CHAPTER 12
Arjun snapped out thanks to the flashing light of his phone, still looking the photo...
Sakshi was still catching his hand, but now silent tears were coming out...
"Sakshi Samrat sir ki behen hai! Kaise..." his thoughts were haywire when he understood that everything about her pointed out to one thing...then one dialogue hit his head like a rod which clearly stated who she was...
"Tum meri zindagi ka rukh nahi badal sakhte ACP Arjun Suryakant Rawte" that dialogue had hit him hard... now he knew why... ACP Samrat Anand swore by this line... "uski jazbe ki koi khatam nahi hai... Sakshi apne ateet ke baare main itni saaf hai...itni intelligence yet itni pagalpan... aur yeh aankhein...dono ke andar ki aag ek hai..." he thought... "saaf saaf nazar aa raha hai ke yeh hi uss ki behen hai..." he thought...shocked... that's why she liked the name Sam bhai...cause the short form of Samrat is Sam as well..
That's when another reality hit him
"matlab... woh swarge IG Veeransh Anand aur swarge DIG Maanyata Anand ki beti hain..." he broke off his thoughts to find Sakshi staring at him.

Sakshi's POV
Sakshi had been too strong until now... when Sam bhai left... it was exactly the same situation, five years ago... she used to call her real bro, Sam bhai as well...
Flashback
Samrat walked out of the washroom to find his uniform shirt missing, and the only one responsible would be his little doll - Sakku.
"Sakku...sakku mera shirt kaha hai?" Sam bhai asked.
"Yeh loh shirt Sam bhai.. Sakku chupa rahi thi." Ashi said while Sakku looked at him quietly.
"Aye meri princess... meri doll yeh unfirom ke shirt kyun chupa rahi thi?" Sam bhai asked knowing too well why she did so.
"Kyunki Samrat woh nahi chahti ki apna Bhai ki itni badi transfer ho jaye... hai na?" Mummum (Maya) said.
"Bhai... narcotics ke baare main baat kar raha hai tu... papa bhi dus saal pehle chodke gaye the narcotics case..
woh zinda hai par phir bhi humse milte bhi nahi, protection ke naam me, aur maa toh meri janam ke chaar saal baad chali gayi...
tu sab kuch hai.. agar tujhe aise decision lena pade toh, aur main ek budding journalist hoon...narcotics ek bohot dangerous cheez hai!" Sakku complained waving her hands in air.
"Sakku...tera bhai aisa kuch nahi karenge... woh waapas aayega.. aakhir kitni saare cheeze dekhni hai... aur teri mummum hai na? Roz tera bhai se baat hogi... aur jab waapas aa jaye toh phir hum sab ek saath honge, aur madam agar tu ek budding journalist hai toh tera bhai Assistant Commissioner of Police hain, mujhe nahi pata tha ki tu itni darpok hai!" Mummum hugged Sakku while looking at Samrat lovingly.
"Nahi nahi... mujhe toh unn narcotics wala ke liye bura lag raha hai... mere bhai ke palla parra... soch rahi hoon ke antim sanskaar ke liye kuch bachega ya nahi!" everyone laughed at Sakku's comment!
"Sakku ab yaha se nikal... mummum aur bhai ko private time de !" Ashi smiled and dragged Sakku away
"Oh haan... ab toh dono ki shaadi ho chuki hai...sorry sorry..."Sakku quipped and ran out before she could be hit.
"Samrat...pata hai ki jaana zaroori hai...phir bhi...khyaal rakhna apna...waqt pe khaana kha lo, raat bhar mat jaagte raho...au..aur waapas jaldi aao...bas 6 mahine ka transfer na?" Maya said quietly...trying not to bring out her tears...
"Maya, I am so sorry...shaadi ke do hafte baad hi jaana par raha hai...I am feeling horri.." Maya closed his mouth with her palm.
"Nahi... humaare beech na kabhi koi sorry hai na thank u...pata hai ke abhi tum thank you bolne waale the kyunki maine Sakku ka mann khush kar di... aur tume horrible feel karne ke koi zaroorat nahi hai...jaldi waapas aa jao... honeymoon main bhi jaana hai na?" Maya smiled naughtily.
Samrat hugged her tightly "Maya... you are everything to me... tum teen mere duniya ho.. I love you a lot.." sighing as the time to leave was coming closer, he tried to snuggle into her, as close as possible...
"I know that and I love you too..." Maya said back letting the tears fall down, breathing in his warm fragrance, placing a soft kiss on his neck.
Samrat felt something cold on his cheek, she was crying, he looked at her face and softly mumbled "no"... licking her tears away and claiming her lips urgently...knowing he won't be able to see her for the next six months...his hands going haywire, feeling her soft curves when she feebly uttered his name "Samrat"... "Samrat ... tume ab"
"jaana hoga, hai na Maya.." he parted...he smiled looking into her face, she nodded.
She gave him the hat, he buttoned up his shirt and walked out of the room with a heavy heart.
Sakku and Ashi were standing outside, nope Sakku didn't feel fear anymore, rather she felt proud...
Ashi too felt proud of her brother... and lucky to have a mummum like Maya.
Hugging his sisters tightly,
He gently pecked Sakku on her cheek and said "Oye meri daredevil... kuch din ke liye jaa raha hoon... jab waapas aavunga toh mujhe ek full on investigative reporter ko dekhna hai, theek hai... make me proud!" with tears in his eyes he ruffled her hair.
Hugging Ashi, before he could say anything she said "Bhai, don't worry, main Sakku aur mummum ki khayal rakhoongi... bas aap meri naak uchi rakhna!" she smiled... "yeh toh mera dialogue tha!" he complained... "khair chod, bachpan se tu toh hamesha sabse zyaada samajdaar thi! sabka khyaal rakhne ke liye meri Maya hai, tu apni khayal rakh female Samrat Anand!"
then he turned to Maya and quickly gave her a firm kiss on her lips and caressed her cheek...
he walked ahead a few steps then then he swiftly turned back saying "Agar kaam mein imaandari, mann mein sachchai aur dil mein hosla ho... to koi bhi tumhari zindagi ka rukh nahi badal sakta."
Sakku saluted saying "Investigative Reporter Sakshi Anand sir!"
Ashi saluted saying "Officer Anand, sir!"
Contented he left his family with a mission in front...
And that, was the last of him...
Flashback ends
Sakshi looked up to find Arjun staring at bhai's photo.

"Woh.. tum inki..." Arjun started
"Haan... unki behen hoon..."she muttered
"I am sorry..." Arjun said
"For what? Kyunki woh nahi hai... na Arjun... naaz hai mujhe un par! Bas woh kaise marre.. tareeqa ghalat tha..." she said, leaving his hand and walking to the counter.
"Sakshi...umm washroom kahan hai?" Arjun asked innocently scratching his head.
Sakshi smiled at that, thank God he saw a smile back " woh seedhe jake left... uss room ka washroom use karlo...baaki sab abhi kaam nahi kar rahe hai."
"Thanks." Arjun said and walked towards the specific washroom.

At a terrace
"Congrats Verma, plan A fulfilled!" Kapoor said thumping Verma's shoulder.
"Hmm..., uss aadmi ke beti aur hone waale damaad se abhi baat hui... they are safe, aur Kapoor the murder of Roshni Rawte was weird...Sikandar wore a mask...removed her dupatta in an attempt to torture both Rawte and Roshini and then suddenly he murdered her...under normal circumstance..." Verma continued speaking...
Kapoor was not listening to Verma "Transfer ke baare main koi bat nahi...talking about something else.. Kapoor, not Kappy... HELL! Verma is thinking about Samrat!" Kapoor thought
"Verma...Verma...VERMA!" Kapoor had to scream to get Verma's attention off the damn case of Rawte's wife.
"What is it Kapoor?" Verma glared
Kapoor just hugged Verma tight "Don't worry yaar... Rathore aur Shree pe tab hai...aur poori reasearch is done...iss baar hum woh ghalti nahi dohraenge...iss baar Sikandar marega...uska baap bhi marega...poora narcotics jayega tel lene... aur Samrat ko insaaf bhi milega... he died for a reason and we will justify it..."
Verma hugged Kapoor back and let go after some time, no tears on the moonlit face, just one stoic expression...
"I know it.. I have to leave now... going back to Mission A" Verma mumbled and as usual scaled down the 10 story building like a child's play and ran off to thin air.
"Verma...cry out for once" Kapoor said, letting the tears come down...
At some unknown room
"Samrat... I'm sorry... mujhe woh sab...tera baat ko nahi maana chahiye tha...you sacrificed and I watched... I should have saved you..." Verma cried out from lungs recalling a day that put Verma into a lifelong morose feeling.
Three years back
Verma's POV
I approached a neat house... Kappy had already spoken with the person inside, their introductions, job profile, everything was told... she heard the entire sequence... she heard Kappy... I doubted if she would even open the door or listen now, especially if it was me.
Hesitatingly I approached the door and knocked twice...
"Kaun?" a sweet voice asked
I couldn't answer back..just was able to say "woh.." when she immediately opened the door, I took in a breathe of relief but was immediately shocked by her look, no, not the white sari or the pale face but the anger seething in her eyes, the hatred in it...
"Tumhari himmat kaise hui yahan aane ki... Commissioner Anand se baat kar li hain and I got to know of the entire sequence of events... even that Kapoor came and spoke to me... kyun? I quietly heard because of the respect for Anand saab. But why did you come here? Tolerating one of you was too much for me." she flared up.
"You know what, tumhari ghalti hai yeh... had you not even done this today things would have been different!" she cried breaking the vase nearby...
"Kisne kaha hoshiyari dikhane ki huh? It's your damn fault! Your fault you get that!" she screamed at me... I was numb with shock... no.. it was not my fault please hear me out, my mind screamed but I stood silent only able to say
"Am sorry" I croaked out
"Sorry? Wow! Sorry!... iss sorry se usse waapas laa sakte ho? Huh? Chup kyun ho? Nahi naa!"
... "Dobara yaha mat aana! I just don't want to see your face!" she shouted and pushed me out of the house,
I stumbled back, tripped and fell on the once neatly kept garden... I couldn't hold back my tears... NO, IT"S NOT MY FAULT!!!
She died the same year...and Anand sir was in coma... Sikandar was responsible for both.
Present, back at that random room
"Please ... forgive me...I am sorry...It wasn't my fault" I leave a heart wrenching cry clutching her photo...for the billionth time
Suddenly I get a message
"No... it was NOT your fault...she has forgiven you...please control yourself yaar... it was not your fault"
It was Kappy's message...kaise usse pata chalta hai... I give a brief smile thinking about the plan ahead... Sikandar had had enough days of glory...
"Kahaani tune shuru kiya..."I said when beep, another message from Kappy
