PART 20
"First of all, wish you a very Happy Independence Day. On this auspicious day all of us must take pledge to take our country on the path of peace, prosperity and progress and free our country from all negative tendencies. And to make this day more sacred I want to give The Bravery Award to the team, who had saved our country time to time even risking their own life. One week ago, they had save Mumbai from another terrorist attack. They had once more saved our country and it's people without even letting them know. The team which always stand against every crime. This team has made it's position in very short time. The best team of Indian Police System and proud of our country is Emergency Task Force, also known as ETF."
Commisioner Rao concluded his speech. Whole Police Academy clapped proudly, hearing the team's name. While few people clap for formalities making faces which include the jealous one.
Commisioner added
"I would like to call the Chief, ACP Sameer Damsingh Rathod and Second in command, ACP Arjun Suryakant Rawte of ETF on the stage to receive the award on behalf of their team."
Again whole academy vibrate with claps and cheers.
Smiling genuinely, Sameer look towards Arjun who was sitting with his better half holding her hands ,supporting her. While rest of his team around them, stood up from their seat in happiness.
Shree shout excitedly "Yay! We did it. Chotu! Did you hear? We did it. Hurrah." Before hugging Chotu tightly.
"Yippiee! Oh Thank you Jesus. Thank you so much." Liza exclaimed jumping up and down in her place.
But as soon their eyes land on a couple sitting ahead of them, both Shree and Liza stopped , their cheerful smile faded away while their eyes become moist.
Ayesha stepped forward and put her hand on Sameer's shoulder. Sameer look at her, she blink her eyes assuringly before gesturing towards the couple. Sameer took a deep breath and walked towards the couple. Putting his hand on Arjun's shoulder, he said softly "Rawte we are called on stage."
"But Sam. Main yahan... " Arjun tried to speak but get interrupted in between by a sweet voice.
"No. I'm perfectly fine. You go."
Arjun again tried to reject, saying "Lekin Riya meri baat..." But again Riya cut him off, saying. "Please. You go. Mere liye."
Arjun sigh defeatedly and stood up from his chair. He walked towards stage with Sameer but not before giving Shree, Chotu and Ayesha a meaningful yet warning look, to which they nod assuringly.
After greetings, commisioner give them the award and passed the microphone. Arjun gesture Sameer to speak to which Sameer nod and said.
"Thank you so much everyone. I would like to thank you too Commisioner Sir, thanks for your always support and trust. I wants to thank my whole ETF team, as without their constant efforts and hard works we can't reach this position. Though it's our duty, but our team has faced lots of problems and losses." Sameer look at Riya who looked away with her moist eyes. He glanced beside him at Arjun and notice his stiff tensed body. He added after a pause, "This time too but like always we face them together, bravely. Though few loss had stirred our heart but we again stepped ahead. Thank you all and Happy Independence day.
Jai Hind."
After his speech everyone stood up and putting hand on their forehead in salute, as they sung National Anthem to finish the ceremony.
Riya turned silently and walked away from the group towards a silent empty corner of the hall.
Arjun again look at the group but got shocked on finding only Liza, Sakshi and few ladies were talking while Riya wasn't there anymore. He started to get panicked and started searching for Riya through his eyes, worriedly while the people he was talking was long forgotten.
Some one said from behind "On your left, near the stage." Arjun turn back and saw Sameer smiling at him while his eyes were glistening. "Mujhe kya dekh raha hai. Teri nazare jise dhoond rahi hain woh tere left mei stage ke pas hai. Rawte."
Saying so Sameer left still smilingly. While Arjun saw that Riya was exactly sitting on his (Arjun) left near stage, which means Sameer knew what he was searching. He look at Sameer who winked at him which means two things One is that 'I know you very well.' while other said 'Go. Have your time. I'm here.'
Thanking Sameer in his mind, Arjun walked towards Riya and put his hand on her shoulder.
Riya jerked away as soon as she felt someone's hand on her shoulder and turned to see who it is, with panic look. But soon she launched herself in the arms of the same person, as she saw Arjun there, while start sobbing on negative thoughts she had just now.
Arjun hugged her back tightly with one hand while stroke her hair with other, as he knew she feared of crowd of unknown peoples especially males from that incident. Immediately, he messaged Sameer about his and Riya's leave And took her towards parking. They left in Arjun's car towards their (that was once Arjun's) house. During drive both didn't talk anything but Arjun had his hold on Riya's hand, which is a silent support while Riya had lean her head on window with closed eyes.
When they reached home, Arjun turn to his left and found her asleep already. Arjun came out slowly and opened her side door after holding her face with his hands and unbuckled her seat belt and pick her up in his arms. Riya snuggled up to his chest still in sleep. Arjun smiled and walked inside the house while Riya sleeping in his arms. After putting her on bed, he stood up and go to washroom to fresh up.
After freshing up, Arjun came back to towards Riya to check on her and found her still sleeping. Thinking that it's good for her as she hardly sleeps due to her nightmares. He went towards kitchen to make his tea. When he was about to take sip of his tea he heard a scream and rushed inside the bedroom.
There he saw his Riya is twisting and turning on bed and sweating badly, still in sleep, while mumbling incoherent words.
"Please... No... Please nahi.. Bachao.. Help.. Mujhe ahh.. Arjun sir kahan ho?? Ap.. ahh.. Please.. Arjunnn.."
Keeping his cup on side table, Arjun sit on bed and hugged her tightly.
"Riyu. I'm here. Please relax. Shh. I'm here. Look your Arjun is here na. Nothing will happen. Shh. Calm down. hmmm." Arjun whispered in her ear while stroking her back to make her calm. Soon Riya's mumbling stop and she get back to her sleep. Arjun make her lay comfortably while he also sit beside her, stroking her head, understanding that her nightmare haunt her in his absence more. Small smile appear on his lips as Riya snuggled onto his lap like she knows her Arjun is there with her.
But when he thought about how they ended up like this, his smile dropped while his eyes filled with raging fire.
Still he remembered, how he had found his Riya, he felt as if something clawed at his heart brutally, when that sight of Riya appear infront of him. He remembered how he is trying to brought his old happy and fearless Riya, who had beaten her fear of shooting criminal to tackle Sikander and his gang, indirectly for him (Arjun). He remembered everything.
One week ago
The sight infront of him, made Arjun froze. As he look at the tied-up unconcious figure of Riya, on which-look-like a metallic table, lying. But what made his heart stopped and brain freezed was her naked state and her whipped bleeding body, while a naked man was on her, trying to rape her, forcefully.
But the moment, he heard the sound of foot steps coming from outside break his frozen state and he shouted while running "RIYAAA!!" But was it too late.
While running, Arjun pulled off his shirt.
Reaching beside her, he pushed the man off of her, after giving him hard punch of his face. Arjun hurriedly put the shirt on Riya, covering her half, before trying to untie her wrists and legs as well as trying to wake her up. While the goons were helping their boss. As Arjun hurriedly untie her he heard loud footsteps followed by "SIR!!" of Shree.
Arjun stood up straight, hiding Riya from her shoulder to her mid thigh and raised his palm indicating Shree to stop.
"Sir!!" Shree said, as he came inside the godown from a window and saw Arjun standing infront of a lying figure. But when he tried to step towards him, Arjun stopped him, which confused Shree. He turn to look at his left, he saw Ayesha too stopped beside him with same confused expression. Shree again look at Arjun's back, but got stunned as his eyes land on the lying figure's pink painted toe nails and remembered the love of pink nail paint of his best friend, 'Riya!?' he thought, but next second his eyes widen with horror and shock as he saw the bare female shoulder and legs. 'Oh no! Ri..' Gulping and gathering his courage, he turn and whispered to Ayesha.
"Go help, Arjun Sir. Riya isn't conscious, he need help."
"But Shree..." Ayesha tried to speak. But Shree cut her in mid.
"I can't go there. You can. Come on go Ayesha." Shree said in low voice while pushing Ayesha.
Reluctantly, Ayesha stepped ahead but got shocked on seeing Riya's state and rushed to help Arjun. Goons tried to came forward but Shree shot one while running towards other and fighting with them.
Arjun with the help of Ayesha, he made Riya, who was still unconscious, wear his shirt, before making her sit properly with his support, to protect her from other's eyes. While Ayesha run to help Shree.
But soon they were circled by the goons, Arjun saw that and thought to help them when a hand on his shoulder stopped him. He turn and saw Sameer, who gesture him towards Riya, before rushing to help Shree , Ayesha. Chotu too came to help them.
Sameer shout while kicking the goon's boss "Rawte, Riya need medical help. Liza and Sakshi must be standing outside for you. We all will sort this here. You go."
Hurriedly, Arjun nod as he rushed outside, before picking Riya up in his arm.
'I still remembered Riyu , everything. But I had also made promise to myself to bring my Riya back. And I'll do it at any cost, it's my promise.'
Arjun thought looking at Riya who is sleeping peacefully now. Soon he too drifted into a slumber after pulling sleeping Riya in his arms.
