CHAPTER 15

At Sakshi's house

Arjun had come to pick up Sakshi and drop her to the airport... he was not going cause he was going to see off Sameer.. woh kuch' kaam tha (ya right)

He waited at the SUV to see a visibly excited and happy Sakshi running to the SUV... he felt happy too!

"Sam ka phone hoga... lagta hai ki Ayesha ko propose kar hi diya! Good job Sakshi!" he thought.

Sakshi immeditaely sat in the car and put the phone on speaker, she knew that Arjun would be excited too... she signaled with her eyes for him to listen to her phone, it went like this:

Ayesha: "Sameer yeh sab.."

Sameer: (chuckling) "ki kya zaroorat hai? I want to propose you...aur haan tumhari sautan ki begair!"

Ayesha : (shocked) "Sautan!!!"

Sameer : "Haan, he word Damn It!"

(Arakshi smiled at this comment)

Sameer : "So Miss. Ayesha Kapoor...

Tum kya ho yeh pata nahi...

Kabhi darrati ho toh kabhi hasaati ho ...

Kabhi tumse impressed... aur kabhi tumhare rash decisions ke liye stressed!

Tum bohot taakatwar ho... jo mujhe acha lagta hai

Abhi tak main shayad intezaar karta tha ki pyaar ho pyaar ho... par koi mila nahi...

tum police officer ho par andar hi andar chor nikli - mera dil le li...

And Ayesha I look up to you many a times...

Agar log mujhe jorru ka ghulam bhi kahi mujhe acha hi lagega...

Kyunki seva karna sirf patni ka kaam nahi hota

I love you Ayesha... I love you ...

Will you marry me?

Will you be my wife and change my life?

(phone silent for sometime, Arjun showed a worried look, Sakshi was holding her breath in anticipation)

Sameer : (chuckled) To be Mrs. Rathore, yes I will' bolne ka plan hai ki nahi!"

Ayesha : (sweetly annoyed)"Nahi... tumhari maa ko batao ki uski bahu ko humesha ko yeh' shocks na dete rahe!"

Sameer : (laughed)"Don't worry... tumhari saas ko tumhari yeh' ji ke achcha intezaam hoga!"

(after that phone line got cut - obviously, Sameer didn't want her to hear his and Ayesha's poppysmic! - the sound created by smacking of lips)

Arjun was very happy that at last his Sam found a girl for himself.. and he managed to propose as well!!!!

He went back the memory lane when he had once proposed Roshni... all the words were blurred... but yes he remembered her smiling face.. it was beautiful... as if he just saw her yesterday

He snapped out when he heard a sob...

He turned aside to see precious tears falling down from Sakshi's face.. she was trying to control her tears... her eyes were glistening like diamonds...

"Yeh ro kyun rahi hai?" he thought when suddenly his concerned face was replaced by a frown

"Kya Sakshi kisi aur se pyaar karti thi... uska yaad aa gaya kya.. kya..." he thought... his heart beat seemed to slow down at that...

"Ky...ky...kya.. woh abhi bhi usse pyaar karti hai?" his jaws clenched at that thought.. he didn't want Sakshi to love someone else...

"Arjun... kya soch raha hai? Tere zindagi main ek Roshni tha.. uski zindagi main bhi koi ho sakta hai..."

"Kaun?" His mind became disturbed after this... he wanted to wipe her tears but his hands were frozen... he wanted to console her but couldn't... somehow he was used to the thought of her being single and taunting him time and again... the thing that she could have been someone else's shook him up badly...

He watched her as her delicate hands were working their way on her temples... "shayad sar dard ho raha hai..."

But his mind was busy with one thought... she might have been someone's love...

"Has she been pampered... looked after... consoled... hugged, did she have dreams of marrying someone else... kaun ho sakta hai... koi officer bhi ho sakta hai... par kaun hai uski layak... ya phir shayad koi aur reporter... par unloge ke paas waqt hi nahi hota..."

He looked at her red cheeks and pink lips and one thought crossed his mind "Has she been caressed by someone else?" Gazing at her pouty pink lips "Did someone ever claim her lips... did she kiss..."

"Arjun...KYA soch raha hai... itni affect kyun ho raha hai... ho sakta that she loved someone..." his mind raged but somewhere he didn't like the fact that she still remembered that someone... that in her present whenever such beautiful incidents occur... she still remembers that someone

"Jo beet gaya so beet gaya... she should move on...she should forget him" he thought... trying to calm his confused mind

"Have you been able to forget Roshni? Khud advice dete main koi kasar nahi chod raha hai... have u moved on? Move on with whom? Kaun usse phirse pyaar karega? Kaun usse samjhega?" his mind sarcastically posed

"Jab tu Roshni ko nahi bhool saka.. don't expect her to move on... dialogue dena aasaan hota hai.. par uss baat ko implement karna.. utna hi mushkil... aur tu uska kya hota hai yeh sab sochne ke liye?" his mind ranted further, it was not that being with another person hit him... it was that she had not told him yet... it was that she remembered that guy still...

He couldn't take the internal fight anymore, his hands clenched the steering wheel, he gritted his teeth and asked in one shot "Kaun tha woh?"

Sakshi snapped out "Kuch kaha Arjun?" she quickly wiped her tears

"Tumhe ek baar main sunai nahi deta kya?" he glared back...

"Isse kya hua.. ab maine kya kiya..." Sakshi thought perplexed..

"Ar..arj..Arjun" she said softly and he gave his angriest glare on her "Ag.. aga.. agar airport nahi drop karna hai ya phir meri presence se koi issue hai it's fine I will go on my own..." saying so she quickly removed her seatbelt and was about to leave when she felt an iron grip on her arm...

Sakshi looked up quizzically, she couldn't understand what's wrong with him...

Arjun got even more frustrated.. he gripped her arm hard and shook her... ignoring the tears falling down her pretty face "Kaun tha woh? Jiske liye tum abhi roh rahi thi?"

Sakshi winced at his tight grip... "Bhai - Samrat bhai..."

Arjun stared at her "Sir?" is all he managed to say

"Haan... aise hi proposal ke liye maine mummum ko dhakka dia tha.. life and death ki promise... jab woh aise hi propose kar rahi thi tab main kamre se chupke usse dekh rahi thi un dono ko... kitni pyaari jodi thi... bhai ne khud nahi propose kiya kyunki he loved mummum too much..." she breathed for a second then continued

"ek officer ke saath zindagi guzaarna mushkil tha, ghalat thi yeh baat...agar marna ho toh aam aadmi bhi waise hi marskata hai, heart attack, cancer, car accident... "

"par usse badi cheez... main aur ashi bhai ki responsibility the... woh mummum ko bandh ke nahi rakhna chahta tha... aur mummum usse shaadi karke bhai ke upar aur responsibility nahi daalna chah rahi thi..." she smiled as she recollected the funny explanation of her mummum - yes it was comical how both thought on the same lines...

"phir maine samjhaya ke responsibility nahi... woh humaari zindagi ka angsh hai... hum humaari angsh ko humse judaa nahi kar sakte... toh usko kaise juda kare... aur woh bhi maani... aur mummum ne kahi ki hum unke liye responsibility nahi the...toh bas... phir proposal ho gaya"

"that was the best day of my life... like today... haan thoda dukh hai ki Sam bhai jaa rahe hain par utni hi khushi kyunki apne humsafar banake jaa raha hai..." she completed... her tears streaming down her cheeks... never stopping for a second as she was speaking to him.

Today Arjun felt like a pure, classified, distinguished and certified idiot!

"WTH! Main kya se kya soch raha tha! God... i promised her to not take her back to the memory lane... and what did i do today... waha par hi dhakel diya... phirse ro rahi hai..." he shook his head in disappointment with his actions to find her smiling...

"Sakshi am sorr.."

"Bolne ke zaroorat nahi hai Arjun... mujhe yeh pal milke khushi milti hai... bas yehi toh yaadein hain jo mummum chahegi main soch kar khush rahoon.. agar uski har yaad main bas roti rahoon toh in yaadon ka kya fayda... kabhi kabar baatein bhool jaatein hai par yaadein.. yaad aati hai..." she said softly...

Her arm was crying out in pain in Arjun's grip... she had worn an armband.. it had some stones and a small taaveez... she wouldn't have put it on... but she was going to miss her Sam bhai.. when her bhai was alive she used to wear this...

Arjun had still painfully gripped her arm... after some time he felt the skin underneath his palm warm..

"Arjun.. mera haath..." she said quietly

"Oh sorry.." he smacked himself mentally... but when he removed his hand he so wanted to slap himself... in his grip the stones and taaveez pierced into her delicate skin...apart from the red-blue marks of his fingers on her arm.. blood was oozing out...

"WTH, Arjun u r so much a genius!" he thought.. worried... angry...upset and heavily confused!

"Tum pehle nahi bata sakti thi ki tumhara hath dukh raha hai!" he shouted at her - which brought more tears to her face

"Oh hell no! Arjun tujhe toh main Guiness record doonga - how to hurt the one you l.." his mind left that statement incomplete.

"Woh..woh" she stammered, totally puzzled by his behaviour.

Arjun went forward and gently held her soft arm in his hand... his thumb slowly caressing where it bled... his other hand's fingers softly wiping her tears away...his hand lingered on her cheek...

Sakshi's heart stopped... his worried look... his touch driving her crazy...

"kya usse khabar bhi hai what he's doing to me? Ek waqt main sabse zyaada dard deta hai aur dusre pal main hi sabse zyaada sukoon." her mind raced as she looked at the tormentor of her heart, her eyes closing at his gentle touch...

While he, ignoring the sparks that were flying in and out of his body, quickly removed his handkerchief and put some water on it and gently put it on the bruised area of her arm... rubbing softly as if he wanted to correct his mistake...he removed the arm band and kept it in his pocket...

"Sakshi... I didn't mean it... mera matlab.. main tumse.." Arjun said when Sakshi's phone beeped

"Airport aaja sis! Surprise toh pata hi hai! - Sam bhai" it read...

Not bothering to listen of the rest of the sentence she asked Arjun to drive to the airport... he noticed that she draped her scarf like a dupatta on her right side... so the bruise was hidden...

"Jab bhi main zindagi main kissi ka madat karna chahoon toh main usko hi sabse zyaada dard kyun deta hoon? Pehle Papa.. fir Roshni... fir Sam... ab Sakshi" he sighed as he saw Sakshi staring outside, she was upset and he knew that...

she was unaware of the turmoil in his heart... and he, unaware of the storm in hers.. the heart that he had refused to think about had started beating... again

Poor Sakshi blood was oozing from her wound.

But then he lovingly wiped out the blood and tears.😳
