Chapter 34:
Arjun couldn't understand what was going on around him. He was surrounded by darkness and couldn't see any end to it. His body ached, his limbs refused to move and his head was spinning.
He tried looking around to find some help, when he spotted a small beam of light coming from far away. Overwhelmed to see light in the dark place he followed it and he was surprised to see where it took him.
There he saw his mother, the lady for whom he had yearned over the years. The one for whose love he had waited so long. She was there clad in a white saree looking heavenly as ever.
He couldn't stop gazing at that direction when he found that she opened her arms widely and was inviting him to her. That was when all his control broke he ran into his mother's arms and wept like the baby she had left behind her. All the pain, sorrow, longing flowed down through his eyes into his mother's lap.
After gaining control over his emotions he looked up only to see the smiling face of the most beautiful lady. He couldn't help but hug her tightly again not wanting to loose her ever.
That's when he felt a slight tap on his shoulders. He averted his gaze that way and was received by another sight. There was his baba standing who without wasting any further moment enveloped him in a bear hug.
Baba: it's time beta, you've led a very painful life. It's time to end all of it. Come with us. Now onwards you'll have a beautiful life.
Mumma: yes I've so much to know about you, to tell you. Let's go son.
Arjun couldn't have asked for anything better. A better life, a beautiful life, who wouldn't wish for it. Finally his pain would be erased, he would be able to live freely without any burden, under his mother's caring shelter with his baba's support. This was the best thing that has ever happened to him.
For once he wanted to be selfish, forgetting everything he was just about to proceed towards a better life, breaking free all the shackles that had held him for long when he heard her. Her painstricken voice crying out, "Arjun I love you, please come back. Please."
His heart bled hearing her cry, and that instant he was reminded of the people who were left behind. He knew the pain of loosing someone, and now he was giving that pain to them. Arjun turned back to the source as his own eyes welled up.
Mumma: you want to go back.
Arjun: no!
Baba: then what's stopping you?
Arjun: nothing has ever happened as per I want. First time I'm getting a choice that too so big.
Mumma: you've always gotten a choice, and every time you have done what's good for others, this is the time you can think about yourself. I want to know you son.
Arjun: but, Tani... And baba's murderer... my work is not finished yet.
Baba: then go back.
Arjun: can I?
Baba: of course, we came to take you, but you still have a chance to return, but it's your choice this time. Think about it.
Arjun looked over to his baba and mother and found them inviting him and on the other side he heard Sakshi's pleas.
Sakshi along with Arman and Arnav had reached the jail. Since the Singhanias were a bunch of high profile criminals they were kept in a separate facilitated jail.
Dev: come come, nice to meet you all.
The guards who were there saluted Arman and Arnav and opened the lock for them to enter. The Singhanias greeted them with their viscious smirk.
Ragini: hello Sakshi, you know your husband is too good on bed. He's so tempting you know...
Arnav and Arman could feel anger rising in them. They balled their fist to control themselves as they could see Ragini's dirty talks were accompanied by her parents remarks. But Sakshi was in no mood to control today. She went forward and right away slapped Ragini. The slap was so hard that she fell down and blood seeped through her mouth.
Arna and Arman glanced at each other awestruck and then turned yo Sakshi who had given another shot without waiting for them to recover from the initial one.
Before Sakshi could continue her assault, Devraj came in between to stop her but Arman pushed him away. That's when r agini again started her mind game.
Ragini: oh mom, see who has come, our very own Arman. Arman you remember how you used to move around me like a lost puppy waiting for orders. How you used to pamper me, and do anything and everything for me. That is where you stand, under my foot. Same goes with that venomous brother of yours...
Arnav: ragini...
Ragini: hey ex- father-in-law you should be glad, that both your son's were behind me. Though your younger son was a tough nut but still I know how to put them under my control.
Sakshi: you have chosen a wrong path this time Ragini. How dare you hurt my Arjun. You'll pay for everything you have done to him. We'll make sure that happens.
Ragini: I didn't even complete my job still his condition is like this. Think what would have happened if I could break him that day. If I could get him completely, if I could push him into that dark zone that day. But I must say he is very tasty. You know I enjoyed every bit of him. And when I heard his pain filled voice my heart danced in joy. But bad luck I couldn't force him fully.
Sakshi this time picked her straight into the gut. Making her bend in pain and cough a little but that didn't stop her from saying.
Ragini: you know what? All of your life lies in him. So if I could torture him you all would be dead. After that day I'm sure he must be hating himself, disgusted with his body. I wanted that yo happen. I've instilled in his mind that you all hate him and now he'll slowly loose his sanity. He'll become mad, I'll make him that.
Sakshi couldn't stand and here all this. She took out her knife from her bag, and stop it swiftly across Ragini's chest. She crumbled down in pain sided by her parents. Devraj was furious this time.
Dev: what the he'll is going on? You all are police how dare you attack a prisoner that too in jail. You would suffer the consequences.
Arnav: really whom did we attack? Did you see anything?
He first asked Arman and Sakshi who promptly nodded in negative, then he asked the guards who also gave the same response. The Singhanias where shocked to see the happenings. Sakshi went forward for the last time.
Sakshi: this is only the start. You are our life lies in Arjun. And if any one tries to cause any harm to him they have to bear our wrath. Ragini you have come across wrong people this time. I'll make sure you beg for mercy.
Saying so all of them left. Upon reaching the hospital they found Sameer, Ridhi and Ayesha there. And all looked very tense.
Arnav: Sameer, you are here? Why didn't you go inside?
Sameer: I was inside, when suddenly I found Arjun a bit restless. His breathing became laboured and the machines started beeping. I immediately called the doctors. They looked worried and I heard them say he's sinking.
It took time for them to absorb anything. Arjun's condition was negotiating and now there are chances to loose him too which they couldn't afford. Hours later the doctors came out, with a grim face.
The face all the member's of the patients family dreaded. The face all of them were used to of as they had been in that position many times.
Doctor: see I won't raise your hopes, nor will I kill them. He's alive but he's dead. I don't know when or whether he'll get up or not. He can't respond but can sense what's going on. He's actually in a state of breathing dead body.
Arman: doctor what are you saying?
Doctor: he has slipped into coma.
