Part 16:

Arjun had just woken up from his short nap and started walking towards the living room. He reached the living room and seated himself in the sofa. That's when he noticed that there was something different about Saakshi now. Her forehead had sindoor spread all over it. Her hair parting was also little red indicating that she had tried to remove it forcefully. Something pricked him seeing sindoor in her forehead proving that she belonged to someone else. It had never occurred to him that she might be married before he had met Shristhi the day before. Even then Shristhi's ignorance about her own father had led to conclusion that their relationship was strained. He had never before seen wear any of things that normal married women do. The reality had just struck him hard when he had seen like this. He had always thought that she was her friend and nothing more. Then why was this reality that haunting him? He subconsciously started walking towards her and stood right before her. It was then she noticed that he was awake.

Saakshi: Arjun tum uth gaye. Ruko mein tumhare liye chai lekar aathi hoon.

She was about to go when he held her wrist and stopped her and signaled that there was still remnants of sindoor still on her forehead. But she was still unable to understand it so he went a little close to her and took his hand to her forehead. He brushed his fingers across her forehead as if to remove the sindoor. But that action of his unintentionally moved a pinch of sindoor to her hair parting clearly indicating that they would be bound in sacred relationship of marriage in the future. For the moment both were ignorant of what the destiny had in store for them in the future. Only then did she realize what he was trying to do. She quickly moved away from him.

Arjun: Tumhari muh par sindoor laga tha. Meine tume bataane ki koshish ki thi par tum samaj nahi rahi thi issi liye...

Saakshi: It's ok. Mein saaf kar doongi.

Arjun: Kya mein tumse ek baat pooch saaktha hoon?

Saakshi: Haan poocho.

Arjun: Tum tho hum sab yaani har ETF member ki life ke bare mein jaanthi ho. Mere past ki bare mein bhi ache se jaanthi ho. Lekin hum tumhare bare kuch nahi jaanthe.

Saakshi: Arjun jo poochna chahthe ho saaf saaf kyun nahi pooch lete?

Arjun: Tume ETF join kiye itne maheene ho gaye par ek bhi baar hum mein se kisi ne tumhare pati se nahi mile. Shristhi ki baaton se lagtha hai woh kabhi unse mili bhi nahi na unko pechanti. Akhir woh kaha hai?

All the color drained out of Saakshi's face drained out. She just stood numbed at the place. The very question that she was avoiding all these years surfaced once again. Could she share her past with him or to say with her new family ETF? Was she at all ready to share it anyone? Speaking about it meant she had to live it all one more time. She was still confused about the right course of action now. Arjun realized his mistake.

Arakshi SS: Mere Humsfar

Part 16 (Continued):

Arjun: Sorry. Mujhe yeh sawal nahi karna chahiye tha.

Saakshi: Nahi aisi koi baat nahi. Mein ab uski saath nahi rahthi. Humare divorce ho gaya tha teen saal pehle. Uski saath humare rahe bhi alag ho gaye. Ab meri zindagi mein sirf Shree hain aur kissi ke liye koi jagah nahi. Please mujhe isse jayda kuch math poochna kyunki sach mein bata nahi pavoongi aur jooth mein bolna nahi chahthi.

Arjun: Teek hain. Mein tumse kuch aur nahi poochunga. Just keep one thing in mind whenever you will feel you need to share anything of your worries and grief with anyone, I am always there for you. Anytime Any day just don't hesitate.

Saakshi: Thanks a lot Arjun.

Arjun (In his Mind): Par mujhe aisa lagtha hai Saakshi ab woh din jaayda door nahi jab tum apne saare taqleef aur dard mere saath baatoogi. Yakeen hai ki tum khud mujhe bataavogi. Mein us waqt ka intazaar karoonga.

Saakshi just nodded and went away to continue her work.

Shristhi came out of the bed room rubbing her eyes with her hands and sat in the sofa. Saakshi served snacks and tea for both Arjun and Shristhi. Then she went to garden to take some fresh air to soothe and calm her nerves. It would have been not more than 15 minutes when she saw Shristhi dragging Arjun with her towards the garden.

Saakshi: Shree Arjun ko yahaan aise yahan kyun la rahi ho?

Shristhi: Mama Shree na wahan na bore ho rahi thi tho dost ko na yahan lekar aayi running and catching kelne ke liye. Aap bhi hamare saath kelo na Mama. Please. Bahoot maza aayega.

Saakshi: Nahi Shree aaj nahi tumare yeh jo dost hai na unki tabhiyat karaab hai issi liye yahaan humare saath rehne aaye hain. Iss liye unhe pareshaan mat karo.

Shristhi: Shree kabhi kisi ko bhi pareshaan nahi karthi. Dost ko bhi koyi problem nahi. Hain na dost?

Arjun: Haan mujhe koyi problem nahi. Waise bhi mein bhi bore hi ho raha tha. Thode bahoot bagne se mujhe kuch nahi hoga. Magar tume haarne ka darr hai tho teek hain, tume khelne ki zaroorat nahi. Sirf mein aur Shree khel lenge.

Saakshi: Aise koyi baat nahi. Mein tho tumhare liye hi keh rahi thi. Waise bhi haarongi bhi apni beti se hain na. Mein uske liye bahoot khush hongi. Come on let's play

They started playing running and catching. It was not always a difficult task for either Saakshi or Arjun to catch Shristhi. But sometimes they would pretend that they were unable to catch her simply to make her happy. Shree was looking very happy and running around the garden and now it was the turn of Saakshi to catch Shree. Saakshi was running behind Shristhi and was almost on the brink of catching her when an evil idea struck Shristhi's mind. She was near the tap that had a hose pipe connected to it which was normally used to water the plants. Shristhi slowly opened the pipe and took the pipe lying on the ground and pointed it directly at Saakshi. Saakshi had not expected this and before she could realize what had happened, she was fully wet and Shristhi was still pointing the pipe towards her laughing loudly.

Saakshi (Sternly): Shree Pani ko band karo. Yeh kya kar rahi ho?

Shristhi: Nahi Mama. Nahi karoongi. Aab mein dekthi hoon aap Shree ko kaise pakadenge.

Saakshi slowly walked towards Shree and snatched the pipe from her. Before she could point it back at Shree, she started running again. She just ran a few inches and hid behind Arjun. Saakshi just turned and held the pipe in the direction hoping to get Shree drenched but in the process made Arjun wet. Saakshi was shocked at what she had done.

Saakshi: I am sorry Arjun. Mera nishana tum nahi the. Mein tho Shree ko... Par issne suddenly tumhare piche jaakar chup gayi issi liye... Tum

Arjun: Issi liye tumne mujhe geela kar diya. Par Miss Anand har galathi ki sazza hothi hain. Aur iss galathi ki bhi saza tume zaroor milegi.

Arjun was already walking towards her taking measured steps.

Saakshi: Arjun I am really sorry. Please

Arjun: Nahi Miss Anand yeh tho aapko karne ke pehle sochna chahiye tha. Aab koyi faayida nahi.

Part 16 (Continued):

He took a step towards her and held her hand that had the pipe and twisted it slightly so that it again pointed towards her. Water was flowing so fast from the pipe that now pointed towards her from such a close proximity made her shivers slightly. Adding to some water went directly into her nose that made her cough. Saakshi grip loosened on the pipe and so did Arjun and the pipe landed on the floor. Arjun moved a bit more towards Saakshi and started wiping the water on her face with his fingers. Arjun's traced every inch of her face in an attempt to remove the water droplets but subconsciously he liked the feeling of her soft skin on his fingertips. His other hand was moving up and down her back rubbing it so as provide her a relief from her coughing. This action was of his was sending shivers down her spine and his state was no different. Saakshi was the first one to realize and came out of this trance like state. She stepped a bit back and moved away from him not before indicating that she was fine. But as she took a step backwards her feet got struck in the pipe that they had dropped on the ground earlier and she lost her balance. Arjun just noticed this in time and tried to stop her fall by encircling his hand around her waist but in vain as she fell on the ground taking him with her. His hands encircled around her waist and her hand on her own accord went around his neck as if to hold on to him. As they hit the floor Arjun landed on top of Saakshi and his lips traced her collarbone due to sudden fall. They were in a state of trance which was broken by the feel of cold water on them. They saw Shristhi was again holding the pipe and getting them drenched. Soon they got up from the grass and composed themselves and muttered a quick sorry to each other and took quick steps towards the little prankster who had put them again in an embarrassing situation for the second time in two days. Shristhi realized the state and dropped the pipe and started running again. Arjun caught Shristhi and Saakshi drenched her fully. The game that started as running and catching had turned into water game. It continued a bit longer and each one involved in it enjoying every bit of it.

It was only after a while that they realized that sun had set and night sky with twinkling stars has emerged. It was after a long time both Arjun and Saakshi had enjoyed a calm and serene evening forgetting all the worries and grief that engulfed their lives.

Saakshi: Bus bus aab bohoot hogayi. Shree jaakar change kar lo.

Shree ran inside leaving Arjun and Saakshi all alone. Arjun was about to go inside when Saakshi's voice stopped him

Saakshi: Thanks for everything once again Arjun. Meine itne saalon mein Shree ko itna khush kabhi nahi dekha jo inn doo dinon mein dekha.This is all because of you. Thanks for everything you have done for her.

Arjun: No need to thank. I have lived my life first time after Roshini's death in these two days. She had given me a new lease to live and made me come alive once again. In fact I should be the one thanking both of you.
