CHAPTER 5:

Everything is red. Hazy red. In midst of this he heard Sameer's voice sometimes. He will read for him. Or sometimes will discuss a case. But it isn't the voice he wants to hear. Where is she? Where is his Sakshi? Why isn't she with Sameer?

What time is it? Is it day or night? Arjun lost the track of time long ago. Now only thing he can do is waiting.

It's been seven days since that incident happened. Sameer was in his cabin doing some work when his phone rang. It was from Sakshi. He smiled and picked up the call. But what he heard from other side made his blood turned ice. Sikandar's men had tracked her and now they are in her house. He rushed to call Arjun but stopped. Sakshi had called him not Arjun. She didn't want Arjun to be in danger. So, he talked to the police and went to her house. He was shocked when he saw Arjun there but then may be somehow Arjun sensed that Sakshi is in danger. They arrested Sikandar's men and took Arjun to the hospital. The doctor declared that he has gone to comatose. Sakshi had to go back to Delhi. Since then he is dealing with Arjun. He didn't tell Arjun's parents as they were in London for some work. He was hoping Arjun will wake up before their arrival. No he is not alone. Ayesha had been a great moral support. And that made him realize his feelings for Ayesha.

He was sitting in a bench outside Arjun's cabin and was in deep thought when a pat in shoulder brought him out of his trance. It was the doctor who was in charge of Arjun. Sameer got up immeditely.

Sameer: Doctor.. any good news?

Doctor put out his glass and smiled.

Doctor: Yes. He has start responsing. Judging the progress he will be in full snese by tomorrow morning.

Sameer couldn't believe his ears. His eyes filled up with tears.

Sameer: I don't know what to say doctor. Apne mere dost ka jan bachya hai. Thank you. Thank you so much.

Doctor patted his shoulder and went away. He called Ayesha and gave her the good news.

He went to the terrace and kept staring at the stars. He wouldn't be able to sleep tonight. How can he when every second he will be waiting for his bestie to open his eyes.

Some bonds go deeper than blood bonds. Just like their bond. They are not related by blood. But they are related by the bond of mind.

Suddenly he felt a familiar presence behind him. Being amazed he turned around to find Ayesha standing there. He raised his eyebrows when Ayesha just shrugged.

Sameer: Ayesha.. tum? Iss waqt?

Ayesha came to stand beside him.

Ayesha: Bas aa gyi..

Sameer: Par aab main sone javunga.. To tum..

Ayesha looked directly at him and smiled.

Ayesha: Jhoot. Sir itna to main apko janti hoom. Aaj rat aap ankhe bandh bhi nehi kar pyenge.

Sameer smiled and ran his hand through his hair. They stared at those twinkling star for a long time.

Slowly very slowly he opened his eyes. It felt as if someone had put tons of weight in his eyes. He tried again and this time he succeded. When he fully opened his eyes he found Sameer staring down at his face. He tried to smile but it didn't come easily. He found it kinda hard to move his muscles. As if sensing his problem the doctor spoke up.

Doctor: It will take time. But eventually everything will be fine. Aap pechle sat din tak coma mein the.

Sameer nodded and smiled.

Sameer: Abbe sale jaldi thik ho ja. Phir teri khabar leti hoom. Tune mujhe ek mini heart attack de dya tha.

Tears formed into his best friends eyes. Arjun realized that he really got scared. He tried to hug him. But couldn't. Realizing his intentions Sameer bend down and hugged him tightly.

After a few minutes they pulled away from the hug.

Arjun: Sam yeh Sakshi kaha hai? Tune usse batya nehi?

Sameer's face became sober. He and Ayesha exchanged wary glances.

Sameer: Woh Arjun bat yeh hai ki Sakshi yaha nehi hi. Woh Delhi pe hai. Court ki hearing ki date aa gyi thi to usse jana pada.

Arjun nodded. Though he was sad but then Sakshi took the right decision. She took the right decision. Absence of the main witness will create great problem. It even can dismiss the case.

But no matter how hard he tried to pacify his mind it really didn't help. He sighed..

It's been four days since he gained consciousness. But no news of Sakshi. She didn't even call. He asked Sameer about it. But each time brought up the topic he changed it. Is she angry with him? After all he couldn't save her. But he tried his best to save her. Does she hate him now?

His rational mind dismissed the thought. But in one corner the thought stayed intact. It bugged him day and night. Moreover Sameer's silence made him wilder.

The day of his release date came at last. The doctors gave the green signal. Now they can take him home. But what's the point of going that empty house? Raw pain and anguish pierced his heart.

Sameer and Ayesha came to take him home. Home.. it wasn't a home anymore. Rather a building made of bricks. His mind revolt against stepping in there but he couldn't. He has so many memories of Sakshi there. In that same house they first met. Their love reciprocate and get it's destination in that same house. How can he stay away from her memories? So, when Sameer and Ayesha drove him there he stayed quite.

He got down from the car and bid them good bye. They had an important work so they had to go. The sun was going down leaving its golden aura everywhere. Gentle breeze was blowing. He sighed and proceeded towards the house. But he was not ready for the scenery that greeted him. Sitting in the front porch of the house was sitting Sakshi. In his sun yellow kurti with geans and floral dupatta. Her hair was flowing in the air. Same get up as she came here first. The only change is the red vermillion in her parting and mangalsutra in her neck.

Arjun couldn't believe his eyes. As if in a trance he step forwards. Seeing him Sakshi got up and smiled. The little step broke into run and soon he found himself tangled with his lovely wife. He smelled her toxic smell. Yes, she was real. He laughed out loud.

After a few minutes he broke from the hug. He looked straight at her eyes which were shining with unselfish love.

Arjun: I love you Sakshi.

Sakshi smiled.

Sakshi: I love you too Arjun.

Arjun laughed again.

Arjun: Par Sakshi tum to Delhi mein thi na?

Sakshi nodded negetively.

Sakshi: Tumhe iss halat mein chodkar kaise jati? Maine apne lawyar se kehkar special arrangement karwaya tha. Maine apni bayan Skype pe live dya hai. And Sikandar aur usske admioko unke kye ki saja mil chuki hai.

Arjun: To phir tum mujhse milne kiyu nehi gyi?

Sakshi: Main to wahi thi Arjun. Darwaje se har pal tumhe dekhti thi. Par himmat nehi juta payi. Sirf aur sirf mere lye tumhe itna sab kuch sehna pada. Aaj jab finally unlogoko saja mil chuka hai to mere dil se woh bojh bhi hat gya hai.

She hugged him again. Just then Arjun's phone buzzed. Without breaking the hug he opened his phone and found a message from Sameer.

Enjoy the surprise Mr. Rawte. Meri dost ki khatir tujhe do din ki chutti de raha hoom. But after that I want you back in office. Aab samjha ya tarike se samjhavuum?

Arjun smiled. He got the most precious treasure of his life. And he will never let a scratch fall on her.
