My dear Avantika,

What nonsense is this, that you are planning to leave the forum because someone has paid you the left handed compliment of copying your work wholesale? Why on earth should YOU retreat and leave?

I had exactly the same thing happen to me in the days when I was doing episode analyses in the Arjun forum, I did about a dozen before I realised that 90% of the interest here was for Shaleen and not for his detective abilities!😉 Then I quit.

One fine day, I found, on being alerted to it by a young reader of mine. that a whole post of mine had been reproduced by one, if I remember correctly, Honeybee, in Forum 32. I reported it, the offending post was removed and I was advised to lock my posts (I have forgotten how but I am sure the mods will tell you) so that it could not be copied, and thus could not be plagiarised. And that is what I did. I never had that problem again as long as I was in this forum.

Surely you can stop all this raging, that must be doing your BP no good, and do the same as I did?

Cheer up, kiddo, and buck up. I am now in very poor shape, with a knee replacement in the offing and a knee that threatens to give up any time without warning, but I could not let this pass. You are one of my favorite girls and I would not want you to retreat and go away, but stay at fight it out for this one, and make sure the offence is not repeated. You will be helping yourself, and others too, for once a plagiarist gets away scot free, she/he will become a serial offender.

You will do that, won't you, Avantika? That is my girl!!🤗

Well this is really pathetic

OMG each and every word is copied

This keeps happening again and again

I think it's high time IF look into this

I know you both are hurt and angry

Which you should be after all this nuisance

This is really terrible

I hope this issue is sorted soon

Though I not in to writing... I hate this kind of cheap act..it's against own moral and consciousness..😔

Look at the heights...she posted them in pokemon forum and what not..so nobody gonna notice it...

this way she is mocking true writers.. report all the stories...

Hello Aunty.. It's soo good to see you here..

I hope you feel better than you did, the last time we wrote to each other..

I do remember your write-up that was stolen.. A requiem for riya mukherjee..

Oh yes, this forum was once full of admirers and people full of themselves who either failed or deliberately did not want to respect other's sentiments, opinions and creativity. I have been such a fool to think that things could have improved..

I understand, I shouldn't.. But this is just so disheartening to see.. And unfortunately, it's the stealer who gets away, and we have to bear the brunt of going through these tedious procedures..

She has not only stolen works from IF and posted them elsewhere, but also unabashedly advertising those at Twitter, and Instagram claiming those as hers, and enjoys a massive fan-following.. (I am going to fight against those too..)

I understand the consequences of posting our creations on the Web.. But perhaps, something can be done to secure this portal - So we wouldn't have to go through this nuisance, and heartbreak..

As for locking the thread, I don't think they can lock an active FF thread - coz that would mean restricting access to it..

But I shall take it up with the Mods.. For now, I'm just removing everything from here while I can..

I don't intend to run.. Coz I love my babies, and writing - Even if they're far from being perfect, and upto the mark of professional authors out there..

It's a hobby I've developed and found an escape in..

So, no.. I may not leave the forum coz that would mean losing all of you, people I've met, and friends I've made over the years..

But this is so disheartening.. And I really don't think I will be able to write for a really long time..

Both of us, in fact have been utterly disappointed and grumpy ever since we found out..

And you know what's the worst bit - We know who it is.. And yet, I believe IF wouldn't take action against the concerned imposter..

Anyhow.. I don't intend to give up.. I guess, the night did change the way I'm thinking now..

Unfortunately, Indiaforums does not have a legal department, that would support its members, and fight on our behalf..

I guess, the only way is to quit writing here!!

No, not lock the thread, only the lead article, That can be done, and I did it from then on till I was in this forum. Then no one can copy the piece electronically, using the Cntrl C, and then reproduce it elsewhere. Try it, it was very easy when I did it, and no, it was not for the Requiem for Riya, it was a full length episode analysis, I do not remember for which case.

As for her Twitter advts. for copied work, can you not put up reply tweets warning that this is plagiarised work? I agree that it is very tiresome and it is extremely unfair that all this burden should fall on you, but it is always the same when you set out to expose and punish a thief. So do try, and let me know how it goes.

No, my dear, I am not better, but, as I had noted in my first message, worse over the last 6 weeks. The first operation has not worked, and I shall have to go in for a full knee replacement come end May, when my brother can come in from the US and look after our mother while I am hospitalised. I am so afraid of the physiotherapy that will follow, for 3 months or more. It is going to be very painful.Oh well.
