

And then, she saw it.

A small, crumpled piece of paper, lying near the crates.

She picked it up carefully and unfolded it. Her breath hitched.

It was a torn piece of a hotel bill—dated one day before the murder.

The name printed on it?

"Rajeev Malhotra – Room 306"

Riya looked up at Arjun, her heartbeat accelerating. "Arjun… iska matlab Rajeev murder se ek din pehle kisi hotel mein tha. Aur shayad wahan Karan Singh bhi usse mila ho."

Arjun’s eyes darkened. "Agar yeh sach hai… toh Rajeev ka murder pre-planned tha."

Sameer’s voice was sharp. "Humein us hotel ke CCTV footage nikalne honge."

"Aur sach jaanne ka yeh ek aur raasta hoga," Riya added.

Arjun exhaled.

"Toh chalo. Dekhte hain sach kaun chhupa raha hai… aur kyun."

And with that, the case took a new turn.

But so did Arjun and Riya’s story.

Because even as they chased the truth, they were also inching closer to the biggest truth of all—

That no matter how much pain separated them, their destinies were still tangled together.
