Chapter 1
One evening Arjun was getting ready to go for an urgent case when he heard some voices and the excited voices of his parents. He realized that there are some guests. But Arjun didn't have time to meet the guests so he chose the back door to leave the house.
ETF team was driving back from the murder scene to the office.
"Team, a crime journalist from Mumbai News is going to join our team" said Rathore while driving the car
"Why do we need a journalist Sameer?" Asked Arjun a little annoyed
"Don't be so annoyed. She will be helpful. As a crime journalist she has the authority to access the informations about all the murder cases that has been covered by Mumbai News and she has a team of workers who has direct access to so many petty criminals"
"But ETF has the authority to get all information from any press if we want and we even have Shree to retrieve the informations" said Arjun
"Yes but it will take some time for us to do that and I want to reduce Shree's work load man. He is not even sleeping now a days" said Rathore
Listening to this Shree said looking up as if talking to god "Bless Rathore sir and that journalist"
Liza slapped his hand softly but Arjun was still not very convinced
"Hmm.. What's her name?" Asked Arjun but didn't hear Rathore's reply as he got a call from his mom.
"Haan mom tell me. Oh ok ok, I heard the voice but didn't have time to meet the person.That's why I left through the back door. Okay mom will talk later, we reached office. I will be late so don't wait for me" said Arjun and cut the call
Arjun reached his house only next morning. He went to the kitchen straight and sat on the chair of small breakfast table. He rested his head on the table and said "Mom, a strong tea please. I have a bad head ache"
Arjun's mom came to him and put her hand on his forehead "Then take rest today. Don't go to the office. I will tell Sameer" said Mrs Rawte
"No mom, it's an important case. We need to solve it soon. Can you prepare tea and breakfast. I will quickly take shower and will come down" said Arjun and ran upstairs without waiting for his mom's reply
"No Arjun, come back here. Let me tell you something. Oh god, now I have to run after him" said Mrs Rawte and walked fast
Arjun saw that his bedroom door is closed. He didn't think twice before opening the door. He went inside but was surprised to see a pink dupatta with matching ear rings and silver color bangles. He was about to check the room wondering who is inside when he got the answer right in front of his eyes. A beautiful girl is just coming out from his bathroom after a shower. Arjun was shocked to see this special appearance in his room that too in this state. Her hair is still wet and her face still has some water drops. She is carrying bottles of body wash and shampoo in her hand. She was wearing a long light blue kurti and pink tights. Her strong fragrance is snatching all his senses.
The girl's face became crimson red when she saw Arjun and she muttered a "Hi" to come out from that awkward situation.
Arjun recovered fast and said "You are Tulip Girl.. I mean Sakshi right? Why are you in my bedroom?" Asked Arjun not hiding his surprise .That minute Mrs Rawte came and said "Sorry Sakshi beta, I was about to tell him not to come here but he just ran from there. Arjun you come with me. Let her get ready" saying this she closed the door dragging Arjun
"Mom, can you please explain why Sakshi is in my room" asked Arjun
"That's because.. Wait, did you say Sakshi? You know her?" Asked Mrs Rawte
"Ya we met once in Petals. That doesn't matter but why is she here?" Asked Arjun again
"She was the guest last night. You would have seen her if you had the patience to eat dinner last night" said Mrs Rawte
"Leave all that mom.. I am asking you again, why is she here in my bedroom. You know I don't like people use my room. Especially a girl. Why isn't she using this room?" Asked Arjun pointing towards the other bedroom opposite to his room
"Arjun calm down. That room's shower is not working and girls need privacy so I couldn't ask her to use the non attached one downstairs. Servants are always running around there. Dad was using our bathroom and she has to leave early for work. So I asked her to use yours" said Mrs Rawte
"Ok ok fine . I understand. When will she go? Who is she? Why is she here?" Asked Arjun
"Too many questions. She will be staying here for sometime. You know Anand uncle right, who lives in Delhi ? She is his daughter. Two months back she got transferred to Mumbai. So when your dad came to know about this he asked her to stay here as it's always safer than any hostel" said Mrs Rawte
"Oh ok. But mom, you are telling me this now? Why didn't you tell me earlier?" Asked Arjun
"As if you are always at home waiting for me to talk to you. I don't even see you now a days to say these things" said an annoyed Mrs Rawte and Arjun couldn't argue on that
"So where does she work?" Asked Arjun
"That's the best thing Arjun. She will be working for ETF. She is a journalist" said Mrs Rawte and Arjun got second shock of the day
"What? Oh my god" said Arjun
"What's wrong Arjun?" Asked Mrs Rawte
"Nothing mom. Just wondering if it's a good idea for co workers to stay under same roof" he paused for a second and then continued" But that's ok, I agree that it's safe here" said Arjun and walked away
Sakshi's face is still red from that meeting. She actually felt shy when he was checking her out like that. Normally she gets angry when men look at her like that. But instead of feeling anger this time she felt shy under his gaze. "so this is the same Arjun " thought Sakshi and smiled. From her birthday onwards she always used to think about him. She admire him for what he did that day. She looked around in his room. It's a pretty luxurious room with a big bed, a wall mounted flat tv, music system, a balcony and a walk in closet. On the wall behind his bed there are so many pictures of him. She didn't notice anything when she came inside in a hurry.
She went downstairs when she got ready. Arjun was reading a news paper and when he saw her he stood up and went back to his room. The whole room and his bathroom is filled with a lavender fragrance. He breathed deeply and remembered Sakshi's freshly showered look. He has never seen a girl in this situation.
Downstairs Sakshi and Mrs Rawte were having breakfast
"So Sakshi , tell me. How do you and Arjun know each other?" Asked Mrs Rawte and Sakshi told her what happened
"Wow, he gifted you flowers? Where did he learn that from? that was so nice of him. Anyways you better finish breakfast fast else Arjun won't wait for you if you are late.He is an akdu sometimes" said Mrs Rawte and Sakshi smiled
Arjun came down and Mrs Rawte asked him to take Sakshi as well. He hesitated for a while but then nodded.
Arjun and Sakshi were on the way to office. Arjun really wants to talk to her to clear the awkward feeling he had. But Sakshi said first (Of course ;-) )
"Thank you for those flowers on my birthday" said Sakshi
"You are welcome. By the way how was your birthday?" Asked Arjun relieved for getting a topic
"It was fine. I don't have much friends here. But I cut the cake and cooked a luxurious dinner for me" said Sakshi with a smile.
"I am sorry about what happened in the morning. I would never have come inside if I knew you were there" said Arjun frankly
"That's alright Arjun. You don't have to feel sorry. It's your room after all" said Sakhi genuinely
Rest of the journey was silent. They reached office soon and Arjun took her inside the office
"Sameer is the chief here, he will let you join. I will take you to his cabin, come" said Arjun and walked to the chief's cabin closely followed by Sakshi
Rathore was sitting in his cabin when he saw Arjun coming to his cabin closely followed by a beautiful girl
"Wow that's a rare treat.. Arjun with a girl?" Thought Sameer
They both came inside and Arjun gestured to her to introduce herself
"Hi Sameer, I am Sakshi Anand" said Sakshi offering her hands for a friendly shake hand
Sameer shook her hand with a smile
"Oh you are the journalist. Welcome Sakshi..Hope you are ready to work with us. Will explain you the work details soon. You can join the team in that conference room now. We will be there soon" said Sameer and Sakshi left
"Where did you pick her from? " Asked a surprised Sameer
" You won't believe this Sameer . I picked her from my own home" said Arjun and told him what happened in the morning. Sameer laughed hard listening to that
"You deserve this Arjun. You were so against a journalist joining the team. Now see what happened. Not only she came to office but also to your home and even to your bedroom. I can't believe aunty let her use your room knowing you" laughed Sameer again and Arjun also chuckled remembering the morning incident.
"For your information Sameer, she is the Tulip girl" said Arjun
"Ohhh no wonder she was getting all legal with proofs that day, it's type journalist style. Brilliant girl by the way" said Rathore and chuckled
Sakshi liked everyone in the team. She felt that they all share a special bond. She became friends with them fast. She saw a photo frame on the top of the cupboard and approached near to get a closer look. It was a picture of this team. Aisha, Shree, Chotu and Liza were holding their arms and jumping. The sea and sunset in the background. They all are in air except for Rathore who is sitting cross legged behind the jumping group with smile on his face. Sakshi was amazed to see this picture. It clearly shows their bond and attachment to each other.
"Wow beautiful photo" said Sakshi
Aisha replied
"Arjun sir took that. There are so many other photos as well. If we get an off we always go to beach and Arjun sir will take our picture"
"We are his models now" said Liza with a big smile. They all talked like that for sometime to make Sakshi comfortable and then they explained the way ETF work. It was a little hectic for Sakshi as she is experiencing this work style for the first time.
It was past mid night when Sakshi finished her work and soon they both left for home. Arjun's parents were already slept. Once they entered the living room it was really dark inside. Sakshi felt uncomfortable as it's an unknown place . So she was walking so close to Arjun and that's when one strong hand held her hand and went up taking her along.
Arjun felt that she is scared in dark and its difficult if it's an unfamiliar place. So he held her hand and took her with him. He went to her room first, switched on the light for her and left the room muttering a good night
Sakshi smiled at his actions and closed the door. She changed to her night dress and lay on the bed and soon fallen asleep.
Sakshi's lavender scent was still lingering in Arjun's room. He was having strange sensation each time he smelled the fragrance. He changed his clothes and went to bed and that's when he saw one bangle on his bed. "She must have forgotten to take this after her bath" thought Arjun remembering the morning incident. He took the bangle and it made a jingling sound. He shook it one more time and smiled to himself when it made that jingling sound again. He took it and kept it in his cupboard. He walked towards the bed, a smile still on his lips unknown to himself.
