I mentioned this on the previous topic that I had originally started my FF on but that got closed so.

Unpopular Opinion but I've always felt like Rathore was a character that didn't really quite balance well with Arjun. Rathore, individually is a good character. But you throw in the whole friendship angle with Arjun, I feel like things don't really work that well. There was always the third angle with Roshni so i didn't want that.

In this story, I wanted someone to stand by Arjun.

I get it that most people don't like me leaving out Rathore, so maybe, hopefully, I'll get him somewhere. If not in this story, in someone else.

Also now that we're talking, I'd love an update on Imperial Affliction. Quite attached to story for a million reasons ❤️

Yash is cool and has this lightness which I can't imagine with Sam.

Lol kya puch liya FF ke bare mein 😆 I had written that years ago, and really not sure whether I will go back to it. The story is my fav as well.

CHAPTER 11

" NO"

"But..."

"NO"

"Lekin"

"NO. NEVER. What is wrong with you? Pagal hogaye ho kya? Dimagh kharab hogaya tumhara Yash" Arjun yelled, annoyed and hurt with his bff's suggestion.

"Sab theek hai. Aur tu ye chillana band kar. Itna acha toh idea de raha hoon" Yash whined.

"ACHA? ACHA? I'm Sorry but I don't think I understand. How does hiding Riya somewhere help? What if something happens when we're not around? I'm not letting her out of my sight until whoever is doing this is caught" Arjun huffed. Hiding Riya?! No way. He'd be worried sick and wouldn't be able to concentrate on the matter at hands.

"But that way we'd be able to see who's looking for her? They'd try to trace her and all that jazz. Think about it" Yash pleads.

Arjun pretends to think for a moment and then flat out says "NOPE". Yash was about to argue with him when the door opened and the research specialist peeped in.

In a second, Arjun was on his feet and started moving towards her but stopped when he noticed Riya walking in, sweat shining on her forehead.

Slowly he asks, "Kya hua Riya?"

Riya starts fidgeting with her fingers and looks everywhere but in the eyes of the worried man in front of her.

"Everything alright buddy?" The second in command asked, not missing her tense form

"I need to tell you something" she whispers.

Arjun immediately walks towards her and cups her face, "Kya hua?" he asks softly

Tears start streaming down her cheeks and she begins to sob loudly. Worried to the core, Arjun pulls her in his arms. Yash gets up off the chair and looks on, waiting for her to calm down.

In between sobs, Riya whispered hoarsely" I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. "

" Someone followed you AND YOU'RE TELLING ME NOW? WHAT THE HELL RIYA? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? "

Riya looked away, tears in her eyes. She mentally kicked herself for not bringing this to Arjun's notice before. She should've known Arjun would react this way, and why not. He had every right to be angry. If she had reported the incident back then, maybe, somehow this situation could have been avoided. But how could she possibly fathom that that guy was bringing so much trouble.

As soon as Riya had, between sobs,managed to tell them, what had transpired on the day of her check up; Arjun had lost it. He was right all along. Something was indeed wrong. He was angry with her not only because she didn't tell him about the stalker but also had put her life in danger.

As he angrily romped about the room, Yash looked between the two of them. Both where right in their own sense; countless shameless men stalked women every day - Riya was right about that. But Arjun was right too - she ought to have brought up the matter somehow. They couldn't let someone stalking her walk away Scot free.

Clearing his throat, he breaks the almost maddening silence in the room, "Look. I admit Riya you were wrong to have not talked about it. Atleast Arjun ko bata sakti thi tum. And especially after knowing that he had a bad feeling all along. I get it where his anger is coming from. But," he looked at Arjun and says " We don't know if that guy is involved in this situation. I mean, these could be two completely different and individual occurrences and I hope they are. But if they're not we have a problem. "

She ran as fast as her tired legs could. As she merged in the crowds, randomly changing her path and running into a lane and coming out from another, Dr Priya felt like a fugitive on the loose. Only this time, the bad guys were looking for her.

She recalled as she narrowly escaped the blast, she was in the garden when the blast had occurred. She watched in horror as the house burnt down to the ground. As if in a trance, she had began to walk near it when she heard the men talk, "There's no way the doctor must've survived this. Kartal will be pleased"

Horror transformed into fear and panic when she had realised someone wanted to kill her! For a minute she stood numb. As her began processing everything, she knew it was time to make the run. The men had mingled in the crowds gathered around the site of tragedy.

Taking advantage of the crowds, she ran away hiding her face in the hoodie she was thankfully wearing.

Now, so many hours later, Priya had only thing in mind.

Survival.

She looked about nervously. Positive no one was tailing her, she ran to a nearby police station.

The Inspector stared at the woman who had just barged in, huffing and puffing. One look at her and he knew who he had to call.

Shree was furiously typing at the keyboard, while his muscular friend stood towering beside him. They were at the hospital where Riya had had her check up. Shree was trying to access the footage from that day, a tiny hope bubbling in his heart.

Entering the date and the probable time, his eyes scanned every frame on the screen.

After two hours of analysing the footage, he had nothing. Nothing. Nada. Frustrated, he was about to smash the monitor when Chotu intervened,"Kya kar raha hai?" he asks sternly.

"Toh aur kya karu? Bechari Riya wahan tadap rahi hai. Koi kutte uske piche padhe hai aur yahan Hume dead end pe dead end mil raha hai" the techie whines.

Chotu understands what he was going through. Guilt had swept onto him like huge wave and washed away whatever happiness he was pretending.

Firmly clasping his muscular hand on the techie's shoulder he says, "Kuch nahi hoga usse. Is baar kuch nahi hone denge usse"

.

Shree looks up, tears in his eyes and prays his friend's words hold true. He had lost his best friend for a few years and when she came back, he had pushed her away. This time around, he was going to make sure no such thing happens.

He wipes his tears and copies the footage into his laptop, just in case Arjun's sharp eyes find something his had missed.

Riya just watched on as everyone had erupted into a frenzy when Arjun had received the call. The doctor was safe! Arjun was wondering if he should go and retrieve the doctor in person or should send someone else. Yash was talking to the commissioner, calmly explaining him the situation at hand and requesting extra aid for the police station Dr. Priya was at.Aisha was reviewing the security outside and Sakshi made sure the media didn't make mountains of molehills. Shree and Chotu were on their way from the hospital. The forensic expert was in her lab, trying to make head and tail of whatever she could put of Riya's prescriptions and medications.

Riya felt a sharp pain in her heart, everyone was working their heads off not bothering to take time off. Riya was glad her family was in New Zealand. As an added measure, Arjun had contacted the embassy and had requested police protection for them.

So much for keeping her alive.

Kartal roamed in his room restlessly. The plan had to work. It had to. He had invested too much time and effort in it. Obtaining the bacteria from the girl's body was just one step of the plan. A step he had not yet completed.

He recalls how he had set one of his best hunch man to tail the girl. It was only one week later when she had realised someone was following her. And from then on most of the things fell out of place. The original plan was to abduct the girl but almost everytime the ACP was with her. Kartal was smart enough to understand that it was not the best time to attack. That day at the hospital, things were going well until the girl had realised it and outsmarted the guy.

All these failed attempts were enough to get him all riled up. His mountainous ego needed something to feed on. So he challenged the girl. In her safest place.

It was quite easy to place the box of the blue rubber orbs in her locker. All that was needed was a shit ton of money and rekindling an old friend.

Kartal had knocked on the doors of Pathan Lala for help. The latter was only too happy to oblige. He had not forgotten how ACP Arjun had treated him outside the court. So what if Sikandar was dead? Pathan would have his revenge. He had assured Kartal that the parcel would be in his right place the next day, only asking for one thing in return - The life of Arjun Rawte.

As Kartal ran his fingers over his band of bandits' symbol of an Eagle, he felt the metaphor resonate within him. Kabir was a no one. Always below everyone. Braving every storm, Kartal had risen up and went above the clouds. This is why he chose the Eagle to represent him.

He soars above everyone.

It was decided Yash would go and get the doctor to the headquarters. Arjun had said he'd rather be around Riya, much to her protests. No one would be stupid enough to attack the second in command of the ETF in a police station. (!)

Yash pulled up at the police station and ran in straight to the Inspector's office. Thank goodness they had wired the doc's photo to every police station as soon as they could. As soon as his eyes land on the doctor's disheveled hair, he knew things were going to be messy. After having a word with the Inspector, he asks four constables to escort the lady to his SUV.

Priya had just strapped herself in the seat when a shot rang out sending the world into chaos.

Someone was actually stupid enough.

Yash's head snapped when he heard the shot. He turned his head in every direction trying to locate the shooter. His eyes rested on a tiny bit of smoke behind a car. Pulling out his gun in front of him, he indicated the police to cover the SUV while he moved forward cautiously.

Once near the car, he peeps behind it. He finds nothing. As he ran his hand in his hair, he was startled to hear another bullet being fired.

Shocked he turns around to see the bullet just grazing the bonnet of the car. It missed the doctor by a few centimetres. And the doctor had been sensible enough to bend down too!

Gathering himself he shot in the direction of the previous bullet and was somewhat relieved to find a body fall to the ground.

The man was in his thirties, a scruff beard and a startling long mustache donning his face. But what caught the attention of the ACP the most was the symbol of an Eagle on his jacket.

It's been almost an hour since the news had come in. Kartal's man had been taken.

Karatal recalls his words to Dinesh, the guy who he ordered to kill the doctor. He promised if the operation fails he'd deliver his heart to his mother

There was complete pandemonium in the Headquarters.

With the doctor moved to safety in a room away from the eyes of other employees, Arjun set his eyes on the wounded man in front of him. He cracked his knuckles, a devilish mirth in his eyes ;he was ready to charge ahead. This was long overdue now - he had been keeping his anger under tabs. Now was the time to let it go.

It started with a punch - straight to the face. "Naam bol" he asks.

"D... Di...Dinesh" he stammers

Another punch.

"Goli kyu chalayi?" Arjun asks, struggling to keep things simple.

"Saab ne bola tha." came the answer, Dinesh's voice meek and almost silent.

"Aur kon hai ye Saab?" Arjun asks, feeling his patience already running out.

Silence followed.

Another Punch, this time the lips begin to bleed.

"Main nahi bata sakta. Woh mujhe Maar dalenge" Dinesh answers. Karta would chew the life out of him and still manage to hurt him after his death.

" And if you don't answer me, you're not gonna leave this place alive. So you might want to weigh your options." came Arjun's tone deaf reply. If this man was not going to give what he wanted, Arjun would have to wake the monster inside him. The monster that left the entire city covering. The monster that rose with the death of his wife and slept with the death of Sikandar.

Silence yet again.

A couple minutes later, the monster strikes.

Blood, pain and madness.

One hour. One hour since Arjun had let loose his inner demons on Dinesh. Had Yash not intervened, he'd be dead by now.

He had passed out and was currently being held inside the interrogation room stripped of everything in his possession.

Arjun had recognised the Eagle on the jacket. It was identical to what they had seen on the men at the Barrel Pub in the Suman Tiwari case. But things didn't make sense. If they had killed the leaders of The Eagles, like they thought they did, who was orchestrating this? Did someone take over or things were not as easy as they seem.

Gulping down half the bottle of water in one go, Arjun looks around him. The footage proved useless, he had been through it for quite some time. As everyone looked at him expectantly, his eyes landed on the Doctor.

Clicking his fingers, he indicated her to follow him. Yash followed them in the Chief's cabin, not before instructing his juniors to dig anything they could about The Eagles.

Once behind the closed door of the ACP's cabin, Doctor Priya narrated the events of the day.

"I was in the empty space behind my house. Wahan ek puppy hai toh Mein Har roz usse khana daalne jati hoon. Aaj bhi gayi thi. When I was returning, I saw the blast. I ran towards the house but then refrained from going near because I saw two men. Ek ke haath Mein Ek container tha. Probably something flammable. So I hid behind a tree. And then I heard one of them say

"There's no way the doctor must've survived this. Kartal will be pleased" "

Arjun looked on with a grim expression on his face. Yash voiced his thoughts." Ab ye Kartal kon hai? " he asks face-palming. They had had enough of everything.

" Kya apne kuch aur notice kiya? "Arjun asks her." Did you see their faces? "

"One of them wore a mask. Dusre ne nahi pehna tha."

"Do you remember his face? Can you help our sketch artist make his sketch?" Yash asks eagerly.

"Sure. There was a scar on his face running all the way from the eyes to the chin" the doctor said.

"Anything else?"

" They wore a black jackets. Uspe Eagle bana hua tha "

No sooner Arjun had heard these words, he knew he had to pay Dinesh a second visit.

As Arjun walked out of the cabin, leaving Yash with the doctor, he noticed a quite Riya standing near the window, her head down.

A tide of guilt ran over Arjun as he realised how she must be feeling. His outburst a few hours earlier did not help either. He silently walked over to her a d placed his hand on her shoulder, startling her.

As she looked in his eyes, silently begging her apologies, Arjun felt his heart break into a million pieces. None of this was her fault, yet she had to bear the biggest weight of all - guilt.

He slowly eased her into a hug and as he wrapped his arms around her, he repeated his words from earlier in his mind. "For her, he was ready to risk everything. Anything and Everything."

Dinesh had just come back to his senses when he saw the ACP again. He covered in his presence, he knew how dangerous this man could get. To his absolute relief he saw the other ACP get in too. Someone to keep Arjun in check.

As Arjun slammed his loaded gun on the table, Dinesh understood his time had come. He'd either die at the mercy of the ACP or would be strangled to death by Kartal. His life stood hanging by a thin strand between the two of them. Both equally dangerous.

Dinesh gulped when Arjun comes near him and holds him by the collar. He could see the mad rage in his eyes. It was as if he had hit something personal with him.

"Who is operating The Eagles now? And who is Kartal?"

Two questions and shit was about to get real.

"Riya please..... Please don't do this to me.... Please" A broken Arjun requested. His worst nightmare had come to life.

"I'm sorry." She whispers, just like in his haunted dreams.

A shot. A Scream. Blood. And Pain.
